  1. Have not booked yet but I do plan on booking something in about 19-22 days prior to getting off of our Alaskan cruise on Explorer of the Seas!!!!?
  2. I have to agree with another post in Central Park, I know its more than one choice and somewhat near a pool but I would have to say the big papasan chairs at the front of the ship in the Solarium in the evening as well. They are the perfect size to get close and talk with the one that you love the most and relax.?
  3. Great shots! Thank you for sharing! Have not been on Allure yet but I am definitely looking forward to it!!?
  4. As others have said yes! As long as you drink the free drinks and do not go nuts on anything else then it is completely possible. We will be sailing to Alaska in June, everything will be prepaid, I can assure you that with the expense of this trip there will not be hardly anything else that we will need to purchase onboard. Should not be a problem getting off the ship without a major expense.
  5. I concur I would DEFINITELY get off at your other two stops, I would stay onboard in Nassau easily.....not to mention that its a port that is visited heavily by most cruises so it will be easier to go there again that the other two.
  6. First cruise was on Oasis of the seas, we took the Eastern Caribbean mainly because that was one of the only ones that departed at the time that we needed because we were on a very tight schedule. Main reason we chose RCCL was because the wife had several bad experiences with another cruise line and she simply refused to sail that line again! We both are glad that she did after the first few days! We both work in healthcare and and worked right up until we left for the cruise. When we got onboard we were exhausted but felt the stress begin to melt away the minute we got onboard! We were amazed at the "Wow" factor and our jaws hit the floor the minute we got onboard and saw how amazing and beautiful the ship was! The service that we received as well as the wonderful time that we had are the reasons that we remain loyal to Royal and can not wait for our next cruise on June 22!
  7. Just know that the picture is somewhat deceptive as to the amount you will be able to fit in there, its perfect for a small cell phone, two passports and some cash. You will be able to fit some small items in there after that but not much. IMHO its perfect and unobtrusive in size, unless it is a very small camera you will not be able to fit it in there.
  8. Here you go @Pooch, this is the exact model we use, there is a steel braid cable that is wrapped around it so you can attach it to something, only costs about $19 on Amazon.
  9. We have a small travel safe that we keep our important stuff in when we go ashore. It locks around something so if we are on a beach and decide to go into the water we do not have to sweat leaving our stuff on the beach. Its not enough to deter a career and seasoned criminal but its enough for most. I try to lock it around a lounger that we are in and cover it with my towel and book bag. That being said, we carry ours with us for the most part, and leave them in the travel safe with the cash we bring onshore.
  10. Yes we can! We drive through Delaware on 13 to go to PA so I understand your drive! Baltimore is nice and we are looking to go on Grandeur next summer but it all depends on the job that the wife gets this fall.
  11. I use the Ship Mate app on my phone that has a countdown built in, maybe that will help! I
  12. No Carnival for us, wife had 3 bad experiences and is absolutely adamant about not giving them a penny more. If RCCL comes to Norfolk it’s all over for us, we would work just to cruise!!!?
  13. Have to agree! Norfolk would be great! Carnival goes out of Norfolk from time to time and it would be absolutely perfect! We’re about a 30 minute drive from there. If they started sailing from there I would take a cruise every other month!
  14. To quote Bon Jovi “ Shot through the heart!” You just rubbed salt in the wound @twangster!! When I get to your point I will be doing cartwheels!!?
  15. No, its not! Wife has been in school for the past few years and we have only been able to go on one 4 day cruise over the past two years and we are both having the same issue!! I do not know what it is but we are both spoiled and can not wait for our next one in June!
  16. You should have NO problem taking pictures with the whole group and purchasing them individually, They are usually about $20 per photo, only advice I have for you is that if you want several pictures of the same one then ask the photographer to take several pictures of the same one so everyone can have a copy. Depending on how many pictures you take will determine if you will need a photo package or not, we have only gotten it twice and doubt we will get another. You may be able to find a better deal online, or you may find a better deal onboard, it is really hard to say, one thing I have noticed is that the price really does not go down much! We normally walk away with 4-6 pictures from each cruise and find it cheaper to get them individually vs buying the whole package. They usually have a buy one get one 50% off loaded on our sea pass cards, I hope this helps!
  17. I was on her and got off on December 26th 2017, I had a great time, there were some things that needed some serious repair, but all in all I would gladly sail on her again! The entertainment was actually better than I expected and I can tell you that it was on par with entertainment that I have seen on Oasis class ships. We saw about 4 of them, several I went to mumbling and grumbling but actually ended up enjoying every one of them. The food was good, I will say that it was on par with every other cruise that we had been on, if you would have blindfolded me and put me on any ship I would not have been able to tell a difference (and I am a foodie) the only complaint I would have about the food was that what we had in the Windjammer was not as different as what we have had on a few other ships but that being said we usually go towards the larger ships. Obviously I did not starve and did not miss one meal so it wasn't that bad!!! Like I have said in another post, if you go on her with the attitude that you will have a great time then you will be fine. It is not Oasis but she is a mighty fine ship that I would gladly sail on again! I would not want to take a week long cruise on her but a 3 or 4 day cruise is perfect!!!
