  1. Could you do 1 deluxe beverage package + voom for 1 person and just a deluxe beverage package for the 2nd person?
  2. I like to be prepared and plan for the worst. Go ahead and request an extension cord. If you don't need it, you can always hand it back to your attendant.
  3. I am going to answer the question on whether or not you should continue to pay the balance: Yes. When you booked the cruise with the travel agent, you had agreed upon a price. As long as the travel agency is not trying to charge you more than the agreed price, you should not have a gripe. I believe you are getting the cruise at a lower rate than what RCL would have charged you. I don't see that as shady. The only shady thing that would happen is if the cruise gets canceled and the travel agency does not give you back their extra portion. Not all of us are as good as @twangsterin getting the company to pay up. (Good for you, @twangster!) I know how difficult is can be to stand up for your rights and demand your money back. The good news, RCL considers the cruise paid in full.
  4. Thank you, @WAAAYTOOO. I was surprise to find your blog here. Silly me was looking for a live blog in the live blog section. LOL! One question: Did you ever smelled the sewage? I am thinking of taking the Grandeur of the Seas next year when it leaves out of Boston.
  5. Thanks @asquared17 for this blog. I enjoy reading your story and getting my morning fix (living the cruise live thru others). I wished you had a better time but it gave me hopes that if I am ever in the same situation, there can be a solution.
  6. I could be wrong but it looks like Calafia Valley Wine Country also includes a wine tasting. So is the lunch worth $80? I don't have any experience with these tours but I usually pick the one with the meal because that means I will have more time at one of the wineries.
  7. I was on the CoCo Cay Wave Jet excursion. I was going to book a driver/passenger for myself and my husband. But my brother talked me out of it. He told me that the jet skis are not very powerful. They can handle an adult driver and a child but does not do well with 2 adults. The other thing I would like to say about the excursion is that they give you a hard time if you go too slow. It was the first time my husband and I were on Jet Skis. I get it that they want to keep everyone together but waiting an extra minute for the slow drivers to catch up should not be that much of an issue. This was sad but I don't think I will book that excursion again.
  8. One more thing I would like to mention. If you are going to a country where otc meds are considered a controlled substance in their country, only take what you need plus an extra day or two. If you take a month worth of drugs for a 7 night cruise, the authorities could consider you a dealer with that much extra medication. To my mind, I would consider it a stretch but it has happend.
  9. I have no problem with once a day service. I agree with clean, dry towels and empty the trash cans. It will still be more than what you get with some hotels.
  10. I put all my pills in an old prescription pill bottle (after I take off its label). I tried those dispensers but I could not find one large enough to hold my BIG pills. I usually only carry 1 or 2 extra days of medication. I also take a picture of any prescription drugs - just in case I do get stranded or something has happened to my pills. WARNING: Some over the counter medication (like Sudafed) is considered a controlled substance. I found the following information from https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/international-travel/before-you-go/your-health-abroad.html: Bring an ample supply of medication to cover you for your trip, and if possible, a few extra days in case there are delays. Carry a letter from the attending physician that describes your medical condition and any prescription medications, including the generic name of prescribed drugs. Keep medications in their original, labeled containers. Check with the foreign embassy of the country you are visiting or transiting to make sure your medications are permitted in that country. Some countries require an import license or permit to travel with certain medications.
  11. I have never seen that combo. On my last cruise, I got the refreshment package while my husband got the soda + internet package. We then shared the internet package (1 device) between our devices. The only limit is only 1 device can be connected at a time.
  12. I can concur about checking in as a group. My sister had a later check in time (like around an hour) but she was able to check in with the rest of the family.
  13. Thank you @helloxdestiny for sharing your video. It was so beautiful. It brought tears to my eyes.
  14. I totally agree that they need to be strict for liability reasons. However, I do have a problem when they use age as a requirement instead of using weight and height. That is the way any amusement park handles their rides. I have even seen them use both minimum and maximum on a person's height. Back when my son was young, car seats only had an age restriction. My son outgrew his car seat over a year before. I had to move him into a booster seat early because the car seat would not have protected him. Today's car seats come with a height and weight restrictions. My grandson still had issues because while he met the height restrictions to flip the car seat to forward facing, he was still under weight. The problem was his knees were almost to his chest because of how tall he was. So even height and weight restrictions can be wrong.
  15. I had that happen with the United app. After waiting several weeks getting the same error (Internal error), I had to call. You can blame the SW programmer or their QC department. I can say this since I am a SW engineer and I know how bugs can slip thru.
  16. I too had boys that were extremely tall (one son is now 6'4"). I had the opposite problem where people would expect more from the boys because they thought they were older. I even had 1 parent come up to me to ask if my son had a disability because he was having trouble keeping up with her sons, who were 3 years older. GEE! I rather a child is measured by their height and weight instead of their age.
  17. I believe you can do your on-line check in via your phone app (Someone correct me if I am wrong). I would do it before you arrive at the terminal. Your boarding will go quicker.
  18. @TeRriii - I agree it is written that way but when I have to pay for an upcharge, I don't consider it included.
  19. When I went on my first RCL cruise with my family, we purchased the 3 dinner package (used for 150 Central Park, Giovanni, and Samba). Then we added Chef's table, Izumi Sushi, and Chop's lunch). It was still cheaper than the UDP. I should note that Chef's table is not part of UDP.
  20. Another thread on this site (Allure of the seas - Central Park Restoration) was also mentioning the condition of Central Park. There they mentioned that crew members have been already pruning the dead material back. They also mentioned waiting until Spring to replace the trees.
  21. Here is an off the wall idea (feel free to shoot it down). What about coming up with a series of flash cards with phrases that she may need - in both Korean and English. You can also print out some menus that have been posted at this blog site and have someone translate the menu into Korean with the English right next to the Korean words. This way she may be able to navigate the menu herself. Good luck!
  22. I took the ViaRail train from Toronto to Vancouver. I LOVED IT! I think you will enjoy taking the ViaRail. They run 4 trains a day. The cost will run about $84 to $300 per person (interesting fact that right now Business is cheaper than Economy Plus). Warning - all fares has a limit on the amount of luggage. I would recommend that you give ViaRail a try. Good luck!
