We are looking at this exact excursion for our upcoming Wonder sailing. I'll take it as a sign to book it.

We loved it.  The Catamaran crew was absolutely fabulous.  They told us that they usually take 40-50 people.  Our boat only had 25, which made it a lot less crowded.  Plenty of snacks and drinks on board.  I was kinda disappointed that you only got to snorkel 1:00-1:20 minutes, but to be honest, that was plenty long enough.  Be sure to swim up to the beach and enjoy soft sand.

Same here.  We got in line and were told that the free day is ONLY for on-board internet purchases.  He showed us the benefit fine print from the C&A benefits chart: 11_Diamond members will receive one (1) free day and Diamond Plus members will receive two (2) free days of VOOM Surf+Stream internet or the price equivalent off any onboard Internet purchase. Valid for one or two consecutive 24-hour periods of Surf + Stream internet usage for one device only. This offer is not combinable with other coupons or offers. Purchases of other packages are at your discretion and will not be refunded.

We never bothered to get in line and ask on any other cruises.    ???

I would try again the next time your on board, because this statement "free day is ONLY for on-board internet purchases", is wrong.  As a Diamond or Diamond+ member you get the free day(s) whether or not you purchase internet, just like Pinnacle gets a free week.  OR you get the Price Equivalent OFF any onboard internet purchase.  Which means, if you purchase internet pre-cruise at a lower rate, they are not going to give you free days because you would owe them money.

    Lets say internet pre-cruise is $16.99/day (that's the lowest I've ever seen) for a 7 day cruise.  7 x $16.99 = $119

    Lets say internet onboard is $25.99/day for a 7 day cruise.  7 x $25.99 = $182 (minus $25.99 for 2 free days = $130).   If you bought pre-cruise, you paid a lower rate.

I could be wrong here, but this is my understanding.  Like most C&A benefits, pre-cruise discounts are usually better than the onboard discount minus the C&A benefit.

We are 2 weeks out from a 7 night cruise on ICON and the calendar on the app is filled out -

    Shows these events:

    Day 1: Casual

    Day 2: Wear your best

    Day 3: Casual

Day 4: casual with Caribbean twist

    Day 5:Casual

Day 6: Wear your white (Says Break out your crisp elegant attire) <--in this the second formal night?)

    Day 7: Casual

    Thanks for your help!

We've always had 2 formal nights - and a white night too. Is this the norm now?

Our January 7-day cruise had the same as yours on Day 2 and Day 6.  We did not do the White, because we didnt see it pre-cruise, but I really liked the change.  Everyone was dressed nice.

I completely understand why @SpicyCherry wants a second device of her “own” rather than using someone else’s access.  Switching back and forth - logging on and off is a complete PITA and almost always leads to someone getting kicked off.  No bueno.

I get it as well, but I wasn't talking about them using someone else's access, it would be her access.  If she is using her phone and wants to use her computer, she can log out of her phone and log on with her computer.  I rarely get internet when I'm at sea, because, part of a cruise for me is a total disconnect.  However, if I do get it, I buy one device and switch between phone and PC when needed.  It seems like a hassle, but takes 30 seconds to switch.

I've booked a excursion for St Marteen, and have that all settled. I have no idea what to do in Charlotte Amalie? There are 4 of us in my family, all adults (our boys are 30/26) ....What do you recommend for this Port of call? I was hoping for maybe a ATV tour or something where we could drive our own jeeps/etc.... but looks like that is all in St. Marten.

Charlotte Amalie is looking to be a boring port, and all the Trunk Bay excursions on the ship are sold out so we are out of luck on that one. I've heard Megans Bay is over crowded, but I've never been so if you have and enjoyed it please chime in 🙂

    Thanks for any input!

St. Thomas is nice, but I would recommend doing an excursion that takes you over to St. Johns.  You will not be disappointed.  We did the Champagne Catamaran and Snorkel to Honeymoon Beach, and it was awesome.

Looking at these two ports & absolutely nothing interests me.  I am not an “outdoors” type so hiking lush tropical areas isn’t for me (and I am DEATHLY AFRAID of snakes).  Hubby might like a catamaran sailing & I might be willing to do that.  Is the a town either local shops & restaurants we could stroll around?

I think others may have mentioned it, but neither island (and most caribbean islands) do not have snakes.  When these islands were settle by the English, Dutch, etc. they brought along the Mongoose, thus, no snakes.  St. Kitts we did the volcano hike and I will tell you, if you are not in GREAT shape, do not do it.  70% of those doing the excursion never make it past the base of the mountain.  I didn't care too much for the St. Kitts port area.  As for St. Lucia, we didn't get off the boat this time, but heard the snorkeling excursions and history tours are great.

Hey, curious to see if anyone has done this excursion before. We're doing the 2/16 sailing on Wonder and we'll be at St Thomas from 7:30-2:30 on day 5.

My question just has to do with getting a taxi on St John. Is that easy to do at the dock? Since this is a short excursion, can I coordinate with the driver to pick us up to get us back to the dock for the return ferry?

I'm thinking we ask to go to Trunk bay, which might be crowded, so Cinnamon could be a back up. We mainly want to be able to snorkel and grab some food.

    Thanks

We just did St. Thomas in January and had this excursion booked.  After hearing about "possible" traffic delays, we decided that we didn't want to have a short day in St. Johns, so, we did the Catamaran Snorkel over to Honeymoon beach.  It ended up being the best excursion of the cruise.