  18. Yes he is, and my GOD he is full of energy! He is a good pup though, last dog was a Golden retriever and the jury is still out which breed I prefer....but they are both great dogs!
  19. There are plenty of photo opportunities, I will have to admit that I have only purchased it once when I proposed to my wife, we did not take full advantage of the photo package but we came home with about 50 pictures. There are ample times to take pictures with different backgrounds, they also take pictures at every port that are included in the package price.
  20. Hello Jen and welcome! I have never cruised Disney, but I hope that you will enjoy your first cruise with RCCL, good choice with Oasis! I believe that you will have a great time on her! That being said formal nights on most 7 day cruises are going to be the second and fourth nights We have found that there are several things that we enjoy while we are onboard, I know there will be more places that people will chime in on that I may leave out! We absolutely love the kummelweck sandwich at the Park Cafe, please try a meal at Giovannis table everything we had there was wonderful! We also liked Chops Grill as well as Sabor, if you like Mexican then you should love Sabor! The food there almost brought a tear of joy to my eye, especially the extremely fresh salsa and guacamole!!! It is hard for me to answer this question because I am not sure what your demographic is, but usually it is the wife and I that end up on the larger and longer cruises and we are mid 40's. We have done just about anything from movies, to the Love and Marriage game show which is absolutely hilarious!!!! Another thing that you may want to check out is the Quest game show, it is held in the evenings and will have you laughing so hard that your sides will hurt! I am not sure what your preferences are but I can assure you that the two shows that I mentioned will have you laughing! If I remember correctly there is only one pool in the Solarium, with several hot tubs I hope that this helps! Have a great cruise!!
  21. Please listen to what @melski94 has said, I can assure you that if they do not go ahead and check in online they are wasting valuable vacation time. I have not taken one cruise yet where they do not ask for your set sail pass before you even gain entry to the terminal. I am sure that they do have a way around this, but I can assure you that you will be on the ship and they will still be waiting to board. Last cruise we went from curbside to onboard on a sold out cruise in less than 15 minutes. Something so simple to do does not seem worth the aggravation and frustration of not taking the 5 minutes to fill it out. I can assure you the five minutes not taken at home will cost WAY more than that starting once you get curbside.
  22. Lanyard here! I got a handful free at my job and threw them in my book bag with our set sail passes. When we checked in, I asked the woman checking us in iif she would mind cutting the holes in our room keys and of course she was more than happy to oblige! I have found that this is better that using a wallet/money clip because there is absolutely nothing I need to carry around other than my phone or GoPro so I can take pictures around the ship.
  23. I have been on several classes of ships, from the smallest in their fleet, to the largest and I will have to agree with everyone here that has stated that the age does not matter. We sailed Majesty of the Seas over Christmas, and from all of the negative reviews I was expecting the worst cruise by far. Someone was onboard and wrote a blog about their experience and that actually made me feel MUCH better about our Christmas cruise. After getting onboard with an open mind, I did see that a few complaints were justified but that we were still going to have a great time. The size and age of the ship do not matter, its the crew and your attitude that will make or break any cruise. If you get onboard with the expectation that you will have a great time then you will have a great time! I will say that I prefer a larger ship for longer cruises but I was extremely happy with her, and she is currently the oldest ship in the fleet. Give it a chance, I am willing to bet that you will still have a great time!
  24. I just got off of Majesty on the 26th of December before the dry dock, Oasis class is one of my absolute favorites. That being said if I had the option to cruise on Majesty again I would gladly do it. I would not want to spend a full week but for a quick 3 or 4 day cruise I would gladly sail it again! There were a few small issues that I am hoping that they fixed in dry dock, but the crew was great, and truly tried to make us happy. As long as you understand that it is an older ship and that it does not have all of the new and greatest things that the newer ships have but it was definitely worth my time. If you go expecting a Quantum class or Freedom class experience you will be highly disappointed, if you go just expecting to get on a boat, be entertained and catered to and have a great time then you will be very happy.
  25. Had a few slices on our Christmas cruise on Majesty of the Seas, and even though the cruise was great the pizza actually was not that great. Hard to explain but it was if the crust was brushed with something greasy before the sauce went on, it almost made the pizza inedible. I have had it on other ships and it was pretty good! I did not expect a great experience from it, but I would have taken a cheap frozen pizza easily over what we had! From my own personal experience it varies from ship to ship, every time I was on an Oasis class ship it was MUCH better than what we had.
