Rescheduling a Cruise

Recommended Posts

So far my cruise hasn't been cancelled, but it isn't looking good as we are going in mid August. How soon can you reschedule your cruise after it is cancelled? Do you have to wait for your FCC to be given first? I am using a TA, but it is hard to contact them right now. I already know when I want to go if RC cancels this one. TIA

If you are looking to do the same time frame next year (+- 4 weeks) you could lift and shift right now provided it was a standard rate, Lift and Shift doesn’t apply to casino rates.

The best way to handle this situation would be to go ahead and book the “replacement” cruise now with a fully refundable deposit.  That way you can be sure to get the cabin that you want and you will be ready if they cancel your August cruise.  Royal has a temporary policy in place at the moment that will allow you to hold a reservation without a deposit but there are some limitations which your TA should be able to help you with.  If your August cruise is cancelled then you can either get a refund or have an FCC issued....but both of these options are taking a LONG time to execute.  If your August cruise is not cancelled then you can cancel the replacement cruise and get your deposit back if you paid one.

@Mrs. Thomas For a new cruise you have to do another deposit, so it is really up to you when you re-book. Then you can apply your FCC down the road, if it is more than the cruise fare you will get your deposit back. Earlier during cancellations it was taking month(s) to receive FCC, so if you see something it is better to book the deal than wait.

My other two cents is to not book so close unless you don't mind be disappointment or them holding our money. I had long since believed Sept would be the earliest but given the circumstances......

I am looking at October. I don't care to wait another year to cruise. I also don't have the money for another deposit.

I don't have the money for another deposit or to pay for another cruise. I also don't want to wait another year to do this. This is my family vacation. It is also a birthday present for my MIL from my husband. Honestly, if they cancel I may cry. I may have to just contact my TA to see what he says. I have found a date in October that is the same itinerary. I don't want to postpone it if I don't have to because my kids will have to miss school if we go in October. Why is it that a tube with wings that is smaller doesn't catch the crap that a huge ship does?:40_rage:

Your best bet is going to be to cancel now and take the full FCC or wait until it either goes or gets cancelled by RC and at that point you’d have to wait for Royal to issue the credit.

The airline industry has huge lobbying dollars behind it.

Do not cancel now, since you don't have the money to pay another deposit. Better to let them cancel, to get actual refund to rebook... or go by some miracle. They haven't been holding rooms without a deposit anymore, so if you cancel and rebook, you would have to pay one. A new reservation has a new deposit, since L&S are only for cruises a year later.

That tube is short and the ship is long....at most you  stay on one tube for maximum 10hours. People cruise for multiple days, making it easier in public opinion to catch something and blame.
