  1. Im thinking Super Bowl stuff. Our airfare to MIA or FLL is outrageous for the week AFTER the super bowl! Never seen it this bad
  2. You'll love it! Just make sure you have fins if its windy! Cabanas and the little "bay" they have for them is great
  3. Thanks! We are so jealous of your Diamond Plus! ?
  4. We are really looking forward to it also. Our plan is to live blog it in that section when we go (February '20) and vlog everyday to share when we get back on our youtube channel. Should be a blast! Hope others will find it interesting too ??️ Thanks everyone for the welcome!
  5. Sorry we have never been out of Galveston but at many Florida ports they have a special line for suite guests so make sure you find that. It is TOTALLY worth it! Once you are through the check in, there will hopefully be a special lounge to wait in to board the ship. Make sure you find that too if they have one! Take advantage of the special lounge on board the boat and use the concierge in that lounge for as much as you can to avoid the masses at guest service desk. There might also be an area on the pool deck for reserved seats for suite guests along with the shows as you mentioned. Possibly even in the windjammer too so double check there also. One thing to be prepared for is that the daily gratuities will be more than what you pay in a "regular" room so be aware of that. And of course enjoy the awesome balcony in the suite!!! You won't regret coming to Royal from the party ship! Class with still some partying! You'll love it! Enjoy!
  6. We had this for decorations for anniversary and birthday too. Their website is just a mess after the "upgrade" awhile ago. Just before replying to this post I couldn't get in to my cruise planner (which seems to happen often). Again, their "new and improved" website is just a mess and lacks the options and functions of the old site.
  7. Just wanted to say hello to everyone! We are new here....but not to cruising Royal. We have our 10th Royal cruise coming up in February '20 on a 9 night to the ABC islands. We are Diamond C&A members! We hope to be able to help others out from our experiences and get help from others from theirs! We love talking cruising since it's the best type of vacation there is!!! We have taken videos and photos of lots of our adventures while cruising and will try to share those as appropriate. Again hello and hope to get to know some fellow Royal travelers! Royal is the BEST! ?
  8. That will be a difficult surprise to pull off as stated above, but we did it on Mariner and it was fun! We had never done one before so luckily we had some Millennials assigned to our group to help us along. Lots of fun!
  9. They can do pretty much everything the guest service desk can do and more.....without the long lines!
  10. I would recommend being comfortable in water with some swimming ability. It gets really wavy and requires extra work to get around. If you aren't comfortable in water that could really freak someone out!
  11. I brought my own gear and went to chill island also. No cost from Royal! It is some of the best snorkeling for sea life I have done and Ive done a lot! Keep an eye out for jelly fish, the ones I saw were very small but numerous. If it is really windy it obviously gets very wavy and requires quite a bit of work to get around, just FYI. Make sure you check out all the area of Chill Island!
  12. We did a cabana on chill island. It was pretty quiet (minus the people that bring a speaker). We did not get snorkel equipment included (at least I don't think it was included). The floating mats are nice but you don't get many. We went in May '19 so maybe it's changed. I brought my own. The nice thing about the cabana is the shade and no need to save seats! Also safer place to leave stuff. The attendant is nice to have too. Its not too bad when you share it with several couples. Ours was $400 so it was $100 a couple. Not too bad. I didn't care for the delivered food and prefer to go to the grill on my own. Drinks are figured by what package you have. Some people say it's worth it and others say it's not. Depends on what you value and want for your experience.
  13. We did dolphins in Jamaica and that was our least favorite. We always do the ones where we get to be in the water with them and Jamaica was the least interactive FWIW (if you ever go there). Do as much research as you can because they are not all the same. It is TOTALLY worth the one where you ride on a board and get pushed. In regards to pictures...negotiate!!!!! Be willing to walk away and then hang out a little. Show interest but not at their insane prices. We saved a TON of money on a group disc of all pictures. Its like buying a car. Your daughter will LOVE it and have to do it at least once!!!
  14. We did one that was dolphin and stingrays. Highly recommend! The only piece of information to pass along is that it can get windy and wavy at the stingrays so will want to be a decent swimmer IMO. It is a bit busy with lots of boats and people there but it was manageable. We made a short video of the stingray area if you want a better idea of what it is like. Happy to answer any questions!
  15. Agree with the birds! So many people did not watch their plates and lots of food was stolen. Saw a hotdog get taken right out of the bun! You need to have someone watching them close even if for 2 seconds! As long as they are being watched properly there didn't seem to be any issues while we were there. We rented a cabana at chill island. One thing to note when we were there in May '19 was that they were not all done but probably are now. Ours was not completed and did not have the power outlets and deck like others. One thing the Diamond Lounge Concierge told us was that soon Royal will be "testing" the capacity at the island by bringing more than one boat in at a time. Not sure if and when this will happen and how that will affect the experience... It was a great island! From what we checked out we totally agree with the original poster. We did not check out much beyond Chill Island because that is all we wanted to do was mostly chill! If you have your own snorkeling gear you can use that and not have to rent any, FYI. We went on the wave jet tour excursion which was fun, not what we expected tho. Video of it if interested in doing it and wondering what it's all about. https://youtu.be/3dkUCgCJmMk
  16. We were there on May 23rd, 2019 and "MO" (me) went snorkeling alone. I brought my own mask, fin, snorkel to save money! I just want to comment quick that this is some of the best snorkeling I've done for aquatic life and I've done a lot while cruising (this was my 10th cruise). There are lots of fish and other stuff to look at! This was at Chill Island. In regards to the jelly fish...I did see a whole bunch! They were small but numerous. They were near the sunken airplane that they won't let you near anymore right by the barrier line. This was to the left of the floating platform swimmers can sit on that is way out there (to the left if looking from shore). Most of them were so small I had trouble realizing what they were until I got very close. I got the #$%^ out of the there and warned everyone near. It should be told that the winds were very strong and really pushing the waves in. All excursions that would be affected by wind were cancelled (no balloon that day). It was actually a lot more work then usual to snorkel that day but was still amazingly fun! Hope this helps!
