  1. So I'm showing my age here ?

The last time I was in the Bahamas was 21 years ago aboard Sovereign of the Seas.  I can't remember if there were mosquitoes, gnats, etc.  Should we have bug repellent on hand?  We'll be there the first week of June...

    Thanks!!

If you don't mind lugging some crap, go for it regarding Coco Cay.

Coco Cay is a great beach day.  You will not be disappointed if you are a beach person.  The water is insane. Crystal blue.

I totally agree - though I haven't been there since 1998.  Even back then the water was phenomenal

I am not sure what you mean by beach loungers.  Clamshell, beach beds, beach mats?  Lounge chairs are free.

I agree with melski.  You can rent beach mats for $13 for the day.

That being said, I am someone who travels lightly.  13 bucks for a beach mat is worth it in my eyes if it means 1 less suitcase.

The clamshells - plus my air compressor is *tiny* (for a blow-up mattress).  Also, since we don't have to fly to /from the port, I don't mind lugging some crap.

I think you mean flamingos?  HAHA

I agree.   Pools get crowded especially on sea days, even in the Solarium.  For all of my cruises I have been on, most of the time people are in the pool for maybe 15 mins. during an hr.  and the pool is still packed.  IE you really can't swim from one end of the pool to the other (length) or even one side to another (width) without navigating around people.

If you are talking about beaches (excursions) than that is different.  If you are talking about Coco Cay beach, I believe they rent beach mats for the day.  If you took a cabana or bungalow at Chill Island on Coco Cay beach mats are included.  Maybe just me, but I would think that Oasis since it has a Lazy River, they would have floats.

Just to bring to the beach.  We don't have cabana, but did rent out the beach loungers

I can speak for RC , they don't ask for any documentation to prove that you are disabled.  Her sister company, Celebrity we had to send documents from our doctors before they would assign an accessible stateroom to us.  I wish RC would also ask for proof as I am having difficulty getting accessible as well. My husband uses his scooter we rent and we do charge it in the room if you'd rather have it at your disposal when you need it.

Unfortunately the doorway for the room we did get won't let the scooter fit thru (22") - but I'm thinking if I break it down and slide it in sideways....

  6. I'm taking my friend for his first cruise this coming May on Adventure.  Unfortunately he has HSP (hereditary spastic paraplegia) and requires at times his scooter to get around.  Even though we booked the cruise well in advance, there were no accessory rooms available ?. I don't think it will be a big deal as he doesn't need it in the room to get around, only when we go out perusing about the ship or at the ports.  Plus, our TA informed us that the crew can take the scooter and park / charge it overnight in a specified area and have it back at our cabin the next morning.

I know that this topic has been broached before, but if someone had booked an accessible cabin and they aren't handicapped, doesn't RC have an obligation to transfer them to another cabin and the accessible cabin given to the people who really need it?  Granted as I previously remarked, he doesn't need it in the cabin so I don't think it will make or break his experience.

Also, any tips you can offer would be great as this will be the first time I'm cruising with someone who has mobility issues
