  1. No a golden birthday is the date of your birthday being the same as your age. So, a person who was born on the 10th, turning ten. In my case I was born on the 21st, so my 21st birthday was my golden birthday. My brother's golden birthday was when he turned 27.
  2. I personally think both are great choices. But for a 4N I would save my money and do Freedom. I personally feel like I need the 7n on a larger ship because they is so much to see and do. Freedom would be great for a 4N because there is a lot to do but not so much that you will feel like missed out.
  3. That's why I said I can't. OP supposedly has been on enough cruises to know they should get and check their folio but complains they had to dispute the charges shoreside. Like......I don't get it.
  4. I was definitely one of the people who thought it was just data mining. I posted that people shouldn’t increase their stress levels. I figured it was just a litmus test. I think that at some point a lot of the higher tier return cruisers will jump ship. I understand business and I don't fault Royal for any charges good or bad, just like they can’t fault me or others who chose to spend our dollars elsewhere. I was pretty upset that as a person who consistently makes prime and spends money in their casino, I receive no comp offers. While my friend who sails once a year with me and barely make 600pts, gets two-three offers a month. I was so upset, I booked less cruises. Do they care, no. Because the new cruisers is worth more money to them. Their approach to cruising is working, most people would rather buy what they want and not bundle anything or subsidized someone else vacation. There is always someone will to pay for convenience, that's the basis of the suite life.
  5. The beer, wine, etc is 11-11, the lounge should be open 24hrs. Happy hour is 5/5:30-8ish and then you can get cocktails. You will be able to get bottle water and coke in the SL without issue.
  6. Not Matt but in regards to Royal, USD is preferred regardless of where the ship is sailing out of.
  7. I love me an aft cabin. I also think anytime there is more than 3 people a second bathroom is needed.......especially if the 3rd or 4th person is a woman/teenager. I didn't think it was strange as the 1br AS is sky class too, but meh. I wasn't going to bid on that one, because I worried about the noise.
  8. I think the issue was that a lot of the people who was the primary cruisers on Royal, weren't interested in eating late. So having midnight buffets and other options weren't anything but wasted food. That was what room service was for and those who really wanted it, have to pay. Now there is a more diverse subset of cruisers who eat at all times and the current way no longer works. Carnival has always attracted more partiers and families on budgets, so their dining options have continued to reflect that. Now everyone is cruising and thus the new ships will probably have more late-night offerings.
  9. I can't ...... They do tell you the popcorn is a charge. Also, it is YOUR job to check your invoice before you leave. Had you done so you could have avoided the towel charges and any subsequent headaches in regards to that.
  10. You should be fine. I only started having issues when I went to USB because of the battery inside the device. I used to carry one that plugged in and never had to remove it. I also have a charging cord in my carry-on that can hold a battery pack, so it gets flagged when that happens as well.
  11. We lost a port last year when I sailed Nav out of LA because of a hurricane. The ship will likely just try to outrun the storm if it becomes one.
  12. I always lock anything that won't be on my person the entire way and even my carry-on has a lock. Like others have said it's not always about theft.
  13. RyanAir is the Spirit of Europe. They charged for basic boarding documents. However, I once flew with them round-trip with bags and all that priority jazz for like $71.
  14. Turn them on something else asked in the survey. Or PDCC in any aspect.
  15. Yes, that is why I asked. Normally Jamie's is available and even though they changed the menu, I was going to book that. But it shows day 2 and 4 only on all of them, well the three specialty restaurants. I love a good lunch. I mostly get the UDP on longer sailings but on shorter one's I do the lunch. It's great to enjoy the meal and then the rooms are ready.
  16. Wait what type of room are you staying in? The 2BR GS? I love the freedom class ships and Liberty is the only one I need to get on. I keep looking at that itinerary, I am so excited to follow along. On another note, I just got RUB for my 10/15 Allure sailing: $1260pp to go to a CLS, $850 for 1BR AS or 2BR GS and $1760pp to go to the RLS. My dilemma is I am sailing with 7 others and solo in my room. I am 2/2 on my RUB and have the feeling I would win, so I am vacillating. Nobody but me would be able to use the perks and I stressed that the only thing we would be doing is eating dinner together. Truly first world problems.
  17. Ha. I keep telling myself not to start mine too early, its 10/15. I am aiming for Sept something........it's a good way to aid in the anticipation.
  18. I began to do specialty dining on embarkation day after the restart but for some reason, Mariner doesn't have any restaurants listed for embarkation day in the planner. I can always do Playmakers but if there is a MDR lunch, I would try that.
  19. I know I saw a post about Mariner doing an embarkation lunch in the MDR. Are they still doing it?
  20. If you need the internet and the cruise is over 5N, then the pre-purchased price will always be a better deal. Its only one day or $29.99, the cost of one day on board, off.
  21. If it was a 10in USB powered fan, then you will have to remove if it is in your carry-on as that happens to me every other time I fly. If not, USB powered, they will be like fine and its good. Of course, the checked bag will be the path of least resistance.
  22. Yes you can keep both. You can also see the CK menu and just keep it the nights that appeal to you.
  23. Probably not. I don't think it hurts to ask but it would really depend on what the gym offers, and I am not sure older ships have that set up.
  24. @bobroo I would slightly disagree. Naples had good pizza but I still prefer my neighborhood place in Chicago. But being from Chicago and having been to Italy, Sorrento's was and will always be some of the worse pizza only second to Scotland take on it.I love Scotland and their meat pies.
  25. I said this a while back. I was always under the impression that they were trying to determine what they could get away with charging on new ships. I was sent the survey and the Sorrento's' question was part of a lot of restaurant related questions as well as questions about the UDP. I get the feeling they want to try to introduce many more restaurants that are paid but options are both endless and limited.
