Leaving on a much needed cruise!
Lovetocruise2002 replied to Boston Babe's topic in Celebrity & SilverSea
Age is just a number...if people are fun, they are fun regardless of the age. I personally think with Celebrity is you have to know what type of vacation you are getting into...it won't be party city (stay away if that is what you are looking for). If you are in the mood for a more calm, understated, elegant? vacation, then I think it will be just fine. IIRC from @monctonguy's posts a while ago, there wasn't as many night activities compared to Royal. So if that is your thing, then X isn't your line regardless of your age. At least that's how I view Celebrity.... -

Lol...I try to avoid kids at all costs too ? All jokes aside, I get the Celebrity thing. I want to try it out myself too (and definitely without my kids). Yes, kids are hard to avoid on OA class ships as those ships naturally just draw out families. I will say though that there are so many areas on OA class ships to go, that you can stay away from the kids. Trust me, I've done it. Even without access to the suite sundeck (which pretty much is free of kids), Central Park is my oasis (for lack of a better word). I've spent hours there without my kids. -

Ok, yes sorry. Missed that part. Back to pushing the Canada/NE GC idea then...? -

The exact same thing works for me. School will be out June 26, 2020 and I am free to go anytime after that! See, @Matt @AnnetteJackson we are flexible people. ? -

You know it! Book Oasis class and no one will be bored. Maybe @Matt should call a July/August 2020 GC on OA class and then that will get you to finally cave ? -

Challenge accepted. When the new itineraries come out, I will look and we will see ? -
I have never sailed Ovation but I would think the Windjammer would have burgers. They are available there on every cruise I've taken.

Newsflash! @JLMoran @Baked Alaska @monctonguy...just learned on Periscope tonight... @AnnetteJackson Is the brains behind the GC! We've been harassing the wrong person! ? -
Found this on FB. Many of you probably have already seen it, but I thought this was too funny not to post here. The last few cruises, this has been me, it's all about the food pics! ?

Allure of the Seas tips

It is. Takes some time to read through it all but it really is a good guide. And if you have cell service in San Juan you can save it and use it as you go along. -

I found this guide really helpful for walking around Old San Juan. We were just there in July and used parts of this plan... http://www.puertoricodaytrips.com/old-san-juan-walking-tour-1/ -

I would expect nothing less from you or @JLMoran ? So you of all people should understand why I chose the YC over a JS ? I don't know why, but this part just cracks me up. A Twangster in full blog mode vs. non-full blog mode. ? Thank you for the detailed response. The Type A in me appreciates the explanation. Storing for the future because one of these days, I will sail Celebrity. Apologies @Boston Babe for hijacking...? -

@Boston Babe have a wonderful time and enjoy every moment of it! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on Celebrity as we will try it one day, and well, the opinion of a fellow suite snob matters. ? If it's anything like the butler on MSC, it is a bit overrated. But nonetheless, still a nice perk. -

At the moment...I'm good too for September 2020-June 2021. I would prefer July/August 2020 so it doesn't affect the kids and their school. I however, will be good to cruise! -

You mean July 2020 GC right? How can I toast your 50th bday in June?? ? And @Matt, we need to announce this Canada/NE GC for July/August 2020 to put poor @JLMoran out of his misery. Look at what the guy is analyzing these days! ? Umm... @mworkman...you know @Matt doesn't like to fly right...That would be a really long trip back from Barcelona. lol -
VOOM on all my sailings for 2 devices is at $30.38/night!

Funny you mentioned this, I just read another post on FB that the orange duck was the best thing ever! Food is indeed subjective. -

Shhh! You're not suppose to put that in writing! There goes our plan! ? -
I've always thought that if the rooms were actually sold out, then they offer a guarantee because the room might open up last minute as they move people around. C&A reps have told me many times that upgrades happen close to a sailing very methodically, thus freeing up whatever people were booked in. So for example, if I was booked in a GS (and they are sold out), and offered an upgrade to a OS and took it, my GS would free up last minute for those who booked a GS GTY. If the rooms are not actually sold out, then perhaps the suite guarantee gives them greater flexibility in where to put you. All speculation on my part.

@mworkman I wish! I will be in the classroom shaping our next generation remember? Our board doesn't allow for time to be taken off other than the school holidays.
