  1. I call it the Coronavirus list - ships that have been affected by the virus. (It’s a list I made which I posted somewhere on this forum, I might start a topic on it) This morning, the Grand Princess joins the other ships on the list as it is held off the coast of San Francisco.
  2. Was there a virus outbreak situation when you sailed on those other cruise lines? If not, it would be unfair to compare your previous cruising experiences with what is going on right now. The situation is very fluid and the travel industry is being impacted negatively in a big way. We’ve known Royal to take care of its customers' welfare but it might be overwhelmed by the challenges of this virus at the moment. A little understanding goes a long way.
  3. Yes, I canceled my May Oasis cruise, not out of fear for the virus, but for the way it has impacted the cruise industry. How many cruise ships are on the CV list now?
  4. Here's another one... https://www.cruiseindustrynews.com/cruise-news/22533-pence-to-meet-with-cruise-line-ceos-on-saturday.html
  5. Sharing this... https://www.chicagotribune.com/coronavirus/ct-coronavirus-united-airlines-cuts-flights-20200304-wrkmldxfbzgaxf3zzjvy4c4mlm-story.html
  6. The virus is spreading in spite of these restrictions because people are not being honest about their exposure and some people may not even be aware that they have been infected. That’s seems to have been the case in Seattle.
  7. My friends are booked for the May 10 sailing. They’re also set up for tours and road trips in Italy before the sailing. They have a lot of cancellations to take care of, they don’t even know where to start. At least, most airlines are waiving change fees for flights to affected areas.
  8. I'd say a visit to Atlantis is good for first time visitors to Nassau. It's free to do sightseeing and picture taking in the areas that @Matt has mentioned in his post. After my first time visit, I've only gone to Atlantis when there were newbies in our group. We'd get a local driver to take us there and come back for us at an agreed time. The last time I was there in June 2019, our group and a lot of people on the three ships docked there had a hard time getting a ride. There were not enough van/taxis to provide service for tourists.
  9. I’ve used mine on the Mariner, Ovation (see photo), and Empress.
  10. I had my travel agent cancel my booking today for the Oasis on May 3. With about 60 days to go before the cruise, there is so much uncertainty that I don’t want to gamble on. I’m hoping this situation will have been resolved before my next booking which is the Odyssey Inaugural in November.
  11. I’m seriously considering bringing disposable gloves next time I visit the Windjammer. Those “idiots” touch the serving spoons, don’t they? I rarely visit the Windjammer because my mealtimes on cruises start at MTD at 5:00PM. If ever I wanted to eat before that, it would be food from the deli style outlets.
  12. We all don’t like delays especially when embarking on a cruise. But the posts on this thread scare me. If they are not screening passports or asking guests about previous travel to affected areas or exposure to infected persons, carriers of the virus may get past check-in and onto the ship. I don’t like what I’m hearing on the news this morning about infected people being asymptomatic and about the virus being undetected in Seattle for weeks.
  13. If ever the ships on my bucket list sail out of Galveston, I’ll keep this in mind. They are Freedom, Voyager, and Quantum.
  14. I’ve purchased transfers for Miami, Ft Lauderdale, and Seattle. The airports were very close. One reason I don’t want to sail out of Galveston is the distance from both airports serving the area.
  15. You must have had an early flight (Early Transfers) They have a different tag number for those flying out later in the afternoon (Late Transfers)
  16. I've been trying hard to recall if they ever did that with me. I can't remember at all. All I did was find the bus, leave my luggage with them and tell them my airline. I actually remember telling myself, "People could just sneak onto these buses and get free transfers". One thing they don't forget to do though is to "remind" you how well they took care of you and that they'd appreciate it if you "took care" of them too. *cough* TIP *cough* Maybe I shouldn't "cough"... I might be denied boarding ... ha ha
  17. I think it was on the Empress where I saw them really pushing the "special" VOOM package for the last 3 days of the cruise. They were probably looking to attract those who were ready to connect to the outside world after days of being "internet free".
  18. From what I remember, they offer internet packages on board for the remaining days of the cruise. In your case, you can get it on Day 2 but you'll have to pay for the remaining days. There were times when this kind of offer appeared on Day 3 or 4. Maybe it's like the Drink Card they also offer onboard, it's based on supply and demand. My two cents...
  19. The receipt you were given is your “ticket” for the bus, though I don’t remember the driver/conductor checking for them. You follow all the disembarkation procedures until you clear passport control. From there you proceed to the bays where the transfer buses are and look the one headed to the Miami airport.
  20. I think it was in Costa Maya where the dolphin encounter was just by the port. The package included several tricks the dolphins perform with the participant.
  21. I stayed at a Four Points Hotel the night before the cruise. The hotel staff helped me book for a shuttle to take me to the port the next day. The hotel was within 1-2 miles from the places you mentioned, about 0.6 miles from the Space Needle. I was gonna walk to those places but got lazy and took Ubers instead. Cost me less than $20 each way.
  22. We have a meeting scheduled to discuss possible scenarios. During flu season, we refrain from hand shaking and holding hands together (when praying). Disinfectant dispeners are placed in strategic locations. Some church goers with respiratory issues wear masks (voluntarily) and stay in the back (again voluntarily). We confer with our members in the medical field about the situation. Our source of information is not limited to the media.
  23. I have a lot of friends in the medical field. I've been asking them about advisories and bulletins they might be getting from reliable sources. So far, they've gotten nothing.
  24. I've always believed that balance is the key. There are two extremes in this kind of scenario - indifference and hysteria. This is just my opinion and theory, it is continuing to spread because of indifference, infected people still going around thinking it's nothing to worry about. On the other hand there is the hysteria and paranoia causing all the fear, panic, and extinction scenarios.
