I did a cruise out of Galveston 2012 on the Mariner it was hard for us west coasties to see her go. From Houston Hobby its about a 30 - 40 minute drive not that bad, The port itself well let just say its the worse one I have cruised from, but if they are making major improvments i will give a second chance to step onboard RCI ship. Florida ports are the best my favorite would be Port Canaveral.

I'm Joyce from Illinois but presently living in San Antonio.  My first Royal Caribbean cruise was in 1984 on Song of America!!  I have been cruising ever since, and my next RCI cruise will be on Navigator in November.  I am looking forward to Matt's live blog next month and hoping for some info about the renovated NOTS.

I will be on my first Royal Caribbean cruise along with my husband and 3 boys (ages 14, 13 and 5).  We are sailing on August 2nd on the Oasis of the Seas.  We are very excited and flying from the UK to enjoy a couple of days in the Fort Lauderdale area before our Western Caribbean voyage.

I really, really like NCCs.  They are something I tell everyone to get because it's such a small investment for a good reward.  That and it encourages more Royal Caribbean cruises! :D

I posted a quick message on Facebook & Twitter, but I really wanted to thank everyone who posts here, reads the site and listens to the podcast for being such good friends.

I use the word "friends" because I really do consider you all my friends.  This site started as an outlet for me to share my Royal Caribbean passion and I've come to (virtually) meet so many new people and I love reading different opinions, viewpoints and concerns that pop up.

So I wanted to take a minute to make sure I express to all of you how glad I am that you spend a little bit of your day on this site.  I hope we all get a chance to cruise together some day but if not, we can always dream of embarkation day here.

    THANK YOU!

I would think a Quantum class ship would sail in Alaska, i would say no to a Voyager class ship after all Quantum class ships are built for cold weather ports or ports of call. Vancouver has ship restrictions do to the Lion"s gate bridge which a Voyager class ship cannot fit under, Keep an eye on the Quantum class ship building and see if they are putting in telescoping funnels on the smoke stack or they can sail from Seattle also.

    Hi Pete,

I've read the reports of Allure's propulsion issues but as you can see, Royal Caribbean isn't say much about it.  As long as they can still dock, they don't feel compelled to make an issue of it.  Of course we always want as much time in port as possible, but you're still stopping where you hoped and Allure is a beautiful ship so if this all means more time onboard, I can think of worse places to be "stuck" on. ;)

For St Thomas, a day at Magens Bay is hard to go wrong with: http://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2013/06/25/excursion-focus-magens-bay

Nassau, I'd probably just stay onboard especially if you've ever been to Nassau before.  Hate to sound jaded but just being honest.

I love St Maarten, especially the French side.  Orient Beach was the most beautiful beach I've ever been to, so might be worth checking out.  We went to Bikini Beach and had great service: http://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2013/10/08/excursion-focus-bikini-beach-st-martin

Post if you have more questions (and thanks for checking this site out too!)
