  1. That's frustrating as it seems to vary ship to ship....so you didn't know you couldn't sit up front without your Genie helping. DH bought The Key for Adventure and from what I hear, those seats are balcony front row. I'm a front row orchestra gal so I want to cancel The Key (and we don't get internet so overall not worth it). Hope there are some "good" seats left when we go on Anthem as if They Key is there on top of stateroom class seats, then the best seat will be pretty far back (or on the side). I'm a huge We Will Rock You fan, and would love to be able to get decent seats. Enjoying your review! Seems like a great cruise so far.
  2. Looks like an amazing cruise! And nothing beats Oasis class. Safe travels!
  3. Really wanting to try Chef's Table on Adventure...but we'll see....only if we can get a deal on board (just upgraded our room so not sure it's in the budget) Some favorites... Chops - molten lava cake, garlic shrimp (on Mariner....Symphony didn't season it as well) Jamie's - truffle pasta MDR - escargot, Gorgonzola pasta (rich but yummy), garlic shrimp, Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon El Loco Fresh - cheese quesadilla, chocolate dulce de leche Cafe Promenade - coconut ranger cookies I'm sure I'm missing a bunch but those come to mind.
  4. Personal preference but for us, it would be too much decadent food . I think mentally we would feel we would need to eat full meals since we're paying extra. We currently have BOGO booked on Navigator (booked before they changed it to Chops + 1) and are most likely cancelling as that's 2 our of 4 dinners. Maybe we're in the minority, but we like the MDR, especially when you get the same waiter each night. And I couldn't imagine adding in lunches at the specialty places too. But again, that's just us. It's a personal preference.
  5. Hope it works out for you. Sounds like you need a new TA if this one makes you feel like you're a bother for doing his/her job
  6. My dream....to have your problem some day...lol!
  7. That's amazing if $285 is your difference. On Oasis class, I say go for it. For us on Adventure, there is no Coastal Kitchen, the JS room and balcony dimensions are smaller than Oasis JS and our upgrade was $500 (CAD). Yours is a no brainier if its in the budget as you'll also get Coastal Kitchen plus larger balcony and room. Let us know what you decide.
  8. Were you the only ship at at CoCo Cay? That's an insane wait time! I'm assuming the tall slides are the twirly colourful ones?
  9. Thanks. I just found a video of another JS o Adventure (same category) and it shows a walk in. Neither are corners. Congrats on your 30th!
  10. Yeah...for that much, we wouldn't consider it either. Ours was $500 for a 6 night cruise....so 12 points. And a walk in closet and more space isn't so bad either.?
  11. Good point (although I'm guessing the Royal Up base amount will still be a lot but you never know) Thank you...we did it and switched to a JS. Our first time in anything above a balcony category. And refunding They Key almost pays for it, plus we will most likely cancel our BOGO on our other cruise...so it all evens out. ?
  12. Yeah...unless we see a good deal onboard. I know sometimes they offer it if they need to fill spots (or so from what I've heard). On the good side...we do currently have The Key booked which we were planning on cancelling...so that would help pay for the difference. One thing to clarify...our existing booking is non-refundable. By switching rooms, there is no penalty, right? i.e. same ship and sailing
  13. Ugh...the dilemma. Prices dropped. I just re-booked our room on Monday. We have a great price, but JS dropped today and now only $500 difference. Worth it? Space not a huge deal when it's just two of us (and suites are only 277 sq ft on this ship) , but double points. PS - If we went up to JS then would probably skip Chef's Table, which we were thinking of trying.
  14. Not sure OPs port timing. If those were the hours, then would be wroth it. But for our cruise (not OP), we don't arrive until 12:30pm and leave at 9pm. So guessing we'd only get actual park time from say 2pm7pm?
  15. Oh no. Hope that ankle heals quickly! I'd be so anxious too for that room assignment. It's funny as sometimes you get your assignment quickly (like we did on our first guaranty) and other times they hold out.
  16. That's odd. On Symphony this past March we had no restrictions except for Chef's Table and I think Izumi Hibachi. Central Park was definitely allowed for BOGO for us.
  17. This is for our Navigator cruise in August so we are still holding onto the BOGO reservation until we fully decide. We're probably gonna cancel it, and pocket the money elsewhere (e.g can buy is some drinks) and even our kids said they just want the MDR. But I agree...seems like BOGO is a thing of the past for that price. Chops + 1 is sortuv the same thing but for $30 more per person and one of the restaurants must be Chops.
  18. It's something odd with the reservation system with one booking being online and another by royal agent. I'm in IT and don't get the restriction or why this would make a difference, but some some reason they can't link them in the system. We can still "add a reservation" when booking say an excursion and they did something when noting our dining table in the MDR (I hope!) but they are not technically linked. For our Anthem cruise next year, we booked 2 connecting rooms upfront with the agent and can see both reservations in the cruise planner. Hopefully we'll have the same muster stations for that one. Good point..we could do online check in and print on our reservation with no issue so will call and see if Royal can change our muster to our kids assigned muster. Thanks.
  19. Our son is 14 and our daughter will be 10 when we sail. I thnk because they are connecting they let us book kids in one room and adults in the other? This booking is a little messed up and our reservations aren't linked so thinking about it, maybe that's why we got unlucky and got different muster stations? We originally booked a single room online. Then we called in and decided to switch to 2 connecting rooms. For some reason...because one room was booked online and the other with a royal agent, they are not linked and we only see our booking when signing in to Royal's site. (We have a separate email to see our kids booking). It actually took DH 20 minutes on the phone with royal agent to do check in for our kids room. So am thinking it won't be so easy to get us together and then reprint the sea pass. For those that need to be together for physical reasons, i hope you get it straightened out.
  20. Do a mock booking to where you get to the page with the pricing. At the bottom it will give you the cancellation policy. If the first entry is what you lose after "Today", then that is the non-refundable. To see the refundable, enter the guest info. Then the last page will have a check box that will let you add on the additional price for the refundable fare (and now it will show a date that is not today for the first entry under cancellation policy).
  21. Thanks. Do you think Royal agent could modify it beforehand? Lining up at Guest Services on day 1 isn't ideal (esp when it's only a 4 day cruise)
  22. For our Navigator cruise we booked 2 connecting staterooms. Our kids are in one, and DH and I are in the other. We just did check in and noticed that we have different muster stations. This seems very strange that they would split up rooms when they are connecting. It's not a huge deal for muster drill as our son will just look after our younger one, but is there a way to move us together? If it was a real emergency, then I'd want our kids with us.
