Valeena
In December we are going on a Christmas cruise oasis of the seas. There will be six of us. One of our ports is Jamaica. We have three different excursions that we bought through the cruise line. My question is are these excursions going to be safe since the United States has put out a level three warning for Jamaica? Generally, excursions are safe if you stick with the group and don't wander off. We have been to Jamaica twice. Most ports visited have a lot of poverty and crime, so one needs to watch out for pickpockets and such. Ditto in US cities. Royal does some vetting of tour operators, but sound judgment is always needed.
Ryan79
All of them are safe. That warning has been in place for years and is the same warning given to places like Dominican Republic that is flocked by tourists year-round. I did a week in Jamaica last summer and never felt unsafe. Most US port cities used by RC are just as unsafe as Jamaica. As long as common sense is used, it’s perfectly safe. AlmondFarmer
Be aware of the ever present risk of a contact high. I am sensitive to the smoke from the herbaceous flower of cannabis sativa and found a clothespin on my nose kept me safe. Zacharius
Most of the violent crime in Jamaica is centered around locals and the cities (especially Kingston). Even then, the vast majority of visits will be fine, though you would likely feel uncomfortable if you're not used to it. For someone who is just going on a cruise excursion, your number one concern will be to just keep an eye on your belongings and use your head.
