I’m in a similar position - we have paid our deposit to sale from Barcelona on Allure of the Seas in August. Final payment was due today so I called and they offered me lift and shift to same itinerary on Harmony next year from Barcelona - saying I would only have to pay difference in taxes and gratuities which seemed reasonable.

I had a guaranteed balcony room on Allure (where RC pick the room instead of me). They checked all dates 4 weeks either side of my cruise in 12 months time and said they cannot match a “guaranteed balcony” despite the fact there are million of balcony rooms available and said as it’s not like for like - I’d have to upgrade to a specific room category which would cost me over another £1300.

The operator spoke to her team leader but that’s the best offer they would make.

Can’t say I’m overly impressed with Royal’s service to be honest.

I didnt know Allure was sailing from Barcelona in August, im due to sail on her in August from Port Canaveral (Although not now due to the vaccination policy).

I think if you don't mind vaccinating your 12 y/o or older, it won't affect you!  In our case, we couldn't get the vaccine and have enough time to follow the protocol Royal mandated for the June 19th cruise so they are refunding all monies or FCC.

Small chance of that in the UK by July, and I wont be vaccinating them even if offered.

Under the CRUISE WITH CONFIDENCE you can Cancel up to 48 hours before you sail and get a future cruise credit valid to book by April 30, 2022 and sail by September 30, 2022. This is for cruises booked on or before May 31st, 2021. Here is the link that explains everything: https://www.royalcaribbean.com/cruise-with-confidence

You can do this also online as well as calling them BUT if you used a TA, let them do it. Hope it helps.

Actually, this sounds like what ive been offered.  Apart from the fact the are saying this must be done BEFORE my final payment.  Or are they not explaining properly by saying 'make final payment and you can do this upto 48hrs before sail date'

Perhaps you could book something now as a back up. In the current climate of uncertainty, many places let you book with no upfront payments and free cancellation up to a day or two before arrival. If you can find one that's suitable for your needs, you're all set if your cruise doesn't go ahead or you can cancel if it does.

Thats the route im going down, just trying to find somewhere that gives me a late enough free cancellation.

30 days out is when RCG notifies you as to protocols. I'm 45 days out and still can't check-in or have not received protocols. I was told by RCG everything at this point is done 30 days out. I also have the option to cancel and receive FCC BUT I'll wait as I know it's going to be canceled. Then, "BADA-BING!!" the ball is in my court, so-to-speak, as to full refund (serves RCG right if I do cancel since they are waiting till the last possible moment) or take a FCC. RCG might even do L&S. Always have a backup plan just in case your cruise gets canceled.

Ive not been told I cant cancel and receive FCC.

Best answer is sit and wait till RCG irons out the ever changing protocols as nothing is happening yet and things are changing every day. Thirty days out from your sail date, RCG will let you know what protocols are in place along with your options should you decide to move and/or cancel your cruise.

Sadly 30 days out might be too late to sort alternative accommodation, that would only give me just over 2 weeks.

  7. I am due to cruise at the end of August for the third week of our three week trip in August. I'm travelling from the UK so assuming Biden /Boris lets us go I'm all set apart from the cruise week, and if I'm not cruising I need to find alternative accommodation for a week. I have the following issues:

    1. My children wont be vaccinated, what will RC do about children that are unable to get the vaccine (not that I want them to have it anyway) Who pays for the all the tests required?

    2. I don't wish to cruise, where masks are required during eating! Will RC not compensate for an inferior experience (I'm aware its not there fault)

Apparently, according to RC my only option is to move my booking to 2022, losing my promotion and at prevailing rates, as long as I've paid my balance by 26th June. Currently it looks like I either wait and hope sailing conditions change, or cancel and end up paying more for next year and losing my promotions.  If I wasn't in the UK this would not be a problem but time is not on my side!

I feel that my options are very limited and I am running out of time to decide! And I need a lot more info from RC by the 26th June.

  8. Odd that RC havent released any response to the latest CDC guidance?

Frustrating for me as I need to know asap whether my cruise from Port Canaveral will happen at end of August, as I'm travelling from the UK I would need to find alternative accommodation for the week assuming Biden lets me in!

Likely that is also the reason that any news about specific ships and ports that will sail under the 98/95/5 protocol will not be forthcoming until the last possible moment to forestall the avalanche of phone calls requesting FCCs, refunds, or L&S.

Will requesting a l&s be possible? is it only if rc cancel? And what happens if you have already done a l&s?

I want everywhere possible to require a vaccine passport for entry when they are available. Flights, restaurants, theme parks, international travel.

It's safer for everyone, and would give an incentive for antivaxxers to change.

Wow vaccine apartheid! Incentives and coercion should not be pushed! In fact once the 'at risk' groups are fully vaccinated there should be no need to vaccinate everyone.  Have you researched the actual risks?

This is what Ron DeSantis is talking about the CDC knows transmission is low out door but yet they put out these outdated policies that are completely contradictory to the science and data the CDC has sworn they are following.

Back to cruising the CSO is completely unworkable by most cruise lines and even though I'm fully vaccinated I think it is shameful for the CDC to try and use the cruise industry as a vehicle to force people to get vaccinated which is what it appears as though they are attempting to do.

I wan't cruising to resume but if the CDC stands firm on 95% vaccination rate for passengers then the expectation that I have is there should be NO masks, NO capacity limits, NO social distancing requirements.  I should be able to eat and drink while walking around the ship and not have to deal with the restrictions we see in place on ship sailing out of Singapore. If the CDC is driven by the science and data, the science and data shows vaccinated individuals can not transmit the virus.  Therefore if 98% or crew and 95% of passengers are vaccinated there is no need for ANY restrictions onboard a cruise ship.  But of course we all know this isn't what the CDC is recommending they want people to get vaccinated but still put up with restrictions.

This is what I don’t understand, what is the difference between a ship sailing with vaccinated guests now and in the future? The risk is exactly the same. Following that logic, they are saying these restrictions will be in place forever. I never thought anyone would out do our uk government scientists in stupidity!

Here's the CDC data on breakthrough cases.

    https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/covid-19/health-departments/breakthrough-cases.html

Based on that, if you had 2 cruises ships with 5000 people on them, 1 person across both cruises would be infected.

They need to treat this like flu, highly likely no serious illness and reduced transmission with vaccines.
