  1. Dining for 2 from our TA: For our last cruise (eons ago), I remember we went to Chops Grille shortly after we were on board. We must have been super lucky in getting a reservation for night 2, because I'm looking back at our photos and drooling over our filet mignon! How are they able to accommodate so many people's reservations, both on embarkation day, and then all the guests that are able to book online? Is there a chance we might not get a reservation at all? Thanks in advance.
  2. That's a nice looking brace and I like that it's machine washable. Thank you!
  3. Happy belated anniversary! A slice of cake and song would be very welcomed ...lol Our TA made a note also for our 2nd night, but we're trying to score a reservation at a specialty restaurant, fingers crossed!
  4. Aww, sorry to hear that. Thanks for getting back to me ?
  5. Thank you so much for an amazing review. My eyes are a bit fuzzy as I read through each page in one sitting. Belated happy 20th anniversary!!! We'll be celebrating our silver anniversary next year on our cruise! I didn't see any info if RCI acknowledged your anniversary?
  6. Thank you for the valuable feedback and info. I thought about that as well since I took a closer look at some members photos. It's a pricey tour (imo) too. I'm going to cross that option off! I'm so glad to hear you are okay, yes, that motorcycle cruise would have stressed me out to the max. It's bad enough getting hurt at home, but on vacation would be worse. Thanks also for the suggestion of the ankle brace. I find for my condition, kinesio tape works well and is thin enough to wear inside my running shoes. Take care of yourself ?
  7. I have an ankle injury that acts up if I walk too much. It seems like I will get more photos if I do a walking tour. It might be manageable, if I tape my foot. I was thinking of the Segway tour, but it might be too cumbersome to get on/off the Segway and whip out my camera, plus the helmet would give me bed head hair, so the photos wouldn't look so great ... lol I'm glad to hear you were able to do a lot of walking without a lot of pain. I agree, the next day can be very tiring and achy for most people. We have a sea day after San Juan, so hopefully the itinerary won't change! We're quite direction-challenged, so it was fantastic that you had a local guide. I would really like to do a self-guided tour, save some money, and go about on our own schedule. I was thinking I might need to "borrow" your pictures so I can refer to them, and ask people how to get to xyz! Your photos are the exact places that I would want to see and capture! Thank you again! I was also thinking, even though our time in port is from 7-4, we'd like to return to the ship early and grab lunch there. We spent way too much time on our last cruise doing so much that we were completely exhausted, lost weight (even from all the eating) and forgot to relax and enjoy the ship! This walking tour is really starting to grow on me .... lol I don't think we would have enough time to do the rain forest, especially since I am now considering getting back to the ship for lunch. The waterfall does not sound spectacular at all, thank you for pointing that out to me. We waited a very long time to cruise again, so I'd rather not waste our time or money. Appreciate your feedback!!
  8. Hello - I can't decide what to do in San Juan as well, it'll be our first time. Unfortunately, I can't do too much walking. El Yunque - that is the rain forest right? I was hoping to get some stunning photos. I don't plan to spend all day there, our ship is docked from 7-4, but I'd rather get back to the ship early. Was there a lot to do there, as well as?
  9. Hello everyone! I've been doing research on San Juan too. We'll be in port from 7 am - 4 pm. We've never been there before and this is the port I'm most excited about. I can't walk too much, so I was hoping for a guided city tour (in an air conditioned van). I'd like to spend about 4-5 hours max and I'll be taking pictures as well - not sure what to expect ... There are so many tour operators, so if anyone has a good recommendation, I'd appreciate it. I'd rather not walk out and randomly pick a tour operator since I like to read up about them first. @JLMoran - those are some nice pictures!
  10. Oh that's so sweet, thank you. I don't drink much alcohol or pop, but those are good tips!
  11. I think I just read it wrong, and saw the "The Captain invites all guests" as meaning everyone. I was confused that they would combine it (welcome everyone) with the top tier event ? Thanks for explaining. That sounds like a nice event, in which case, I still have a ways to go to reach that level ?
  12. And those ice sculptures! (From what I've heard and seen on TV)
  13. I remember buying those disposable waterproof cameras, the resolution was awful. I was going to get a waterproof sleeve for our iPhones, but they are fairly new and pricey and I'd be worried about damage. We do plan to bring one of our phones to take pictures at CocoCay, and then use the waterproof camera for when we're in the water. I need a zoom lens as well. This camera looks perfect. Thank you!
  14. I heard there are no more chocolates on the pillows ?
  15. You can look at some previous ones here: https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/cruise-compass?ship=282
  16. I'm looking at a current cruise compass on the RCI app and it lists the Captain's Welcome Party and Top Tier Event - 45 minutes The description says: The Captain invites all guest to a welcome reception held in their honor and Crown and Anchor Society event. It's a great photo op, so don't forget your camera. 1/ From what I read, this is for all guests? 2/ Has anyone attended one? I'm creating a planner and there are so many activities I'm trying to fit in, so I need to be selective (lol), and want to know what goes on? 3/ Re: great photo op .. does that mean we can take pictures with the Captain? I'm keeping to a budget, and would rather not line up for the photo op they usually have on a formal night for a fee TIA (thanks in advance)
  17. Awww, thanks everyone! Happy to be here! @Lovetocruise2002 - eh? LOL!
  18. Oh, I didn't know that, thank you. One less thing to worry about! We did carry a wad of $1 and $5 USD for our last cruise. Thanks also for the tip on the range (pun intended) lol
  19. Dare I say I feel a bit better now ...lol It was a very nice gesture for sure ? Nice Instagram worthy picture imo (in my opinion)!
  20. Thank you for the warm welcome! I find this forum very refreshing and quite different from others! Everyone is so friendly and respectful - awesome! I dl an app called photo resizer (I think in Canada, it might have a different name), tried it several times. It does ruin the image quality, but our little profile photo is the size of a dime, so it looks okay. Thanks for your help! I had to do it several times to get it down to 112 KB. Strange that it was accepted ...lol Thanks! I tried with that app too, thank you! I liked that website, it kept the image quality and was very easy to use. It stopped compressing at 177 KB and wouldn't resize anymore, but I bookmarked it for future use. Thank you!
  21. Perhaps a galley tour, if you haven't had one already?
  22. Hello everyone, I'm new to the forums ? I didn't find a tip in the search bar for this topic. I have a photo on my desktop computer, emailed it to myself, opened on my phone, downloaded an image resizer app, and the smallest I can get it to is 93 KB. The error msg says the photo should be 50 KB? TIA (thanks in advance)
  23. Wow, I can't believe every guest gets one? That's a lot of cakes!!! I just Googled it, and unfortunately it's only for sailings until December 2019. Our cruise isn't until Feb 2020 ?
  24. Oh wow, so pretty! What a beautiful cake! Are these cakes complimentary, or does RCI charge a fee?
  25. Hello everyone - I know this is an older post, but I just joined the forums today. We have a free specialty dining for 2 from our TA. We had this the last time we cruised as well, but that was eons ago. How much should we tip the waiter? I don't recall if there was an assistant waiter. TIA (thanks in advance)
