  1. I did meet one guy.  Ran into each other few times through out week.  And he asked about the tipping.  He wasn’t sure it was “allowed” since it was already included in the drink package.  He was also unsure of when to tip. Since there’s no bill or receipt to sign.  I simply said hand it over/ just leave on the bar.  They’ll know what it is.

  2. Last cruise.  Voyager solo trip.  I gave room attendant an extra 70$. He was Beyond grateful and deserved it.
Various bars with the drink package. I still left a five/few singles every couple drinks. Or sometimes I walked up and left a ten with the first drink. Alway great service. Always brought some small bills with me.  Even in hot tubs.
Did unlimited dining. Sat alone.  Only ate at Giovanni’s and Izumi.
left 15/20 each time.  Service was excellent.  By second night I was a regular.
    They remembered and appreciated it.
They all work hard, some of the nicest people I ever met are Royal employees.  They deserve anything extra.
After 1 week probably 70 to room. Another 150 to dining staff. Also another 200 to bar staff.

  3. Been on 3 cruises.  2 in past 3 months.  All solo.  I’ve met plenty of great people on the ship and the beaches. Plenty of people to talk to if you’d like.
You can do whatever/whenever. Plus the one benefit? Not arguing with someone, that’s priceless. I always see those couples everywhere, the unhappy ones that would be much better off traveling solo. My last trip on Voyager out of San Juan, I kept having people comment that I looked so happy, it was because I was. I had a great week.

  4. Went on 1st RC cruise in November, decided to get the visa card shortly after. I understand it has nothing to do with RC, its run thru Bank of America. First several times using it on Amazon had to contact BOA to authorize, repeatedly. Uber and Lyft same, had to continually get on phone with BOA. Last used with Jetblue, on their website, said your bank will text a security pin-even after doing all that card was denied because of security issues. Boa then figured the number was the issue, so sent me new card. Same results.  I spent maybe 4 hours on phone with over a dozen different people. I got the 300$ OBC, but wasn't worth the aggravation. Just closed the card. Fyi for anyone thinking about getting it.

  5. Also elevators usually slow, I mostly took stairs.

Had 2 massages, spa was terrific.

Still trying to decide which cruise was better, only being home for a day, this one or Symphony out of Miami to St Thomas/Martin and perfect day. Both ships had their positive and negatives. But Im thinking I liked the Voyager trip slightly better overall. Both felt like same crowds. Even with the 4000/6000 capacities , with Voyager being much smaller than Symphony.

Symphony buffet seemed more crowded, I think i read somewhere that the Oasis class has smaller windjammers?

Would be nice if buffets open at 6, would reduce the crowding at the 7 opening time.

  6. Voyager of Seas ,Just returned. 2/5/23-2/12/23. I had seen this post weeks before I left. My last cruise was on Symphony 3 months ago. Ship is 25(?) years old but in great shape. Recently upgraded. Some older design is noticeable. But well maintained. I flew down from NY Sunday morning and was on ship by 1130. Had an interior virtual balcony. Room in great shape,Comped thru the casino. This itinerary looked great thats why I chose ship. Traveled solo, had the drink pack and unlimited dining. Crew was amazing , everyone i saw seemed know my name. Bar service always excellent. Windjammer for breakfast at opening time, everything for breakfast was fine and Alternated between sushi and Giovannis every night. Each dinner was perfect. Service/Food. Then again i dressed well and tipped well, i think the managers and waiters appreciate that.  Saw many nicely dressed ladies with guys in shorts and t-shirts in restaurants. I work in construction, Its not that hard to pack some sport coats and shirts. Royal should definitely enforce dress code.  Lunch was always ashore. Met a lot of nice people, crowds were typically busy but everyone was there to have a good time. Band played mostly spanish music, talking  to crowds in spanish around pool but seemed fine with everyone. Didn't hear anymore spanish then on Symphony. But the ship does leave out of Puerto Rico so can't be surprised to hear spanish. Lots of large families traveling together which seems like a lot of work to me. But crowds were always fun. I didn't go to MDR, only to buffet at opening time.

Casino was small, no craps table or video poker. I was definitely surprised. My one issue

Itinery was perfect, St Thomas, Martin, Croix, Kitts,Lucia and Barbados. No sea days

Also met dozens of travelers doing multiple weeks at a time, some were 8 weeks

Would definitely book again , liked both the ship and crew. Leaving out of PR, it was nice to be in St Thomas next morning.

  7. Hello all, first post. Was on first RC cruise in the Fall on Symphony, next is on Voyager on Feb 5 out of San Juan to Southern Caribbean. I Have the Unlimited dining pack, traveling solo. I didn't visit specialty restaurants on Symphony, but do the specialty restaurants have bars, bar seating? Perfectly fine eating at the bar if a possibility. Thanks
