  1. I recall WOW bands in April this year on Wonder.......then wondered what good they were when servers/bartenders asked passengers to remove them so they could process their drink orders. Removing my Sea Pass card from the lanyard pouch seemed easier, and no additional cost. Observed the same thing in shops onboard.
  2. Can't wax political here, but suffice it to say the permit will be renewed, the Conch Republic will secede from Florida, and a civil war will ensue.......
  3. 2 weeks ago on Mariner the great Promenade blowout sale began once we were offshore. Buy 3 cartons get one free. Didn't pay attention to the price either, since price is what inspired me to quit. But here's a question to ponder. Port Merchants on Mariner sells cigars & cigarettes. What they don't sell is lighters......anywhere on the ship. I packed 2 lighters, gave one to a woman in the 'leper colony' that didn't have one........and lost my backup 2 days later.
  4. Our power bill sees to it we love 78 in the summer & 75 in the winter. As far as ship HVAC, I've observed newer appears to be better. On Wonder, we could've hung a side of beef in our cabin at the midpoint setting. Jewel & Mariner required a little more finesse with the thermostat.
  5. With all the bootie displayed, one could open a tea room/coffee shop, a dry cleaning establishment and with that one heavy gauge extension cord, its owner could have packed a table or radial arm saw and done a little woodworking in their cabin.
  6. Last cruise we decided it was a one suitcase trip and left the hoity toity at home. But, on Formal Night we ate in the Windjammer out of respect for the event and folks who want to dress nicely.
  7. Beyond Meat & Impossible items stocked in the grocery we shop aren't moving like they once did, and are often on sale. The lab grown stuff sounds all ghoulish, but after reading the ingredients list in Beyond Burgers............sounds like a high school chemistry project. I'll stick with the real deal, if it's gonna kill me, at least I know my enemy........and at age 70, not big on my list of worries.
  8. Hey, we resemble that remark! You left out the ambiance of seagulls pooping on the Plexiglas canopy over your head. Whatever doldrums the share price experienced recently seem to have been exorcised. And....RCCL is now running a positive P/E ratio and net margin...........and we all helped!
  9. https://www.royalcaribbean.com/faq/questions/prohibited-items-onboard-policy While essential oils aren't specifically banned, there's a couple of points in the prohibited items list that could be broadly interpreted. Their ship, their rules. You could call customer service and ask. What you get for a response? Well...... Bottom line, if it concerns you, they're expensive and you don't want them seized, leave them at home.
  10. Our last 2 cruises (Wonder in April, Mariner last week) were crazy efficient with the embark/disembark process. We're 11:30 to 1:00 pm "embarkers" and do the luggage assist disembark at whatever time we're given. But man, the crew on both ships were like a well oiled machines, especially with disembarkation. Wonder's was memorable because of the tornado warning that was issued and everything was paused til the thunderstorm passed. We were waiting in the MDR and treated to a couple hundred cell phone push alerts going off simultaneously.
  11. Did nana do the perp walk? Sort of related; some clown apparently took our room service breakfast order tag off our door before they were collected on our deck on our recent cruise. Called Room Service 90 minutes after requested delivery time passed. The crew member I spoke with checked, sure enough they didn't have an order for us. He apologized, stating tag grabs are a favorite pastime of drunks and kids. Reaffirming my faith in the species.......
  12. The demand for plant based fake meat seems to be declining. A fad? I'll admit to eating the occasional Beyond Burger at a Florida based upscale burger chain until they closed the neighborhood store. Were it not for the condiments, it would have been completely devoid of flavor and had a really weird texture. I really went for the peanut oil fried onion rings which were out of this world.
  13. Mariner of the Seas for us. Our first cruise and our most recent. And now she's gonna be redeployed to Galveston..... Why, Royal, why????
  14. We haven't struck the bone yet, but I absolutely understand. Our recently concluded 5 day on Mariner was our lowest in onboard spending and addons to date. And for the second consecutive cruise, we spent less on a la' carte booze purchases (including additional gratuity) than the cost of the DBP for 1. Not for everyone, but works for us.
  15. Probably more out of an abundance of caution until an investigation is completed and a probable cause is determined. RCCL goes to great pains to inform passengers these excursions are third party, not owned by RCCL, and they bear no liability. Locally reported third hand interview on the news with a ferry passenger that stated the deceased was confined to a wheelchair and on oxygen. If true, the listing of the boat could have made her extraction and rescue problematic. Sad, sad story. With the regional weather what it is with a developing low off the SE Florida coast, the winds in the Bahamas and East Coast Florida have been to say the least, brisk.
  16. This isn't hard. In the cruise ticket/contract, it's there in black and white. Disembarkation, permanent trespass from a cruise line, no refund of fare would seem plenty of incentive to abide by the policy. And has been stated in a discussion thread on this forum, what may be legal in your state of residence ISN'T allowed on a cruise ship...........though it happens, especially ganja. Oh, and if you're "holding" in a foreign port, you and your bags on the pier with no refund and a DIY trip back to the US would really inspire me to respect the rules.
