Marc got a reaction from AGSLC5 in What "Cruise Nerd" Thing Have You Done on a Cruise?
Of the nine cruises that my husband has been on, he could only remember three of the ships' names. Of course, the last one caught on fire, so that's ingrained into his memory.

Meanwhile, I remember the name of every ship I've been on, and can remember much of the Royal Caribbean ships' features.

Now, the islands we've visited? Much of that has blurred together over time. That's not a surprise as I do cruise for the ship.

In my Family and social circle I am known as the person to go to if wanting to go on a cruise. I love to help book cruises for people even if I am not going. Like Marc and Matt if anyone even mentions the word cruise I start asking where you going what ship etc... I hate when they say oh I don't know i'm like how can you NOT KNOW... To me that's crazy... I study deck plans, menus, excursions, restaurants and entertainment possibilities... So yea basically I am a HUGE cruise Nerd and Proud of it!

My first was also Viking Serenade. Of all the cruises I've been on, it was my least favorite.

I didn't give Royal Caribbean much of a second thought until years later when I saw a TV program that showed the Royal Promenade and the neat cabins overlooking it.

The price guarantee works for those who book after final payment is already due.

I've got six days until my next cruise, and my mind is almost completely focused on the trip ahead.

I was just realizing that I've got so many firsts, and one last, for this cruise.

This vacation is the first time that I will:
depart from Cape Liberty depart from a chillier port (compared to Florida and southern California) enjoy a 5-night cruise stay in a full suite get an alcoholic drink package go to Bermuda be docked in port overnight participate in a $10K slot tournament Sadly, this cruise is probably the last time that I will:
enjoy dining at Portofino Anyway, these were all thoughts I've had today while pondering my upcoming cruise. Now I just need to find a way to pass the time between now and the end of the week when everything begins in earnest.

    Marc,

I hadn't even noticed that you started it in the wrong subforum. :)

I moved it to the discussion forum, which was a first for me to do.

One reason we wanted to try the Liberty was to experience a new port (Galveston for us) and to experience one of the last Portofinos aboard an RCI ship since we missed doing so on the Jewel when we had the chance.

    Hope the trip goes well!

I'm with you, Marc. Hard to concentrate on anything else.

I've never had a drink package and I've never played in a big slots tourney. Have experienced the rest b4.

Be sure and give the union guys a good tip at the pier. The one and only time I left out of Bayonne someone cut the metal luggage tags off of my luggage. I assume they didn't think I tipped enough.

Also, on that same trip, leaving Bayonne we ran smack dab into a nor'easter and had the roughest 2 days at sea I have ever experienced. I certainly hope our trip to Bermuda is smoother than my last trip was !

When I first started cruising I left out of Tampa a lot so I have taken many 5 nighters. Waaaytoo short for me now. This one is an exception these days.

A couple comments on our experience on Brilliance last week.  This was our first cruise as Platinum Crown & Anchor members so I was interested to see what happened.  I am glad to report that at least at the Platinum level we were certainly recognized.  At Boston, they immediately flagged us to the shorter Platinum & Up check-in line, and made sure we were seated in the proper waiting area.  Once onboard, we had a sheet with the Platinum Seapass offers shown as soon as we got to our stateroom, along with the CAS robes.  On Day 3, our Platinum pins were presented by placing them nicely on our bed.  We were invited to both the Welcome Back event and the Top Tier event, both of which were well done on Brilliance.  The Top Tier event had plenty of great appetizers, free drinks for 90 minutes, a band, and the welcome speeches.  Overall I felt very appreciated by Royal Caribbean, even as a lowly Platinum member.

One other story to relate: After the Welcome Back event, we were with our friends who were in a Grand Suite (we were in a Jr. Suite).  Our friends invited us to the Concierge Club.  We were hesitant but they insisted that based on their experience there would be no questions, so we entered with them just to see what it is like.  After a few minutes, the Suite Concierge came over and checked first with our friends to see if everything was alright with their stateroom and made sure everything was going well.  She checked her list and noted that they had an issue with their bed which she immediately followed up on.  Then she turned to my wife and I and asked if everything was ok and if we wanted a refill on our wine.  We explained that we were in a Jr. Suite and had brought our wine up from the Welcome Back event, and were just there to socialize with our Suite friends.  The Concierge immediately welcomed us and said she was glad we were there.  She offered to refill our wine again and again I declined, noting that we were not in a real suite.  She was very gracious and would not take no for an answer, motioned to one of the waiters and had him bring two complimentary glasses of wine for us.  Again, I felt very appreciated by Royal Caribbean and pleased that she was so welcoming in a situation that could have been uncomfortable for us.

Well done, Brilliance of the Seas, for making us feel special!

    Yep...Oct. 17 5 days to Bermuda.

We just booked this cruise 2 days ago. Hadn't planned it at all...just an impulsive decision when I saw that there was an aft Jr. Suite available. Couldn't pass it up with the Club Royale discount.

I'm sure we'll see each other in the casino. That's where I'll be most of the time.

If my math is right, that means you're going to be on the same sailing that I am (October 17).

I'm really looking forward to this cruise.

Matt is right that the credit card will be charged for the full amount on the last day (unless you request otherwise and pay some or all of your account balance with cash or a different card during the cruise), however they will do periodic (daily?) authorizations for the amounts charged during the cruise. They are authorizations only and will generally fall off automatically after the final charge is done.

They arrived today with five weeks to go until sailing.

I'm a bit giddy about the luggage tags because I've not ordered them since they switched to suites-only (unless you pay $35 for hardcopy cruise documentation) back in 2011, I think it was.
