  1. I didn't do this in San Juan, but when my family and I sailed out of New Orleans this past February on a different line, we spent the morning wandering around the French Quarter before heading over to the port. We are early risers so we were up and at it early and had two or three hours before we headed to the port. Totally doable.
  2. That is good to know. I love me some pizza!
  3. It can't be as bad as the pizza like object that Disney delivered to us once via room service at Port Orleans Riverside. I couldn't even eat one slice!
  4. We are stopping at Costa Maya in February and it looks like most excursions are either beach or Mayan ruins. Our beach day is in Cozumel (thanks Matt for the recommendation of Nochi Coccum) and we want to see sloths in Roatan. What are some ideas for Costa Maya that I'm not seeing?
  5. I agree. They managed to have FUN with it. That email made me care less about what they decided (although I am very happy they honored it) and more that they owned the issue and wanted to make the guests happy. Honestly, one email has turned my perception of RC around after having fairly neutral feelings for them because they seem to want to refuse to take my money (I've had the bad luck of having my first two attempts to sail with RC cancelled and I can say I wasn't exactly pleased with how they handled it). This time, regardless of the decision, they did what they could. Kudos to their marketing and PR team for turning a giant bowl of lemons into some tasty lemoncello.
  6. Haven't received our email yet, but I have our confirmations. Very happy and I would say the email is the right attitude about it. It took awhile, but RC did right by me and then some. I will be sure to have some extra Krakken on the ship.
  7. This. I have taken great shots with all sorts of good and not so good equipment. I personally like to take a camera with me at times so I don't wear out my phone battery but I often just go with my phone.
  8. To me it's not about the mistakes. Those happen. But the length of time it was up, that their agents weren't informed and then the "Here, for the confusion you take the same sale that everyone gets" as consideration all add up to a giant pile of garbage for RC. Again, mistakes happen. I remember working retail and having items priced wrong. If I couldn't honor the price marked, I always offered a discount to the customer with an apology and a reason why I couldn't sell it at that price. It's not the mistake, it's how they handle it. I honestly could care less about getting the "deal". Just do better in your response. It's communicating a 'I don't care' to the guest which is just bad form.
  9. Mine also still shows the purchase and it got our credit card yesterday. I don't know how they don't make everyone mad without honoring the price. To say, "Yeah, our bad. To make it up to you, we will give you the same sale that would have already been on the package! Happy Sailing!" is a little insulting. I'd rather them have said they were not honoring but giving those who booked a $50 obc to "have a few drinks on us".
  10. Sigh. This is beyond ridiculous. Are all of the management team out for the holiday this week?
  11. Perhaps. I last worked in front line CS 7 years ago. If we gave out wrong information (and it happened - I did quality assurance for our team and caught agents giving out wrong information from time to time), we would get a friendly reminder, then a lecture, then a write up, then fired. We did fire a guy who intentionally gave out wrong information. Hard to believe that it's gone downhill that fast. And I get that the agents were getting pressured by customers to give an answer. They still need to be trained on how to deal with these types of situations.
  12. I am far less upset about not getting the rate (disappointed, sure. I mean, who doesn't like an outrageously good deal!) than I am about their whole way of dealing with it. The reps made promises they had no business making and the mistake was live for at least 4 hours - probably longer. As someone who has worked in IT, Customer Service and IT Customer Service (call center help desk rep for a major financial institution), the response would have gotten people reprimanded or fired. You don't make promises you can't keep nor do you leave a mistake like that up for hours on end. At least turn purchasing off and direct people to call in for those purchases where they can be told it is a mistake.
  13. They are Royal Caribbean. They can do whatever they want.
  14. As of 1900 CDT, we snagged it at $18 per day for us. Hoping it stands.
  15. We had an enjoyable time on Carnival. There were things we loved and things that we didn't enjoy. After next January, we'll have sailed on all of the major US lines (Norwegian, Disney, Carnival and Royal). I've yet to find a perfect line.
  16. The Triumph - soon to be renamed the Sunrise. We're sailing on the Liberty OTS next February ... unless my RCI luck comes back ?
  17. Technically, my next sailing is in 5 days on Carnival out of New Orleans. In a remarkable stroke of luck, it seems that this ship is also going into dry dock, but they've already redone most of her rooms so, from what we've been led to believe by several sources, we'll actually have a fairly recently renovated cabin!
  18. Sorry - my sarcasm got the best of me. Nothing is wrong with that sailing. The joke is that I've booked 2 RC cruises and RC cancelled both of them (one due to a ship going into dry dock and one due to a ship not coming out of dry dock). I joke that they must not like me very much. ?
  19. Thanks @Matt - I hope so as well. But, I still wouldn't book the 2/2/20 sailing on the Liberty. ?
  20. An update ... I spoke with an agent from RC earlier this afternoon and they are compensating me for our airfare. It helps that we were under the $200 per person limit for change fees (I caught a killer sale on Spirit), but an email and a couple of calls and it was taken care of. I kept calm and Catarina with Guest Services stepped up for us. Granted, it would have been nice not to have to ask for it back and have it offered, but, I'll take it. Hopefully, we'll finally set foot on a RC Ship next February 2nd. But, since this is our third go, I'd advise everyone to avoid the 2/2/20 sailing out of Galveston just to be on the safe side.
  21. Right now, I'm out a hotel room in FLL that I won't be able to use (prepaid - no refunds). I've asked them to cover my flights since I won't use them, but I'm not holding my breath. I hope my travel insurance will cover them. If I'm out $750 in flights, then I definitely won't ever set foot on an RC ship.
