  1. Or maybe just maybe people who already have had Covid don’t need a vaccine? But because they decide against getting a vaccine in the short term, they should just stay home and not be able to pay and enjoy a cruise? And pregnant women should stay home as well? Can I get a full list of everyone you would like to exclude from cruising?
  2. I think the difference is with the Yankees is that the cases were only discovered through regular testing. 5 were asymptomatic and 2 had mild symptoms. If the cruise lines were going to do daily testings then its more than likely some cases may be discovered. But I agree that with cruising, people will view any news about cases on a cruise ship as confirming its priors on their views on cruise ships. There is no way to make Covid disappear even on Vaccinated cruises. Just like pre-covid, there were people on cruises with cases of the flu and other illnesses that you never knew about it. Until the general public understand the meaning of cases of Covid and the media stops the fear porn, Covid cases on a cruise ship will be overblown and there will be those that want to shut cruising down again. Context and perspective is much needed now as Covid is waning as a pandemic and becomes endemic part of life
  3. That will be interesting because I dont believe Carnival is going to require vaccines for passengers which would mean that test sailing(s) would need to be done. A lot of "ifs" and wish casting for this sailing especially to be done in under 50 days
  4. I can see this sort of compromise that distinguishes cruising from basic goods and services in Florida https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2021/05/27/floridas-vaccine-passport-law-holding-royal-caribbeans-new-health-protocols-cruises Ms. Ritzenthaler praised Governor Ron DeSantis' efforts to help get cruise ships going on the federal level, and even thought the law makes sense for local businesses, "our governor was the one that started really pushing the CDC and talking to the White House." "When he came out with the policy that says that he will not require in the state of Florida people to show proof of vaccinations, he was talking about restaurants, bars, hotels, Disney, places that weren't cruise ships because at the time, cruise ships weren't open yet." She went on to say that cruise executives from Royal Caribbean Group, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, and Carnival are working with Governor DeSantis, "we're ironing out a statement that will articulate how cruising will be different than in the state."
  5. Yes and no. I think Cruise lines selling July and August cruises from US ports right now are acting in bad faith because of so much uncertainty there is about the feasibility of cruising in July and August. Test sailings, Florida law and the general timeline all point to increasing unlikelihood of widespread July cruises and possibly August cruises. I fully agree. Keep government limited in scope. Let businesses set their own terms of service and let the customers decide their fate
  6. I think Celebrity is acting in bad faith to sell a service that they know they may not be available to deliver. Though I think that a compromise will be made in the end, there is also a possibility that this sailing will need to be cancelled because it’s in clear violation. I think that they should have worked out all details of an arrangement with FL government before selling this cruise to consumers. conversely, I think DeSantis is operating in bad faith as well by not allowing business set their own terms of service. His stance runs contrary to his championing of cruises restarting. Going on a cruise and being required to show proof of vaccination is not like being denied basic goods & services because you are unvaccinated. I understand his desire not to create two classes of people in FL. The vaccinated and unvaccinated which can lead to discrimination by businesses. BUT, as many have mentioned, he could have made exceptions for certain types of business within FL. It’s one thing to be denied entry into grocery store because you are unvaccinated but quite another matter to not be able to take a cruise because you are not vaccinated. It’s a distinction that shouldn’t be difficult for DeSantis to see. Why would he politically be the sole reason for port workers to remain unemployed and cruise related tourism stopping in his state
  7. If it were just the Check in that was delayed because of finalizing protocols in a fluid time, I would be very understanding. but it’s becoming more and more unacceptable with every passing day, now 51 days out from July sailing, to have ZERO communication whether there will even be a sailing. NCL and Carnival has already announced July plans. Shows a lack of concern for paying customers and frankly is bad for business long term
  8. Yes and no. Two different issues the lawsuit had to do with CDC overreach His vaccine passport law prohibits businesses in FL from having vaccine requirements I think DeSantis painted himself in a corner. At first he was a champion of cruising returning but his passport law is now a stumbling block i am hopeful like others DeSantis and the cruise lines can come to compromise because I would hope DeSantis wouldn’t want to be the barrier that prevents cruising from FL. It would run contrary to his position on cruising returning to FL It seems to be a little bit of a political game now between the CDC and DeSantis. The CDC now can rightfully claim that they are saying cruising can resume in FL with vaccinated crew and passengers but DeSantis is to blame. Again, politics ruin everything
  9. Desantis chimes in... https://www.abcactionnews.com/news/state/governor-desantis-responds-to-celebrity-cruises-vaccine-requirement-for-fl-cruises DeSantis says the vaccine requirements put in place by the cruise line violate the spirit of the Governor’s Emergency Order 21-81, which prohibits vaccine passports and protects the fundamental rights of Floridians – including the right to medical privacy. The governor also says the policy would be a violation of Florida’s recently enacted law banning vaccine passports, SB 2006, effective July 1. "Companies doing business in Florida, including Celebrity Cruises, should immediately cease to impose such discriminatory policies upon individuals. Companies that violate this law would be subject to a fine of $5,000 each time they require a customer to present a 'vaccine passport' for service," DeSantis said.
