It required we add everything - passport, photo, all the details. In fact in our case, if I remember correctly on that sailing, we could only upload photos and passport but couldn't select a time for boarding. We had to lurk daily on the RC website until boarding time was added for selection. There are several people who have reported that during normal check-in process, you don't have to upload passport or photo....but can select boarding time first and come back later to add the passport details and photo.
