HRD
I keep hearing to take a carry on- which sounds like I'm packing for the airport... What is the actual deal? Whatever I want to carry for convenience or do they only let you carry 1, or 2 bags per person, of a specific size? Also, if I'm bringing wine, do I carry in this carry on bag or pack it? Thanks in advance! MylesDots and HRD
HRD
Also- if I have a garment bag, do I have to carry with me or will they take with luggage?
Jerel
You can take on as many bags as you like, just keep in mind you will be handling them untill you get your room at about 1:00. And in order to be 'carry on' they have to fit through the scanner at security. Never pack your wine, always take it in your carry on bags. If you pack any liquids you will need to go to the 'naughty room' to open your bag in front of them and verify it's not alcohol (besides your 2). They won't open your bag without you, they'll make you come down and do it in front of them. The garment bag they will take care of, no need to drag that around. Personally I'd tip the porter to make sure it gets handled well.
WHStoneman
Yes they will open your bags without you being present. They will remove what they want and leave a list in your luggage what was confiscated and it will be signed by two witnesses. You will be able to retrieve your items at the end of the cruise. That's a better way of handling things. When it happend to us our bag just didn't show, we had to ask around just to find it. When we got sent to the room they were supervising the owners dig through their bags for them, saying they won't touch them. I like your experience better, in most cases it was just water and a waste of cruisers time.
dejagatkins
At the very least, you want to carry your valuables in your ship carry on. Such as jewelry, electronics, important meds, Some folks add bathing suits and the evenings clothes in case their bags don't get there before dinner. Michel
Your carry on should have only what you would need to survive 24 to 48 hours in case your check luggage got lost. So, like in the movie Spaceballs " bring only what you need to survive" :)
Matt
Also, if I'm bringing wine, do I carry in this carry on bag or pack it? Put the wine in your carry on
