rjac Posted March 10 Report Posted March 10 We are now less than two weeks out from our first cruise out of Miami on the Icon of the Seas. Excitement is starting to build! Which terminal at the port will the Icon use for embarkation and debarkation. Thanks! Quote

It used to be the Radisson RED Miami Airport Hotel. Not sure if they were bought or just did a name change. Looks like a nice place for one night and they have a complementary shuttle from the Miami airport to the hotel. They also have a third party company that provides transportation to the cruise port at a cost of $15.00 per person. LTR and WAAAYTOOO 1 1 Quote

Best be sitting down when you see the room price, OUCH! I booked last December at a much lower price. Have you checked hotels at/near the airport? If you do, expressshuttlemiami.com can get you to the port unless the hotel has a complimentary shuttle. Good luck! LTR 1 Quote
Atricks Posted March 12 Report Posted March 12 Matt posted an article touching on it (And the new free airport transfers), but the vehicle traffic coming in and out of Miami port traffic has shot up in the last month or so, mainly because of the brand new MSC terminal right next to Royal's being opened up. Saturday April 12th is the first sailing of their new World America ship, which is also the same day Icon is leaving and is about the size of an Oasis class ship (capacity of 6,762 passengers, icon has 7600) along with all the other ships using the rest of the older terminals.  It just means traffic is about guaranteed to be beyond horrible getting out there (Regardless of bus, uber, taxi, or driving in yourself) and can't really be compared to past months before the new terminal was opened.  MSC Seaside is also using the new terminal (around 5100 capacity). If you are heading out there on a weekend Just pack your patience and get there before checkin (maybe even aim for 45-60 minutes before, it could take that long just getting to the terminal once on dodge island), it may be a good while before anything significant improves getting around on the weekend embarkation/debarkation days.    rjac 1 Quote

I can tell you for fact that the construction coupled with port of Miami Saturday cruise traffic that you will be in gridlock traffic heading in any later than that. rjac 1 Quote
Last2Know Posted March 13 Report Posted March 13 Currently on Symphony and can tell you that on Sunday (3/9/25), there was already a line to embark at 8:30 am. The queue was outside the terminal building by 9:15am. Traffic was congested but not too bad driving from Terminal V to Terminal A.  We parked first, opting to avoid the traffic for passenger pickups.  Conversely, VV’s Valiant Lady left on Thursday (3/5) and there was absolutely no traffic congestion at the port. We had a 3pm arrival slot for check-in and easily found parking in the adjacent garage.  I found VV’s check-in process to be a bit chaotic when compared to RCL & Celebrity but was told later that their system had been down, causing significant delays. rjac and WAAAYTOOO 1 1 Quote
rjac Posted April 1 Author Report Posted April 1 Atricks & tonyfsu21, A HUGE thanks for the recommendation about getting to Royal terminal at the Miami Port regarding traffic. We left the hotel at 9:30 (15-20 minutes from the port we were told by the hotel and van driver and arrived at the terminal at 10:45! Traffic was horrendous but moved along and the tunnel was closed due to construction. Thanks again for your tips! WAAAYTOOO and tonyfsu21 2 Quote
