  1. My brother & I were drinking beers at 1:30am and the live music set didn’t seems to be near completion. This might have been due to the holiday sailing. I can’t comment on how well they sound proofed the venue but if the engineers did 1/2 as well sound proofing as they did designing that amazing venue then I would say your kids won’t hear a thing.
  2. Did you miss the large 20’ walls isolating the Labadee peninsula? Also, there are armed guards stationed at the entry points armed with side arms and assault rifles. I have been recently with absolutely zero issues regarding safety. Labadee is a great & safe destination unlike the remainder of Haiti proper which is a war zone.
  3. Yep, I agree with this. Slide everything. I do think they need to differentiate the D+ (340 point level) by adding perks that currently don’t exist like maybe a free shore excursion or something along those lines. The Pinnacle level should provide much more than the current bogus offerings. Anyone who reaches this level should be given nothing but the best that RC has to offer and I personally think they fall short on providing the most loyal guests with anything special. I may get flamed for that statement but anyone who has reached this level needs to be well taken care of.
  4. Yes, they will be up in arms but it will be for the better once the dust settles. The Diamond lounge is an absolute waste of space IMHO.
  5. Axe the top tier loyalty event and create something better because RC can do better for the top customers. Instead of listening to the captain tell jokes while drinking cheap & watered down drinks I suggest the following (possibly starting at D or D+): - No organized get together - complimentary drinks for the day (Top Tier Day). - Voucher for speciality dining or on a certain day have a specific menu option (perhaps food and wine pairing) in the MDR only for top tier. - spread the comps across all levels, perhaps 1 complimentary drink per day once you get to emerald. - bring back the sunset sail away party on the bow of the ship because it was a great party (IMHO) better then any top tier event. - phase out the diamond lounge completely and transform into another dining or bar concept.
  6. I agree, toss the entire C&A program in the toilet and flush it. With that being said, I think the Royal Suite program is due for an update…
  7. It’s time for another program refresh. Get rid of the BS across all tiers that the majority of people don’t use and provide more value options that actually get use. At some point they will need to either slide the point scale or create a new level (or 2) anyway. Does anyone give a rats ass about the diamond lounge? Phase it out. Give us more free drinks or a voucher for speciality dining. Once you have reached D, D+ and above I think that loyalty should be recognized a bit more by a company that depends on this customer base for their bottom line.
  8. It’s not worth it, trust me. There’s nothing “free” in the casino. The amount of money you are going to potentially lose trying to get to prime is silly when you consider the “free” cruises are normally inside cabins on undesirable sailings and the fact that you dont drink alcohol so you can’t take advantage of the free casino drinks.
  9. This advice is great if you are a gambler and will be in the casino enjoying everything there is to enjoy in the casino regardless of the points. I wouldn’t advise someone who is not a seasoned casino player to pump money into a machine or a table to try and get to prime for the free drinks and crappy casino certificates. I just doesn’t make good sense.
  10. This approach is not advised. Based simply on the casino point formula alone @ $5 per point you will spend a significant amount of money unless you are really lucky. Besides everything I mentioned, the casino royale program is no longer what it once was and the heavy discounts are nearly non existent.
  11. I might just be a part owner of a barrel. I will sell you a Tonyfsu21 branded bottle if you wish once we get them back from the bottler.
  12. No issues at Labadee regarding the rest of the countries unrest. The island (really a walled peninsula) is staffed with RC employees and locals are not permitted entry with the exception being the small numbers of vendors in the market.
  13. Solid review. I was on Odyssey over Thanksgiving with the family and 100% agree with the specialty coffee kiosk at cafe 270 requiring some attention regarding the staffing. The same person was behind the counter every AM and seemed seriously disorganized and there was ALWAYS a line at least 4 people deep. Another thing I noticed that seemed odd (perhaps it’s been like this for a bit and didn’t notice) is the absolute lack of “to go” coffee cups regardless of venue. They used to be located at the promenade cafe, park or cafe 270 & the windjammer and it was really nice and convenient. Can’t they find another way to cut costs? They are still available but you have to request them which at face value seems like an easy task until you take into account that cafe 270 lady is in the weeds making espresso and the windjammer is so packed that they don’t have time to deal with this simple request.
  14. The most amazing secret sandwich is actually not so secret and not a sandwich. The BEST soft shell tacos and taco bar is at Coco Cay! The fresh tortillas and guacamole is simply amazing. I will be back in a couple weeks for another taco or two.
  15. This very accurately sums up Nassau, although we pretty much bypass the whole part involving stepping foot on land and fast forward right to lunch at Chops!
  16. As for discounts on the water taxi, I am unaware of any. I do know that some of them have bar service though!
  17. Take the north route at the Hilton Marina water taxi stop and get off at the Margaritaville stop (it’s 5 o’ clock somewhere bar), have a drink and then walk across the street to the hotel. If you pass through the lobby out the back (to the east) you will end up on the Hollywood beach boardwalk with plenty of small spots to dine by the water. For the most part it’s mid tier pricing and very beach casual.
  18. Sky class seems to be the best value (especially the loft suites on deck 17).
  19. Agree, the actual sail day would be more helpful in this instance to determine holiday vs non holiday sailing. If these are not per person rates then they are great prices and must be related to casino discounts. I have casino status can cannot touch these rates for Star class.
  20. The only issue with that thought is if you axe Nassau then you almost always axe coco cay. IMHO Coco cay is one of the best stops so we continue to rough it through Nassau.
  21. You are missing nothing. My vote would be to stay on the ship and enjoy the pool while everyone is walking around the downtown being harassed by street vendors.
  22. I think this Hilton closed. The Margaritaville hotel day pass is fun (especially with kids as they have a great pool). My only complaint is the staff is slower than slow and getting a cocktail or some food by the pool is a mission. We used to frequent the British Colonial Hilton which had excellent service and the food & drink vouchers were a nice touch.
  23. The pharmacy? Cozumel has some amazing beaches and all inclusive beach clubs. I wouldn’t bother taking a ferry trip to the mainland unless you absolutely have to see the Mayan ruins which IMHO are not all that impressive. I would prefer to drink Tacate beers at the beach club in between swims in the beautiful water to cool off. I’ve been to all the beach clubs but prefer both Paradise beach & Nachi Cocom.
