itsaboutus
A little while ago I booked our second cruise trip for New Year 17/18...this time on Ovation out of Sydney to New Zealand. I have booked a superior grand and was just wondering if anyone would know if the royal suite program is just being tested here in Oz on Ovation for our upcoming summer season. The following 17/18 summer season isn't mentioning anything about the program. When I made the booking and picked which cabin we wanted it did say "sky class - superior grand suite", but there is a note on other cruise dates that the royal suites program is only applicable until 23 Jan 17. And really when it comes down to it, is there really anything different with the "sky class" advantages from what suites are already offered anyway. PS...on a side note...when I made this booking I couldn't believe how quickly it was being booked out so far in advance...just amazing!! My husband thought I was mad doing it so far ahead. WAAAYTOOO
There aren't many suite bennies for a Sky class that the regular suites aren't already getting. Probably the perk that comes immediately to mind is that Voom is included for a Sky class and the normal suites perks do not include Voom. Otherwise the suites perks for Sky and regular suites perks are pretty much the same.

Matt
I have Sky Class booked on Anthem and contemplated moving up to Star class for the benefits, but it's quite a substantial price difference that I'm not certain it makes sense for me. WAAAYTOOO
I think it all comes down to whether or not you would consider purchasing the benefits separately or not. For those who would pay extra for the all-inclusive beverage package + an all-inclusive specialty dining package (not that one exists...just basically, potentially eating every single meal on a specialty restaurant) + a surf and stream internet package for every person in the room then the cost of the Star class would be reasonable as there are other "intangible" perks like the Genie, personal escorting on and off the ship, etc. If you are not interested in those add-on packages and don't care whether or not you have a Genie, then the Star class is probably going to seem extremely expensive. Of course, there is the fact that the Star class cabins are the biggest and most desirable as well so that has to be a factor, too. I will have my first Star Class cabin next month. I will let you know whether I think the perks are worth the money but of course, such things are subjective so just b/c I do or don't think it's worth the money doesn't mean that anyone else may think it is or isn't. DocLC
Either one will earn your tab a point in the Quest. The suite key cards are one of the new "items" needed for the game. WAAAYTOOO
Christie
I miss my Genie. I wanted to take him home with me. There's really no monetary value to put on him (although we did tip him $100/guest). It was nice to go to specialty restaurants without worrying about it (no limit on the a la carte restaurants too), but I think it would have been better on an Oasis class ship which has better specialty dining in my opinion. WAAAYTOOO
(no limit on the a la carte restaurants too) Wow, I didn't realize that the a la carte restaurants were all you can eat, too ! That's pretty awesome. Dan will make a pig of himself at Izumi !!
Christie
That was the policy on Anthem... I'm assuming it's the same on Harmony

Terry and Kathy
Thanks for the info on the tip there Christie. Tipping is not part of the culture where I am from, so I always fret that I am over or under tipping. BTW we were thinking $1000 US but may rethink that.
