  1. Was on Oasis at the end of August. The amount of kids running around out of control was shocking.
  2. I find it difficult to believe you could hardly feel 21-foot waves.
  3. Sorrentos pizza, IMO, is one tiny step better than supermarket bought frozen pizza.
  4. How did the ship handle the seas? Was it smooth sailing?
  5. Wife and I are scheduled to be on OOTS Aug. 27 cruise. Wondering if recent cruisers had seen or heard of covid outbreaks on their cruises?
  6. Is there any way to find out who the captain of upcoming cruises will be? For that matter, their years of experience, etc...
  7. Everywhere. All 6,500 passengers coughing up a lung on all decks. No one disembarked unscathed apparently.
  8. Just curious...how do you know so many others were sick?
  9. "Honey we are finally on the ship. Look how nice the Boardwalk is!" "Leave me alone. I need to get a gin and tonic before we see anything because I need to unwind!" JK (To each his own!).
  10. I find it amusing (and somewhat distressing) that some write they need to start drinking the moment they get onboard.
  11. My wife and I are booked on Oasis of the Seas to the Bahamas at the end of August. We purchased the unlimited dining package weeks ago. Furthermore, last night we signed onto the RC App and were able to reserve times and dates for "Cats", "One Sky," "Aqua 80,' etc. Question #1 for those who have more RC cruising experience than myself. If we do not have the Cruise Compass for our upcoming cruise (and the June Cruise Compass I found online has different times for the shows than are available for our cruise), than how in the world do I know if Cats, for example, is scheduled for a time conflicting with something else I might like better for my cruise (e.g. Trivia)? How can you make a show reservation without the knowledge of knowing what else might be happening at that time? Question #2 that I would appreciate help with. When we signed onto the RC app last night, it allowed those who do NOT have the unlimited dining package to reserve specialty restaurants on the days and times of their choosing (albeit they would pay full price for that restaurant). Conversely, it (app) does not allow me to reserve the times and days (and restaurants) of my choosing. Common sense tells me that by the time I get on the ship to make my restaurant choices, all the times and places I want will have already be reserved by those who did not pay for the unlimited dining package. "Sorry Sir. Chips Grill got totally booked weeks ago..." It feels like those with the Unlimited Dining Package are being penalized and sent to the back of the line... Any advice would be welcome as my phone calls to RC's cruise planner department were, well, useless. To those who respond, thank you in advance!
  12. Smokey: I care. When is the last time you ate in a 5-star restaurant and your coffee was served with an IHOP package of sugar? Part of the allure of sailing for me is the ambiance of the experience. When I sit down for breakfast on a cruise that is costing me thousands of $$$$, I don't want to see a box of Eggos sitting in the Windjammer next to the toaster. If I want the IHOP experience, I'll go to IHOP. If I go on a cruise, I don't want it to be a WalMart experience. I want to feel as though the cruise line cares about the product they are presenting to their customers.
  13. To those who write "jumbo shrimp is the actual sizing of shrimp" and "IHOP sugar packets are better than no sugar packets" I think you miss the point of the post and that is: RC is cutting costs all over the place. The shrimp apparently were tiny and the visual of an IHOP sugar packet on a $$$$ cruise isn't exactly encouraging. Frankly, the amount of people who have been mentioning how RC is cutting corners whenever they can is disconcerting to me since I will be sailing on RC for the first time this August. Then again, there are those who think Carnival is the Cadillac of cruise lines, so who knows what to think at this point. One man's microscopic shrimp is another's man's feast, I guess.
  14. Thank you to everyone who responded to my question(s)!
  15. I think my reading comprehension isn't what it used to be as I am still confused. In regards to what you (Ampurp85) wrote, five days before I cruise my concierge reaches out to me and I make dinner reservations for the week. I tell him/her I want Giovanni's on Monday, Chops on Tuesday, etc. Done. I am all set. But then you wrote I cannot make reservations before I board, I get one courtesy reservation, and the concierge does not make any other reservations for me. Then you wrote that because I am staying in a Grand Suite I get access to a concierge who WILL make reservations for me. When? When I board? When I speak to him/her five days before the cruise. I sincerely appreciate everyone responding, but I admit to still being unsure of how the dining package reservations work. If I am understanding correctly what Amanalo217 wrote, I speak to the concierge before my cruise, give them the restaurants and times I wish to eat, and everything is then taken care prior to my boarding. Am I missing something?
  16. Looking to get a helping hand from my fellow cruisers. My wife and I will be sailing on RC for the first time this Fall (Oasis of the Seas). We're Sky Class (Grand Suite). I've called RC and spoken to five different representatives who keep giving me conflicting answers. So...I'm coming here to the experts for help! We've signed up for the 7-Day Dining Package. I am told that we will be assigned a restaurant and time for either the first or second night of the cruise. I am told prior to sailing, RC will also assign us to restaurants for the remainder of the trip along with reservation times. BUT if we do not want the restaurants and times they have assigned us to pre-cruise then we need to hustle onboard embarkation day, meet with our concierge ASAP, and let them know any changes we might want to make (e.g. not wanting Chops at 7 PM on Day 3, but Giovanni's at 6 PM instead). IF this is correct, don't we run the risk of thousand of others cruisers getting on board that day and 'taking' up all the times and reservations we really want? It seems like the system is a free-for-all with first come, first served. Any advice or past experiences would be welcome. Thank you!
  17. Was ANYTHING to your liking on the cruise? I mean, were even the pillows soft?