  17. There's something to that. We've eaten in Chops on Mariner and Chops on Jewel. Had 3 night dining package on Jewel, We both had filet at Chops, and Mrs. Geezer had a filet at Giovanni's (while yours truly like an idiot ordered the gnocchi). Mrs. Geezer reported the Giovanni's filet was hands down better than the Chops filet on either Jewel or Mariner. Must be in the preparation................
  18. Dunno, but I'm thinking the absolute last thing I'd be worried about was getting 30 seconds of fame on Tic Tac, Tic Toc, whatever the hell it is.................
  19. We have a Visa issued by Chase. What you're describing happens to us with some degree of frequency with any type of purchase. Posts to the credit card today, gone tomorrow, returns a day or two later. My wife watches financial activity like a hawk since we've been victims of a lot of funny business over the last 6 years to the point both of us pretty much have eternal free credit monitoring from a variety of companies. If Cruise Planner is showing your purchases ordered/paid, check the card activity daily. They will likely reappear. Alternatively, call the card issuer's customer service. If you don't have a transaction #, provide them with date of purchase, amount, and merchant name. That should be sufficient for them to track it down. As long as the excursions didn't vanish from Cruise Planner, you're still good on Royal's end and it's likely a card issuer faux pax. Chase has never explained why this happens beyond "it sometimes happens".
  20. Ironic. Save the trees was the reason offered for the introduction of plastic bags; yet a paper bag will break down and degrade in a landfill. Last sea day on Mariner, I was on our balcony and watched as a plastic bag took flight from somewhere above and forward from our cabin. Sailed way up in the ship's air draft until it cleared the stern.....then unceremoniously crashed into the wake to begin its drift for how long and who knows where.
  21. Igor, grow me a tenderloin for 2, rare!! Nah....... Maybe a pizza from Sorrentos.......
  22. Supposedly, allegedly, the parking garages (like CT 3) will be equipped to accept E-Pass & SunPass; even better than stuffing a credit card in a slot. An attendant at the CT-1 garage told us last year that was the plan and it was shelved because of the precipitous drop in port revenue due to the Pandemic. But anything other than a paper ticket will be a welcomed improvement.
  23. Our experience last November on Jewel at CT 5 influenced our decision to use portparkingspace.com. Not huge savings ($21 less than official port parking) but the convenience and the stress free ride to the terminal and NOT being in that hideous line of cars futilely seeking parking in the garage was worth it. And, since the bus entrance is different, I was treated to views of a dope sniffing dog doing his thing with the luggage carts at the Carnival terminal. Also noticed contractor is preparing to sink pilings for a new parking garage in what was an overflow ground lot in front the CT 5 garage.
  24. Shame on me, I didn't mention the last WOW moment on Mariner. Despite the conflicting disembarkation group tag/app info, it appears Royal Caribbean has perfected the disembarkation process (at Port Canaveral anyway). Left our cabin at 7, Windjammer for breakfast at 7, reported to Star Lounge at 745, waiting on our 815 group call which came at 8. Off the ship and through baggage claim/CBP at 815. Walked to the shuttle parking area where the Portparkingspace.com bus was waiting. Luggage loaded, Mr & Mrs Geezer aboard, back to the parking lot and on our way out of the port and to Death Race SR 528 at 845. Our best embarkation/disembarkation experience yet. Saw the southbound Brightline train hauling the mail west of Cocoa. How I wish there was at Station in North Cocoa.............NOW!!!
  25. Home again. Enjoyable cruise, other than some rock and roll ocean on the way down and then the Yucatan Channel heading back to the Gulf, the weather was great. Think we've ruined ourselves with suites though. The "Extra Spacious Balcony really spacious, nor was the balcony. Missed a table to sit and eat, however big or small, and Mrs. Geezer missed a bathtub. Ship and crew were wonderful, but the vapers vaping where they shouldn't, the disciples of smokable herbs, and the falling down drunks, not so much. Had a 'carnivalesque' air to it. Now for Royal Caribbean, who screwed the pooch on 2 counts. We selected 5:30 MDR seating (on the reservation receipt), we got My Time. Talked to the dining room manager to try and get what we requested and received the venerable "there's nothing we can do" response. Completed our disembarkation procedures preferences, we received luggage tags for Group 8, the info. on the app which is allegedly gospel said Group 26. And Royal should hire me to prepare the Chicken Parmesan and Mrs. Geezer to do the Chicken Cordon Bleu. What a profound, bland disappointment. However, I discovered how to get the paper thin NY strip in the MDR cooked to perfection. Just asked our waiter to bring it out still mooing! Way better than the shoe leather that was served in the MDR on Wonder & Jewel.
