  1. I always told myself that "its just that I'm eating more food" as the reason for not getting an alchohol buzz. But on my last cruise I had some sort of import beer (not a beer drinker) just to try it out and I had an instant buzz......from beer of all things?? Now I have noticed the people around the pool who were really feeling it seemed to all be drinking beer so now I'm more leaning towards that the pours are weak or the liquor is of lower alcohol content. In all honesty I didn't get a drink package on next months cruise partly because of this.
  2. 10 years ago or so we share a large main dining room table with a family from St Maarten. First I found it interesting that a family from the Caribbean would be taking a Caribbean cruise, second was the fact that they were going to disembark when they hit their home island. This was on a southern Caribbean cruise out of Puerto Rico and St Maarten was our last port before returning to PR.
  3. Had the $100 which was removed and now have the $50 credit. Looks like from reading the small print that it can only be used in the cruise planner which kind of stinks cause we've already bought everything we need at a better discount then what is offered now.
  4. I pretty sure I already know the answer to this but how much time is enough for the Kennedy Space Center? I've always wanted to go there with the family but our cruise will be docked at Port Canaveral from 1- 8pm with the space center closing at 5pm. It just seems like 3-4hrs just wouldn't be enough time but then again I also noticed that Royal is selling the excursion?
  5. I bought one under my name for the wife and I. We will have our two kids with us so I'm debating whether I should get second under the wife to ensure the kids are covered? It would seem like if the parents had priority boarding that it would have to include the kids?
  6. Odd thing for me is that my folks are sailing on the same cruise and they had this listed under packages while I had to do the url change. We are on a Oasis 9 night cruise so if this sticks it's even a better deal!
  7. Hmmm, I first did the URL change, changing beverage to "package" and I get the page that says great things are coming soon. Then switched beverage to "packages" and the offer comes up, just in case anyone else isn't getting it and did the same as I did the first time.
  8. We have a guaranteed Balcony room on Oasis this summer and our invoice shows "WS suite guaranteed". I thought that was a junior suite designation but we are not expecting anything and will be happy with any balcony room we get.
  9. We did a few days in London, then spent the day before our cruise in Bath. Lots of cool things there but more laid back. Then morning of our cruise took the train into Southampton and was at the cruise terminal by 10am.
  10. My last two cruises all the drinks tasted fine but did seem week. Instead of "feelin good" its more of a bloated feeling from all the fillers. Towards the end of our last cruise I started only getting strait shots of whatever,(Kraken, Buffalo Trace),on the rocks to get straight to the good stuff.
  11. I'm working night shift now and managed to log in right after midnight. I don't need it but I've been checking the Deluxe drink package prices for members in our group. When I first opened it it was $56pd, changed screens to re-book the wife's refreshment package then went back and deluxe was $62. I let the others know this morning about the $62 as it is still very good deal but the site now is either down or showing $72 when its up.
  12. Getting your monies worth after that many days may require a liver transplant!
  13. Sorry, when you call they often say that they will rebook at the new price. So there is no change other than the 48hr guarantee gets you a OBC, just wanted to make sure repricing wasn't going away.
  14. Curious, what is the difference between 48hr guarantee vs doing the normal re-book like I've done many times in the past? I mean what is the purpose of this "guarantee" if you can still do a re-book?
  15. I'm sure I'm not alone but we have always taken our kids out of school for family vacations. We feel that as long as long as they maintain strong grades that family time along with different cultural experience is just as much importance as time in school. We will actually be on Oasis next August and it will be one of the first cruises we've taken in a long time that school will be out for summer break.
  16. That's good I guess,at least I know I wasn't going crazy, but still annoying that there isn't.
  17. Just curious, where is this Windjammer bar on Symphony? We never noticed it and were using the Mast bar for our drinks when in the Windjammer. It was actually one of the only things I can think of that I didn't like on that ship.
  18. We were told that the survey scores determine how many tables they will service in the MDR on upcoming cruises. As an assistant waiter, waiter just starting out good survey scores mean your ability to make more money grows with more responsibility.
  19. Black Friday last fall was $5.99 for many sailings so there is a chance it may go lower.
  20. Symphony beds are for sure the firmest I've had on any ship. I like a firm bed and still I woke up a couple days a little sore from the the bed.
  21. Funny this topic about Adventure was brought up. On recent sailing on Symphony we were docked side by side with the AoS and besides the obvious size difference we noted that the Adventure was starting to look a little tired on the outside. I had to look back at my photos but the last time I was on the AoS was 2007 so it sure has seen a lot since then.
  22. I'm not a big fan of Nassau either and will typically stick around the ship when there. I will say though that you should check out Viator or any of the other independent tour sites, the last time we were there we did a walking tour sampling local food and drinks along with a guide telling the history of what we were having. This wasn't offered through the ship and I'll say it's the first time I didn't leave Nassau just feeling......Meh.
  23. Yep, most of the time there is a small reversible magnet to let the room steward know if your in or out.
  24. A U.S. based cruise we the dress our best for formal nights and the wife always has to get photos. Cruising out different ports in Europe we typically pack light, due to using more public transportation pre and post cruise, so it's casual for dinner every night.
  25. Deluxe drink package person here but I also like the Freestyle machine cause I can get my Coke Zero fix with lunch.
