  1. We did fire back in November and loved it!!!! I was the first one in the group to go and the trust fall was hard. I finally closed my eyes and just told the guy to hook me up. Once that was done it was great
  2. If you are on Facebook join this group Bermuda Bound https://www.facebook.com/groups/886000204754846/?ref=group_header. They have a number of locals on the page that do all different types of tours and will customize them just for you and your schedule. This group is a wealth of information. Since it is your first time to the island and you are only there for 1 day I personally think this is they way to go. I think @JLMoran is also on the Bermuda Bound Facebook group. My family has spent many summers (a month to 2 months) in Bermuda back in the 70's & 80's (Dad's work sent him there very often) and still try to spend at least one week a year. We have rented houses, stayed with friends, stayed at resorts & have cruised. My next trip I will be at Grotto Bay on April 7th for a week & I'm looking to do Anthem in Sept or Oct 2019. You will love the island no matter what you do.
  3. We flew into Miami day of for our Nov 2018 Thanksgiving cruise on the Allure. My flight was nonstop from Philly and my sister's was nonstop from Atlanta. I got in around 11:15 & my sister around 12. We got our luggage, waited about 10 minutes for our Uber (not sure what the Uber cost my sister paid). We were on the ship by 1:00. I have always flown in the morning of for over 20 years and I always make sure that I have a backup plan and travel insurance.
  4. We went to that bakery too when we were there 2 weeks ago. The panini's were really good.
  5. I have to say that this year the Thanksgiving dinner on Allure as very good (I've had some really bad MDR Thanksgiving dinners on other cruise lines) . I had the turkey and it was not dry at all and even the stuffing was pretty good (I really don't like stuffing). My sister had the ham which looked good and she had no complaints. The pecan pie was good too. The only meal I sent back in the MDR was the rack of lamb. I asked for it rare and they killed it. They brought me a huge plate of jumbo garlic prawns (at least 15 of them) instead which were wonderful.
  6. Have a wonderful time in Bermuda! I did my first solo cruise to Bermuda on the Summit in May and had the best time.
  7. I did my first solo cruise on the Summit to Bermuda in May 2018 and really enjoyed it. I decided on Bermuda because I am very comfortable with the island. My family spent many summers when I was in my late teens and 20's house and dog sitting for friends that lived in Bermuda (they would go home to England for holiday). I just needed a last minute get away (I booked an inside room deck 11 45 days out) and since I live in the north Philly suburbs no airfare required! I thought I would feel a little out of place cruising solo but the ship is so laid back & relaxing. It was an older crowd (50's and up) but that's what made it relaxing. Not many kids. I did get a little bored the second sea day. Did MTD and the main dinning room staff were wonderful (I requested them for the rest of the cruise) . I sat at my own table which was what I wanted but the tables are so close to each other that I could talk to other cruisers of I wanted to. The ship is a little worn but very clean. IMO the staff was the nicest & friendliest I have ever experience. Café Al Bacio is a wonderful place to sit and get a latte or tea and one or more of their free pastry. I was there in the morning and again late evening for my late night treat. The shows were okay just something to do at night. I am thinking of doing another solo cruise on the Summit in May 2019. Can't wait to see all the upgrades.
