mickjacket
Considering option to fly into and stay overnight in ft Lauderdale to save a little money. Anyone ever done this this for a cruise from Miami port, and if so your thoughts?
Matt
I can tell you this a very sound strategy. FLL is often much cheaper to fly into than MIA.
KLA
I've done this before, and it was a $30 Uber ride for a car of 4 of us to get from the FLL area to Port Miami. Highly recommend! Matt
NS8VN
We are cruising in January from Port of Miami and flying in to FLL and staying at the Holiday Inn downtown Miami. It was much cheaper than flying in to MIA. We wanted to stay close to port and the Holiday Inn is right across from Bayside Marketplace so plenty of shopping and eating options, but staying in Fort Lauderdale would have been cheaper, yes. I like the idea of opening the blinds in the morning and seeing our ship docked and waiting for us too, but that is one of those things where value is subjective. Funny enough, the flight home from either airport was the same price, so we are flying home from MIA. Don't know if that is just our airline and where we are heading but might be worth looking in to. WAAAYTOOO
A few years back it was always cheaper to fly into FLL than to MIA but lately, it has switched. For our Group Cruise, we are flying into/out of MIA this time b/c the flights to FLL were so much more expensive. Of course, by the time you pay for transfers it probably is a wash but MIA was a better option for us this time. Since we are flying in the night before we will find alternate transport from MIA to the hotel in Fort Lauderdale but on going home, we will take the RCI transfer from the port to MIA. You just have to check the prices. They seem to switch back and forth.
