Derek Terry
I read somewhere you can get sea sick meds at the pursers desk? Can anyone confirm this and advise iwhat they offer and if it works? Any other sea sickness advice is also appreciated. I got sea sick on the last cruise I went on so I'm going to need something. Thanks
JasonD
Derek, The pursers desk will give you Bonine... Its not as strong as dramamine, but still causes drowsiness.. They make a low dose dramamine which is equivalent to the Bonine. Start with a half of one and see what it gets you... markinct and Derek Terry
Don
Use bonine as preventative but If you do get sick, GO TO THE DOCTOR on board. They can give you a shot - fix you up in 30 minutes or so. Cost is about $75 normal hours, $125 after hours. Your health insurance will probably cover some of it. Small price to pay so you vacation isn't ruined. My wife has done it on two occasions - incredible fast results -- priceless! markinct and Derek Terry

Matt
Bonine works well, despite the drowsiness. For me, the drowsiness is that feeling of "I could use a nap". Not like you're falling over walking around. Derek Terry

The current model is good for 140 hrs. The previous models had replaceable batteries. They are available from Travel Smith or Aeromedex. Been using this since 1998-over 15 cruises, many TAs with complete success. It was developed for surgical recovery and chemo patients. Worth checking out! DocLC
I've also found them outside the medical center in a dispenser on some cruises. I also heard about Motioneaze today and might give that a try for my wife in case she needs it.
michelle
Most medical clinics on ships have a box outside of the center with Bonine and meds like this that guests can just pick up= kind of nice - In the past when I needed this - I would take the Bonine a day or so before boarding the ship - to get used to the feeling and get it in my system. just an idea.
