  1. Thank you! Yes, one would think the concierge would book these for you, but perhaps that's changing too. Hope you enjoy the cruise.
  2. Where did you see Crown's Edge? I don't see it in onboard activities and was wondering if it was listed somewhere else. TY
  3. Thank you for your thoughtful reply. The information was very helpful. I think I will stick this one out. I mean, how often do you get to do an inaugural cruise and at only 4 days onboard, I think it might be worth it to fight the fear of the camera. Thanks so much for your help! ENJOY the cruise...We can't wait!!
  4. Just realized that we are on the inaugural cruise for Utopia. Do you really think the bloggers, bloggers, travels agents -- love them all-- will be on in a pre-cruise? I was thinking of changing the date because as much as I love watching their beautiful videos and all the information they share that we need to cruise, but I don't want to feel like I'm constantly looking out for a camera trying not to end up in someone's video. Didn't know they may be on a pre-cruise and want to figure that out before I change the date of the cruise...Ugh, was so excited about the cruise I didn't pay attention.
  5. Hello, What is the difference in what you can order from the menu (appetizers, entrees, and desserts) between pay by the restaurant vs. getting the UDP ? Also, on Wonder they indicated that with UDP you get 1 dinner each night and on sea days 1 dinner and 1 lunch so what is unlimited? Thank you
  6. Hello, I was just wondering if scheduling 2 restaurants on the same day worked out. On a recent cruise on Oasis, we were told by the concierge that we could only have 1 dinner reservation each port day and 1 dinner and 1 lunch on sea days with the UDP. We were surprised since customer service (prior to the cruise) indicated that the UDP could be used for multiple dinners a night as long as there was a reservation available. When we got back, I checked with customer service (they indicated that they would call the ship to find out what happened). As it turns out they indicated that the concierge was correct (regardless of availability you may only have 1 dinner on port days and 1 dinner/1lunch on sea days under the plan) and apologized for the mistake made by customer service. So, I was just wondering what your experience was. Thank you
  7. Sorry, I don't have any information on the Grove. All I have seen is what you have mentioned. However, we are in star class in January, and like others, it will be the last SC for a while, so hoping to be able to check it out. I thought it would be something like the Solarium Bistro (just table service rather than buffet) since the SB only seems to speak of lunch. What's the family suite in your chart?
  8. Yes. I asked the suite concierge, Guest Services, the waiters that directed me back to Guest Services, and when I got off I called RCL. The call resulted in many different answers, but none of which indicated more than 1 meal per night.
  9. No issues with ordering more than one item, etc. in the specialty restaurant. The issue was scheduling more than 1 specialty restaurant per night. I have it in writing from the suite concierge...I had dinners planned for 5:00PM and 9:00PM. I asked if the concierge could schedule our dinners, she came back and wrote the following...The Unlimited Dining Plan includes 1 dinner at any specialty restaurant a night and 1 lunch on sea days. You cannot schedule dinner for two specialty restaurants on the same night. When I arrived to the ship, I asked about availability (believing that was the issue and not that I was limited to 1 specialty restaurant per day). There was availability without any issues however, I was told that 1 dinner would be covered under UDP and the other would have to be paid for outside of the UDP. This was on the 6/23/23 sailing on Oasis so, very recent.
  10. I checked...They said the restaurant was available...In fact, none of the specialty restaurants were busy when we went--on average about 5 or 6 tables filled (even Chef's Table only had 2 other couples). I asked the suite concierge and she said, only 1 specialty restaurant per night on UDP and lunch on sea days. If you doubled up on specialty restaurants, you would be charged for the second trip I think it's fine, but just wish they would put that in the guidelines under the UDP so you are aware. That way you can make a decision on whether UDP is actually worth it or if buying individual restaurants would work better.
  11. Well, that's what I heard you could do, but apparently that doesn't work anymore. Too bad,
  12. Aah, well that was very helpful. It should be written somewhere that unlimited isn't really unlimited. We paid for UDP and each restaurant. I mentioned the dessert at separate restaurant because that was on this blog too (as a way to maximize). Thank you very much for clarifying. For the next cruise we just bought each restaurant and lunch instead of the UDP. It wasn't much of a difference in price. Thanks again!
  13. Speaking of food...I was on Oasis of the Seas June 23rd sailing (with UDP and staying in a suite) and I was told that I could not make a reservation at 2 specialty restaurants in one night and that UDP was limited to 1 specialty restaurant a night for dinner and lunch on sea days. So, what's right? I tried calling RCL, but the answers were all over the place. Why is it called unlimited if you cannot eat at more than 1 restaurant a night or even have dinner in one and dessert in another?
  14. Hi, I read on another post (which I cannot seem to find again) that you could use the UDP to eat at a specialty restaurant at 5:00PM and 9:00PM on the same night to maximize the value. I was on Oasis of the Seas June 23rd sailing (with UDP and staying in a suite) and I was told that I could not make a reservation at 2 specialty restaurants in one night and that UDP was limited to 1 specialty restaurant a night for dinner and lunch on sea days. When you have the UDP you can eat at any specialty restaurant any time the restaurant is open, if the restaurant can accommodate you.   Generally, that means as long as they have a table available.  There are a couple of exceptions- primarily associated with the Ala carte restaurants (Playmakers, Izumi etc).  For those restaurants, you can only go once a day.  I have never tried to make more than 1 reservation per day, for lunch and dinner, so I don’t really know whether there is a rule about making multiple reservations, but that wouldn’t surprise me.  I’m guessing they would limit you to 1 reservation each for lunch and dinner and any other restaurant that you may want to visit would be on a “space available” basis.  The statement that you would be limited to only 1 restaurant each for lunch and/or dinner is inaccurate. Frankly, I cannot even manage to eat both lunch and dinner at specialty restaurants on the same day - it’s just too much food - so the thought of 2 evening meals is more food than I could ever eat.  But it’s not forbidden.
