As things stand right now you dont even have to test positive to be sent into isolation. If you come into close contact with someone who tests positive you must self isolate for 7 days in England 10 days in Scotland, if you take a test and it shows negative it means nothing you still got to see out your isolation days as do those you share a home with. A family of 4 could potentially have 28 consecutive days isolation in England and 40 in Scotland You will have to fill in a PLF form for entering the country, on this form you have to say where you are staying. As a tourist you may find you are told what hotels you have to isolate in! If you need to self isolate and wanted to stay with friends or family then they would also need to self isolate even though they have no symptoms or have had a negative test. As mentioned previously its all politics right now as none of the above makes any sense and will change soon

From PR website, if you do not get a test to fly to PR you have 48hrs to do so, so time it so you can use 1 test as required to enter PR and board ship Of course its whether airline allows you to fly without having test, in UK they have made people go and get tests before boarding a domestic flight if they then have international flight. As of December 27th, 2021, all passengers arriving on domestic flights are required to show a negative COVID-19 test (either antigen or PCR) result taken within 48 hours before arrival time, regardless of vaccination status. Passengers arriving without a test will have 48 hours to take one upon arrival or be subject to a fine.

If PR adhere to the rules they have implemented then everyone onboard ship would need to be tested before docking. A ship docking on day 1 of its sailing is probably less of a risk then 1 returning after 7 days to disembark passengers! So you would presume tests would be needed if they are not then it makes the rules they have implemented a joke!

I may be outnumbered but as an international customer i dont spend a lot onboard ( may be the fact im scottish and therefore tighter than 2 coats of paint ) Specialty Dining? Nope! Why buy a meal when i can get it for nothing in MDR Casino? Limit myself to $20 if i win i give winning to my wife but keep $20 for the next day. Photograph package? Last time someone took a photo of me they had a height chart behind me and i was in cuffs lol Yes i save up for good holidays abroad but for me its cheaper to have a long weekend abroad than to jump on a train 130 miles! Aberdeen to Edinburgh Train £130 pp hotel £200+ per night so £1000 at least for 4 nights I had 5 nights in Gibraltar on a 5 star Yacht for £900, so travelling abroad rather than staying at home makes sense as it costs less.

You are correct that borders are open in US however in Europe borders are closing again and restrictions are being reintroduced! Brits cannot visit a number of countries. Other countries such as Netherlands and Austria are in lockdown Tests are required for everyone travelling to and from countries. Governments have made it more difficult for people to travel due to new restrictions, news today mentioned that NYC has implemented a mandate that over 12s must have vaccine to enable them to enter certain premises will there be such an uproar about this as there is about RC stopping testing for Foreign cruisers? The UK changed its rules a week or so ago so now everyone entering must have PCR test before they fly! It wasnt RC that made this decision it was UK Government so why should RC have to pay? Im sure i have seen 2 or 3 day cruises that are cheaper than some of the figures being mentioned for tests, so if im a foreigner wanting to go home do i pay $250 for test or jump on a 2 night cruise for $200 and RC will do the test for me? Maybe if those companies who conduct the tests didn't charge so much RC may have continued with the policy they implemented at the start but it cannot continue.

Way things are right now i will need a PCR test to fly from UK to US, so thats 1 test! As im heading down to PR for a couple of days prior to cruise i will need another before boarding cruiseship so that me up to 2 tests! Not sure being a foreigner in PR heading back to US if i will need another but once in NYC for 4 days i will need a test to fly back to UK and then another on day 2 of my Return in UK so definitely 4 tests each maybe 5! Way i see it is this If i want to travel and have a break i just have to suck it up and get on with it! If i dont want to pay it i stay at home its that simple!

The cost is an issue! When i returned to the UK from Gibraltar i had to have PCR tests, cost for home test which was sent overnight to a lab and result within 24hrs was £40. These companies charging 100s of £ or $ should hang their heads in shame

Not me !!!! Counting down the days the only thing that will stop me is if US shuts its doors again
