  1. We easily walked the length of the Malecon, had drinks & food on the beach & walked back to the taxi stand. I can’t imagine why you’d need a golf cart. Take the cheap bus or a very reasonable taxi. Walk the strip.
  2. I found my $20 Cortrans 13 passenger shuttle very comfortable.
  3. Local shuttles might be significantly cheaper. Cortrans, Cruise Control both get excellent reviews.
  4. Yup that’s my price too but for 4 it comes to $2014. Really it’s still 5 drinks per day plus a couple bottles of water or soda or specialty coffee. I know we will consume that much (and probably more where my son is concerned). I’ll spend it anyway so I may as well get the package. I do agree that’s getting to be the top of my comfort level.
  5. And again, reading carefully before you did that would have avoided the issue. I get it. I am obsessive about reading everything. I drive my family crazy! BUT I immediately noticed the difference in how the gratuities are handled when my cruise switched from the old to the new planner. Caveat Emptor. You HAVE to pay attention. I am sorry you had this problem and I hope your post leads people to pay more attention.
  6. With all the love in my heart, you are kinda needy. People have been trying to provide some direction but sometimes the community doesn’t have the exact answer for which you are looking. Sometimes you have to get on board & look around. Take the initiative! I’m sure if anyone gets more concrete information, they will post. And sometimes these threads go off on little tangents. The friends of Matt H was an aside and not meant to change the purpose of your original post.
  7. And it isn’t calculated like a tip you’d leave at a restaurant on land. As pointed out earlier, it’s a flat fee regardless of what you paid for the cruise based on cabin type. And the crew works incredibly hard for it.
  8. Royal always “slaps” on gratuities. It’s just a matter of when it appears old versus new cruise planner. Yes, you need to read and watch carefully but that applies to most things in life. I worked in a municipal tax office prior to retirement and easily 80% of taxpayers don’t READ the bill!! Then they call us complaining about something in black and white right on the bill. Oh I didn’t see that.
  9. probably not. I had the chicken sandwich when we were there last year and was not impressed. Don’t think beer would help.
  10. Am I the only one who thinks that does NOT look appetizing???
  11. Sorry this happened to you. Changes have been fast and furious since cruising resumed. And the no you don’t yes you do no you don’t nature of excursions has been the worst. I hope you find something you can all enjoy. If not, sometimes an empty ship allows you to do more with less wait.
  12. Yup my Harmony cruise shows the change to St Maarten but excursions are still for Antigua. No way to see if there are any Black Friday sales on excursions .
  13. Gobble gobble my RC friends. God bless you and yours!
  14. Lower tier beverage packages did go down. Unfortunately not the DBP.
  15. Then I guess I’m stuck with it. In the grand scheme, it’s only $20 more each but I was hoping to pay less than the last 20 or so sales not more.
  16. My cruise planner says 3 days? Does Royal use funny calendars too?
  17. Yup as I am only looking at the DBP. It’s not the end of the world but it is disappointing. Any thoughts as to whether the Cyber Monday Sale might be better? When it would start?
  18. My highly anticipated Black Friday sale is a bust. Not only is it still 30% off but the base price went up a couple weeks ago so that 30% is actually $3 more each. I know, I know you snooze you lose.
  19. Guess I am pretty old. I remember the little luncheonette on the corner had metal bases into which they’d put a paper cone (had some type of waxy feel to it) and fill it with milk or fountain drinks.
  20. Wow, would never think of that! But I do carry small scissors
  21. Yup they were paper back then. Plastic everything was not a thing yet.
  22. Looks like OP didn’t care for the answers or we got a troll!
