Sailed her back in '06 for 4 nights out of Galveston. Coz and 2 sea days. Had a great time!
Coz was still recovering from hurricane Wilma in '05, so we had to tender due to all the dammage to the piers. While we were ashore, Enchantment came in and anchored near us. When it was time to leave we got in the "Splendour" line and boarded a tender. The pilot started heading for Enchantment. We were all telling him he was headed to the wrong ship, but he insisted "oh no, this your ship, all look alike". We got there, showed our cards to the deck hands saying "this is not our ship". The deckhands looked at the pilot and said "this is not their ship". THEN the pilot turned to us and said "this not your ship". We were all calling it the "San Miguel Harbor Tour" shore excursion!

Why do they call it the port side then?! Our travel agent booked us a port side cabin for this very reason
They can and will dock on either side for all the reasons listed above.
As for the name "port side" (and "starboard side"): Many answers, but the one I've always accepted is that in the earliest days of sailing ships, there was no rudder, but there was a "steering board". This was hung out near the back. It was not directly in the center but off to the right side. Why the right side? Because most people are right-handed and that is their strong side with which to operate the steering board. The"steering board side" became abbreviated over the years to become "starboard". The left side was called "port side" bacause you always put that side towards the dock so as not to damage the steering board.

If you have some time, can you share some recent photos? I haven't been back in a few years and would like to see what is available there these days.
Be glad to. I'll get some up later today.
I'll be back there again the end of May, I can do any followups or specifics as needed ;)

The "Tourism Village" as it is called, contains all the standard offerings, jewelry, shirts, etc. You can do it all in about an hour if you stop in every shop.
The Wet Lizard serves up a good lunch, it is a little touristy as it is inside the walls, but its also got a little of the "local dive" feel. It also provides "husband day care" (waterfront bar) so the ladies can shop un-bothered ;)
For a flea market experience, you will need to go "outside the wall". Be warned: it is quite daunting! Very agressive, you will be offered "agricultural products" (and more!).

Are you referring to "balcony" when you say "deck"?
If so, Royal lists the square footage of the room, and the square footage of the balcony (if the room has one).
The square footage of the room does NOT include the balcony.

The points for the cruise are not submitted to the main office until after the sailing is complete and the ship submits all the data for the completed cruise. This usually takes about 2 weeks for the points to show up online.
That said, there have been cases (but no guarantee) where the loyalty ambassador "pulled some strings" mid-sailing, usually if you are reaching Diamond or Diamond Plus. New Pinnacle members are always updated mid cruise, as they make it part of the presentation at the Top-Tier event onboard.

She made it to Freeport. 😀

I have read of that happening as well. Like I said I've never needed to do it, but I've read of it.
-
No personal experience, but I've read many many times over the years that guest services will do this once onboard. Families with more than one room get their cards programmed for all their rooms.

I recall Sheraton OSJ to the pan American Pier to be about 10 minutes. I don't recall the price.
