Help! Non gambler that wants to get to Prime level.
tonyfsu21 replied to ElmoHongZito's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
@CensoredI am on the same page as you, I play all hours of the night (and sometimes days depending on if my wife & kids are not ready to murder me). I am simply conveying the fact that if you are not a serious gambler or at a minimum enjoy gambling then there is no point in achieving prime status for the crappy discounts. I have saved many 10’s of thousands on suites via casino discounts and have also enjoyed the free play so I get it. The point is, the casual player popping .25 into the slots and gambling $10/hr is not going to get you anywhere and if that’s “old school news” then I guess I simply agree to disagree. -
Asking for a friend: Today we are taking a short 3 day on Liberty from PE. I have an 11:00am boarding time which is good. My neighbor (1st time RC cruise) didn’t get the check in memo and ended up with a 2:30pm boarding time. Since they booked a JS, can they disregard the 2:30pm boarding time and join us at 11am? RC has continued to send out the standard “we will turn you away” emails but I normally disregard. Thanks.

Pre-cruise hotel Fort Lauderdale
tonyfsu21 replied to John Graves's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Try looking for a hotel in the Dania beach (Dania point) area. If you are looking for newer and low cost options then this is your best bet. I am a boots on the ground Fort Lauderdale native & local if you have further questions. -
Grand Suites - Allure of the Seas

I prefer the higher decks and would pick deck 12 for that reason. I’ve stayed in many suites on deck 12 and higher and it’s always been a great experience. We like the higher decks for the better views though. There’s quite a bit to unpack here, you should just flip a coin and go with it because any of those three options work well for you. -
Don’t forget about the casino (speaking of reckless abandon). I have donated enough cash to that stupid wheel of fortune machine to pay a weeks wages to the captain.

Mandalay Bay house band “Phoenix” played on Oasis a few nights for a New Years cruise a couple years ago. Great band, we enjoyed them.

Can I park a car at the Cozumel port overnight?
tonyfsu21 replied to Suzanne Elise's topic in Shore Excursions
You should consider just keeping the car for the day and exploring. Cozumel can be seen in a day and you will avoid the hassle and liability of parking a vehicle in Mexico overnight. One full day & you will be ready to return that car (trust me).- 4 replies

Haiti has a “NO travel” advisory
tonyfsu21 replied to Mom of 3's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
It doesn’t exist. I wouldn’t go to Labadee if I were you. Royal Caribbean has a habit of putting their customers directly in the line of fire. -

Area 51? -
My brother & I were drinking beers at 1:30am and the live music set didn’t seems to be near completion. This might have been due to the holiday sailing. I can’t comment on how well they sound proofed the venue but if the engineers did 1/2 as well sound proofing as they did designing that amazing venue then I would say your kids won’t hear a thing.

Haiti has a “NO travel” advisory
tonyfsu21 replied to Mom of 3's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Did you miss the large 20’ walls isolating the Labadee peninsula? Also, there are armed guards stationed at the entry points armed with side arms and assault rifles. I have been recently with absolutely zero issues regarding safety. Labadee is a great & safe destination unlike the remainder of Haiti proper which is a war zone. -
Yep, I agree with this. Slide everything. I do think they need to differentiate the D+ (340 point level) by adding perks that currently don’t exist like maybe a free shore excursion or something along those lines. The Pinnacle level should provide much more than the current bogus offerings. Anyone who reaches this level should be given nothing but the best that RC has to offer and I personally think they fall short on providing the most loyal guests with anything special. I may get flamed for that statement but anyone who has reached this level needs to be well taken care of.

Axe the top tier loyalty event and create something better because RC can do better for the top customers. Instead of listening to the captain tell jokes while drinking cheap & watered down drinks I suggest the following (possibly starting at D or D+): - No organized get together - complimentary drinks for the day (Top Tier Day). - Voucher for speciality dining or on a certain day have a specific menu option (perhaps food and wine pairing) in the MDR only for top tier. - spread the comps across all levels, perhaps 1 complimentary drink per day once you get to emerald. - bring back the sunset sail away party on the bow of the ship because it was a great party (IMHO) better then any top tier event. - phase out the diamond lounge completely and transform into another dining or bar concept.

Diamond Plus > lounge denied > Voucher changes in order.

I agree, toss the entire C&A program in the toilet and flush it. With that being said, I think the Royal Suite program is due for an update… -
Diamond Plus > lounge denied > Voucher changes in order.
tonyfsu21 replied to Censored's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
It’s time for another program refresh. Get rid of the BS across all tiers that the majority of people don’t use and provide more value options that actually get use. At some point they will need to either slide the point scale or create a new level (or 2) anyway. Does anyone give a rats ass about the diamond lounge? Phase it out. Give us more free drinks or a voucher for speciality dining. Once you have reached D, D+ and above I think that loyalty should be recognized a bit more by a company that depends on this customer base for their bottom line. -
Help! Non gambler that wants to get to Prime level.
tonyfsu21 replied to ElmoHongZito's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
It’s not worth it, trust me. There’s nothing “free” in the casino. The amount of money you are going to potentially lose trying to get to prime is silly when you consider the “free” cruises are normally inside cabins on undesirable sailings and the fact that you dont drink alcohol so you can’t take advantage of the free casino drinks. -

tonyfsu21 replied to ElmoHongZito's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
This advice is great if you are a gambler and will be in the casino enjoying everything there is to enjoy in the casino regardless of the points. I wouldn’t advise someone who is not a seasoned casino player to pump money into a machine or a table to try and get to prime for the free drinks and crappy casino certificates. I just doesn’t make good sense. -

This approach is not advised. Based simply on the casino point formula alone @ $5 per point you will spend a significant amount of money unless you are really lucky. Besides everything I mentioned, the casino royale program is no longer what it once was and the heavy discounts are nearly non existent.
