Sushitex
I hadn’t really thought about it before, but when the new cruise terminal in Galveston opens in November, will all Royal Caribbean ships sail from that terminal, or will Royal use the older terminal for the older/smaller ships (those with 4 or 5 day sailings?) We have several cruises booked from November through March based out of Galveston- 3 on the Adventure and 2 on the Allure. Naturally, we expect to be able to use the new terminal for the Allure sailings, but have no clue about the Adventure. We are not too concerned about parking because we usually book with Lighthouse, but out of curiosity, is the Port of Galveston building a parking lot near the new terminal? Thanks for any words of wisdom or genuine news!
DunkelBierJay
My thought is it depends on whether there is more than one Royal ship in port on a given day. I think the larger ship prevails for the new terminal if there are two ships.
TXcruzer
Royal normally does not have more than one ship in port at a time in Galveston. A quick look at the Galveston cruise terminal website master schedule confirms this. I would imagine they would use the new terminal exclusively if at all possible, after all it is quite an investment. They are building surface parking right in front of the new terminal, it will hold 1800 vehicles, it will be nice since you won't have to walk across Harborside Drive or navigate the train tracks. CrznTxn
On our cruise two weeks ago the captain was asked that question. He stated that all Royal Caribbean ships will dock at the new terminal starting with the Allure of the Seas in November. We have Allure and Adventure in December out of that terminal. Terminal 1 will be used for Princess which is coming in December, Disney and any other ships that come in. Carnival also uses Terminal 1 on occasions when two of their ships are in on the same date. (See Google Maps on Galveston Cruise Terminal).
Sushitex
Thanks for all your responses. It sounds like Terminal 1 will be put to good use - I had forgotten that Disney and Princess will start to cruise out of Galveston.
