We are booked on the Icon OTS next March in a Guarantee Junior Suite Sea Class. I have called and tried to get an upgrade to a Sky Class Junior Suite, which are not available. So, I'm wondering, what will we eventually end up with? Our first time with a "guarantee suite" and concerned. Thanks.Ā šŸ˜Ž

I had exactly this situation for an upcoming Enchantment cruise (Jan 2025). Ā I also wanted to upgrade my Suite GTY but I just wanted to switch to a ā€œregularā€ JS (as opposed to a GTY). Ā The price on the J3 had fallen below the cost of the XS (I think that’s the correct code for the JS GTY). Ā When I called to make that switch the Rep told me that they could not change my suite category b/c my JS had already been assigned even though it was still showing GTY on the website. Ā I asked him which suite we had been assigned and he told me. Ā It was an aft JS which would have been ok but I prefer something closer to the elevators. Ā I asked if we could switch to a different J3 and gave him the room number we wanted. Ā He told me that only the Revenue Dept could make such a change since the assignment was still ā€œtentativeā€. Ā He put me on hold and when he came back on the line, the room had been switched from the aft JS to the one I wanted near the elevators and the room now showed on the website and was no longer a tentative assignment.Ā 

My point in recounting this tale is, I think telling the Rep that I wanted to upgrade made a difference….so I think you’re doing the right thing by pursuing this as a potential upgrade scenario. Ā I also think that the intel about the Revenue Dept being the only ones to make your assignment ā€œofficialā€ is important information. Ā The next time you to talk to someone at Royal about this, ask them if they would please contact Revenue about getting an official assignment. Ā That way, if you don’t like your location or want to make some other change (upgrade ?), at least you are savvy enough to know that Revenue are the ones who can do that. Ā The CSR’s cannot do it, but they can get Revenue involved if they know that you know….
