Polli
We have Verizon service, and will be on the Quantum of the Seas for the mid-Alaska sailing. We are thinking it would save money to just pay the $1.99 for basic wifi fee per person per day and skip the Voom Surf prices. But we are wondering if our phones will connect to our own Verizon service while in ports? According to the Verizon coverage maps, each of our ports (Ketchikan, Juno, Skagway and Victoria) are covered. But will that coverage work on board with all the metal on the ship? AshleyDillo
As long as you are close enough to land you will have cell service. There is no $1.99 wifi feature. That's simply a chat feature to communicate solely with others onboard the ship. LadyGlittersparkles and Polli
smokeybandit
If you're deep in the innards of the ship you may have trouble with the signal but I would imagine for the most part you'd be fine. Polli and sunshine3601
Moby Dick
Will our cells work on board the ship while in port? Only if you use a shellphone! <Yes, I know, I've used this before. It's the timing> MTNeedsAVacay and amymarie78 1

Psycho and Barb
Yes it should work. However, check to see where you are connected. If you see something like Cell@sea (Can't remember the correct nomenclature) your on the ships towers.

The ship towers are turned off once they get within 12 miles of shore Kathleen