  10. How will this sailing deal with Desantis' vaccine passport law? How is Celebrity planning to deal with this?
  11. Yeah, it’s terrible to be around people with dumb theories about Covid like people who believe wearing a cloth mask protects them from an aerosolized virus or people who think children should have been kept out of schools. People who wear masks outside. People who really believe Covid was first transmitted from an animal to humans. People that believe a higher rate of people are hospitalized from Covid than actually are. The point being is there is wild theories on both sides. Just because people chose not to get vaccinated don’t mean they are anti- vaxxers . Maybe they recovered from Covid, have natural immunity, etc. and guess what? On your November cruise, there will be unvaccinated people on that ship… oh, the horror!!!! Whenever you cruise beyond November it will be the same thing. I would suggest you cancel any cruises so you can be consistent with your beliefs
  12. Carnival and NCL have announced their plans now. Its time for Royal to follow suit and announce their plan to resume sailing with a detailed plan, namely for July and August. Not sure why Royal is always the last to announce
  13. thank you for the pep talk...i need it today....also didnt have my caffeine yet...lol I TRULY understand and appreciate the position that Royal is in and I am excited for a long overdue return to cruising after all the stupid roadblocks by the CDC. All I am asking for is just more communication. I dont want to cancel my July cruise in hopes it will sail because it will be Thanksgiving until work and school schedules allow travel. Regarding moving plans around for summer. There are already hard dates for plans already made. My Step daughter spends two weeks in summer with her Father. We only have a few flexible weeks this summer especially with Covid change of school year to get out June 11th. Also, just throwing more money out there to be tied up even if refundable is not desired.
  14. July restart for Freedom. remains to be seen on other ships
  15. Lets look at some numbers here: Symphony is currently in dry dock in Cadiz. How much longer will she be there? Lets say 2 more weeks. Today in 5/26. 2 Weeks from today is June 9th. It Takes 10 days to get from Cadiz to Miami. So that puts us around June 19th. I failed to realize that each ship needs to do a test cruise before revenue cruises are allowed. I was mistaken in my assumption that one test cruise would be good for all the fleet. So unless the CDC lifts this requirement then Symphony will need a test cruise. We now know that Freedom will be doing a test cruise on June 20-22. We also have heard that other test cruises have been applied for. No one knows how long from test cruise it will take to CDC to approve or deny. So my questions are: 1. When will Symphony leave dry dock? 2. When leaves dry dock what is schedule to return to Miami? 3. Has the Symphony crew been vaccinated? 4. Has Royal applied for test cruise yet? If so, what is the proposed sailing date? 5. When will Royal more announcements regarding test sailings? It seems time is running short for July sailings on Symphony. But Royal is not being upfront with its communicating for its fully paid passengers on July sailings. If there is a plan where the timeline works for the Symphony to sail in July on revenue cruises, I wish Royal would share with us. There are hotels, work vacations already requested, travel plans and also alternate plans to be made if July is cancelled in a summer with high travel demand which equals more costs for waiting. Many other options for this summer have long since been sold out. Am i being overly negative? Does anyone else see a realistic path for Symphony to sail in July unless there is a change in the CSO or CDC?
  16. When is Royal going to announce the rest of the plans for test cruising? Have they applied for test cruises on all ships they say will sail in July/August? Will some of these sailings forgo test cruises and go vaccinated route? It is 5 days away from June. I know everything is fluid now and rules may change but just communicate that. I shouldnt be 52 days away from a proposed July sailing with ZERO idea with what will happen with a ship that is in Cadiz that may or may not have to have a test cruise before revenue sailing. I keep hearing July but no firm, definite plan in place. This is getting to be unacceptable
  17. Thanks for confirmation. It’s my ignorance that led to assumptions. You know what they say about assuming... I WAS optimistic about my July 17th with all the recent updates and movement but now.... I just can’t make math add up
  18. So every ship sailing in July needs a test cruise first? Seriously, that seems redundant and how will cruises actually resume in Alaska and Florida in July and early August? I was always under the assumption that test cruises would be good for all ships fleet wide to resume revenue sailings. Wow! If test cruises are required for every ship then Royal needs to come out with a communication to its July and August customers that have fully paid. 53 days away from my sailing and I hope I am wrong again but I am just not seeing the math working for Symphony of the Seas to complete test cruise before July 17 when the ship is currently in dry dock in Cadiz
  19. Stand by while I consult my Oracle
  20. Did a local tour in St Lucia. Land tour for mud springs and waterfall, followed by speedboat out to the Pitons and snorkeling in a cove. Local lunch was great. Guide picked up local fruits i havent experienced for us to try and then the red rum punch! What a PUNCH!!
  21. Very true. Why dont they do a story on Vegas next? These people are desperate for clicks and live in some fantasy Zero Covid world.
  22. I’m old enough to remember when someone wouldn’t test for an illness unless they had symptoms... ah, the good old days...
  23. July 17th here.. just hoping for some news soon either way
  24. Sorry for stupid question. So, if non-revenue, volunteers would not pay anything. Correct?
