Emed 6-pack Abbott covid test insurance reimbursement

Hi. I am ready to get the 6 pack covid testing kit from Emed for my June sailing. I am a family of 4. Do I submit and get insurance reimbursement for all 6 pack or 4 only? Thanks.

You purchased 6, so you'll get reimbursed for 6, even if you don't use any of the tests.

However you probably won't get FULL reimbursement. Most insurance plans will only pay in the $12 per test range. I submitted my receipt for the 6 EMed tests and received a check for $72 from my insurance. Insurance is being made to cover the cost up to $12 per test for OTC tests - not the higher price for proctored tests.

That was my experience as well.

Most big insurance companies are offering at home tests "in network" for a full reimbursement. But none of them that I know of include this test as part of their network, hence the $12 cap.

If your insurance doesn't have an in network test option, then they'll reimburse you in full for these

You can also use your HCAP card to pay for these if you have one with your plan.

While you can certainly get a free test elsewhere, it is well worth the extra money for the convenience.
