  1. In slow times they do that for all kids to capture the parents. In high demand times they reserve life boat seats for fare paying passengers. Any business can easily allow free access to anyone of any age. Doing so creates an opportunity cost along with a real cost. Their shareholders would feel a thing.
  2. You should re-read his first post @Colombia20102018. He spoke of safety reasons that impact the financial models and ability to add additional adult passengers. In the strictest interpretation, from a safety standpoint alone, it doesn't matter if there are 2000 infants sailing without paying a fare. The problem is that it would impact and spread the cost of sailing the ship across all of the other paying passengers. Current model spreads the cost of an infant preventing another paid fare only on the party responsible for the infant.
  3. Buying skin care products from a stranger in a foreign country on the street. What could go wrong?
  4. Yes, you can fill up your water. Café Promenade has water there. You can also use the water right out to the tap in the cabin as it's gone through some serious filtration. Definitely bring the water bottle.
  5. So they also do KSF promotions. I wonder if their blog has a ubiquitous KSF=Scam post when the cruisers realize that a cabin that can accommodate 3 doesn't cost the same as a cabin that accommodates only 2.
  6. I don't expect the poster to willingly cop to hyperbole without a It's a few hours. They had to cut somewhere so Diamond is the place. It hardly equates to having to work in the engine room. I really doubt they turn diamonds away if you just show up.
  7. I get preferences Mike, but what I wrote was in response to likening the few hour restriction to being a peon. To answer your question, the Windjammer has plenty of food for everyone's taste in those hours. No snacks doesn't equate to peon.
  8. Over a couple hours in a lounge, this is how you feel? They have limited space and capacity issues. That's the reality. You shouldn't feel like a peon, but you should feel entitled to less than those at Diamond Plus and Pinnacle. That's who gets that access in those hours. They earned it. If a day comes when it can only be Pinnacle, so be it. There are so many better places on the ship to spend those hours.
  9. That's mostly how it is Kids Sail Free. During high demand times of the year they don't run KSF because a child occupying a birth for free has an opportunity cost associated to it because it could easily be filled with a full paying adult. Their goal isn't to break even (Kids eat nothing so we charge nothing), it's to generate a profit. In general everyone pays a dollar value in excess of what they consume. That's how the business makes money.
  10. That part I missed even though it was spelled out in your post. I couldn't imagine either being strenuous.
  11. You will get an email about a week before your sailing. You still need to select an arrival time in the app so please do.
  12. From the description, Amiga Island represents itself as being "scenic" which is probably nothing n practice. It also includes a complimentary Amiga Cocktail that the other one does not as you note. I think your decision comes down to if you want the cocktail or not.
  13. That one idiot can and generally does come in all religious variants.
  14. We didn't take any of your money. You need to keep following up with the cruise line. Perhaps dispute the charge on your credit card.
  15. They do @CanHardlyWait. Just got to guest services.
  16. Captain will decide. U was on a cruise for the spring change. Cruise ended on a Sunday. Instead of the Sat night change, Captain changed it Friday night. I assume to avoid disembarkation problems.
  17. Maybe re-think that, and possibly get some savings on group rates and gain some expertise.
  18. It's not cost practical, but chairs with electronics would be nice. Greenlight on if photo sensor is not covered by a towel, if photosensor is covered seapass card needs to be scanned every hour (or longer, or shorter) or light goes green. Greenlight charis can be claimed with staff asked to collect any left behind gear. Each Seapass card can only have 2 chairs scanned at one time so it allows for a bit of saving but not a ton of hogging. Problems of course are cost, PITA scanning card, broken antihog devices and some I'm not thinking of now.
  19. I'll buy a ticket. I think Regina King would make a good @Ampurp85. But maybe that's because I watched Jerry Maguire last weekend and she's on my mind.
  20. Yeah get there as quick as you can. You could probably sneak your arrival time to the port back to 10:45-11:00 and not be denied if you were inclined.
  21. Yeah, whatever charges to the room onboard will deduct from the OBC first.
  22. You might see yourself as fluffy but you might not be so on a cruise ship. They might call you Slim, Stickman or Twigs. It's all relative.
  23. This is my sentiment 100% of the time when I hear about portion sizes being small in the MDR. Just get 2, or 3 even. On the pork chop thing, while I'm not as far down the doom and gloom gang plank as @Al Miller, I do see a thin cut chop and a thick cut pork chop as 2 different dining experiences with dryness being one of the primary differences. If I were after thin cut chops and they were paper thin, I think I would just grab a stack. If I preferred thick and was already down the path of "The race to the bottom...", that would certainly be something I would seize upon. When your customers are jubilated they will make excuses for you if you screw up, when they are satisfied, they will remain with you even through some hiccups, when they are no longer satisfied and on their way to dissatisfied they explore other options and issue complaints, when they are closer to dissatisfied than satisfied they begin to see and create complaints in the places they otherwise wouldn't, when they are fully dissatisfied, they cease complaining and spend their dollars another way. I think @Al Miller is closer to dissatisfied than satisfied recently for reasons we talk about here everyday.
