Grandeur of the Seas Casino

Recommended Posts

I am hoping for some information.  I heard that Grandeur's casino doesn't open on the first night when leaving Baltimore and closes the last day at 4. I have been on a cruise out of Baltimore on another line and their casino was open.  Is this true?  If so, my husband is NOT going to be happy. Any information would be appreciated!

Yes, the ship has to be beyond the 12 mile US territorial limit and due sailing down the Chesapeake towards the ocean you don't clear the 12 mile limit like you would leaving from a Florida port, or others.  Same coming back home, they can't open stores or the casino within the 12 mile limit.  If you are going to buy photos or anything in the store, do so before you reach US waters on the last day.

I have looked into it further and apparently Carnival Pride pays extra to have their casino open and Royal does not out of Baltimore.  Weird that we were comped a Junior Suite on Grandeur if we can't gamble 2 out of the 5 nights plus only after 9 pm when we are in Bermuda.  Oh well...live and learn not to cruise on Grandeur for gambling!

I'm surprised that the Pride can do that ..... When we were on Grandeur in '16, the casino opened at 6:00 Night 1...... then in '17, the morning of Day 2 .... we were under the impression that it was a problem with Virginia..... no casinos allowed, period.  Although I wouldn't put it past tax happy Maryland to have a hand in this equation, there are approximately a half-dozen casino's in the state and the state has a firm grip on those.

Maybe night 1 can be used for a nice dinner, and to enjoy some music instead?
