KruisingKrystal
Everyone knows that one of the drawbacks of the dining packages is that you can't make a reservation in advance. Yes, you can jump on board as early as possible, get to any of the dining venues and make all your reservations. That being said, if a specialty restaurant is fully booked, it's booked. I have had the experience myself of getting on early, going to Chops to make our reservation ( We had a Chops +1) and it being fully booked. For that reason for our upcoming Wonder cruise (spring break so high chance of restaurants being booked in advance) I booked Mason Bar brunch as a stand along and not part of a dining package. We do not want to get skunked out of Mason Bar brunch. I'm wondering, does anyone see an issue with this plan: Book a dining package ( looking at a 3 night for this cruise) and doing a bit of a switcher-roo. Basically, right when we get on board going to book The Mason Bar Brunch as a part of our package. If there is a spot, cancel our stand alone. If there are no openings, I can still cancel our stand alone reservation, and then slide into the spot we vacated... Would that work?? Xaa
I think you can transfer the reservations to your UDP and they will credit you the money. It's a back door, they may close it at some point if it limits full cost reservation revenue.
Ampurp85
This may become an issue as some of the fine now says you need to make some cancelations at least 24hrs in advance. KruisingKrystal, Wheeler825 and Xaa 2
twangster
Right now people have been using this hack. As more and more people do this it's is possible and likely Royal may change or enforce the terms and conditions so you could hack your way into paying double, once in the UDP and once by booking the venue directly when Royal doesn't allow cancellations to be converted. Let's face it. The UDP is offered at a discount with the trade off of having to book on board with whatever is available. That's why it's cheaper. As more people use this hack Royal will catch on and they will change the rules. This is inevitable. dr martini, KruisingKrystal, FloatyBoaty and 4 others