So we just got back from the excursion. I was able to participate in about half of it. The stingray portion is in chest deep water so my wife and daughter got to do it but I stayed dry on the boat. I expected this and was fine with it as this trip was more for them. The turtle conservation center was perfect even though we missed hatchling season and it has been the highlight of the cruise.

I meant to comment on this and forgot, but it sounds like you found out.  We did this excursion a few years back and really liked the encounter with the turtles and stingrays.  I would recommend this to people of all ages.  I was worried about my 6 year old, specially when we got in the water and realized it was over his head.  He got in and swam underwater to touch the stingrays!

Yes…I mean that we usually like access for 2 devices per person so that’s what I’m referring to as the “2nd device”.

If everyone in the cabin has internet, why worry about the 2nd device?  What I mean is, lets say you want to use your phone and computer.  You can switch between those devices by logging out on one and log in on the other, no need to get internet for both.

Lately I have noticed the cruise planner will tell me the discount is because I am Diamond Plus.  I have also notice many of the items are at a 30% discount and when I post others do not see the same discount.  I am starting to think the website knows and adjusts.

Thanks Mike.  That's kind of what I thought happens (or should happen).

Yes you are completely overreacting. Maya Chan is 100 times more safe than the US Port you left from. Did crime deter you from sailing out of your port???

@OCSC Mike last time I was there, MC paid for and arranged the taxis/shuttle. Has that changed in the past year? I just booked another outing there for next year and don’t want that surprise! LOL thanks!

No, this has not changed.  They still provide the taxi to and from MC.

I am walking off Rhapsody right now. We had a noon boarding time, but were on the ship with drink in hand by 10:45. They might get more strict as the port gets busier in the afternoon

Thanks, I was trying to see if rooms were ready "later than normal" with the later departure, but, it doesn't sound like it.

I'll be on the Icon of the Seas in November and we're debating between 2 shore excursions at Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas. Our goal is to see as much ocean life as possible! I've done a ton of research and it looked like the St. John Half Day Champagne Cat Sail Beach & Snorkel was probably our best option. Then 2 spots opened up on the Discover Scuba Diving excursion! I've reserved both so we can choose. After checking on YouTube, it looked like there was maybe one kind of fish seen on the Discover Scuba Diving tour and nothing else. Anyone who has done both excursions - or at least the Discover Scuba one - which is better for seeing wildlife? Was the video we saw fairly typical for the Scuba excursion? If you've done the St. John Cat Sail excursion, did you see lots of fish/other sea life?
    Thanks so much!!

Hi, I am looking at doing the St. John Champagne Cat Sail Beach & Snorkel and was curious which excursion you ended up choosing.  If you did the St. John Champagne Cat Sail Beach & Snorkel I would love to hear your thoughts on it.

Fun fact: Puerto Rico does NOT do the Fall Back/Spring Forward, so make sure your devices update correctly once you arrive on the island!

    https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/puerto-rico/san-juan

For example, it is now 1:07 PM "EST - eastern time", but 2:07 PM "AST - Atlantic Standard Time"

The last time we went to Puerto Rico, we fly in on the weekend of "fall back" on the Saturday and I was so paranoid that my phone would mess it up and we'd miss our scheduled Lyft for Sunday 🙂

It's all good, I use the RC app and will be set to "ships time"!!!  And of course, the IPhone will update as well when we land.

  15. The wife and I cruise on Rhapsody in 32 days out of San Juan.  I'm used to boarding beginning around 10am-ish and rooms being ready around 1:00.  During check-in today I noticed the time slots ran from 1:30-2:00, 2:00-2:30,.........6:00-6:30.  I guess my question is, with the later boarding times, has anyone experienced this and what times are rooms usually ready?  We were planning to board around times when rooms are ready, but also don't want to spend the day with our luggage after checking out of the hotel.  Appreciate anyone's thoughts, suggestions.

We are cruising out of San Juan April 13, 2025, on the Rhapsody of the seas and will be arriving early for a few days to experience San Juan and the surrounding area. Has anyone ever rented scooters to travel old San Juan, San Juan and the surrounding areas? If so, would you recommend it? Who did you use? any recommendations are greatly appreciated. Thank you

We've stopped in Old San Juan a few years ago as a Port Stop.  Old San Juan is beautiful.  We did not rent scooters, and I don't remember there being any around either, but its been a while.  It's a great town to walk, and possibly bike.  Everything you want to see is within close proximity, so I personally would suggest walking.  We are flying in to San Juan January 10th for a cruise on Rhapsody as well and are staying in Old San Juan.  As others have said, the terminal is closer to the airport, so an Uber/Taxi will be needed.

Does anyone know if you book Delta via Air 2 sea can you select seats and upgrade them before you’ve fully paid for your ticket?

air2 sea is only offering main cabin or premium economy but id like comfort+, I’d prefer to not wait till final payment to book this. Btw main cabin price at air 2 sea  is extremely close in price to comfort plus price!

I used A2Sea earlier this year for my Alaskan Cruise.  We booked regular cabin flights (refundable, as I think they all are via A2S).  One leg was United, operated by Air Canada, and one was United.  I am a United member and was able to upgrade the tickets prior to final payment.  With the Air Canada segment I was not able to.  Not sure if this helps, but it is probably up to Delta in your case.
