Dad2Cue
I like to check prices online every so often. I presently have an ocean view balcony but I can't check for a lower price even though the cruise is 10 months away. There is an ocean view "guarantee" but that isn't quite the same category. Is Royal "hiding" staterooms because there are plenty of ocean view balcony staterooms that cost extra because they are connecting rooms or have sofa beds. WAAAYTOOO
Even if a room category is sold out, you can still take advantage of a price drop, if there is one. Even though you cannot check it yourself, your Travel Agent (if you used one) or a Royal (if you booked direct) should be able to reprice for you. Andrew72681
One thing to keep in mind is that within the ocean view category there may be numerous categories. On Harmony for example there’s at least a dozen ocean view balcony cabin categories. So while you May see others open, be sure you are truly looking at the same category. Lovetocruise2002
You can most definitely re-price a sold out category. I just track the categories around the one that I booked and when those drop, I contact my TA and she checks on my category for me. More times than not, when there is a drop in others, there is also a drop in the sold out one. I have saved thousands over the years this way.
