Brand new ships vs. Amplify older ones
Mike.s replied to D Alt's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Let's hope the rumours are correct, not all of us want huge mega ships with many thousands of passengers, we love the Royal experience but prefer the smaller ships. Kids have flown the nest so no need for all the bells and whistles. -
Odyssey of the seas - From Southampton 2025
Mike.s replied to Stephen Cooper's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
Disappointing not to see any other Royal ships on the list, still hoping that one day we may get an additional ship out of Southampton. -
We feel the same in the UK re Anthem, same shows, same itineries. Even a different Quantum class ship would be welcome, or change the shows on Anthem.
-
As we have to kill time waiting for a late afternoon or early evening transatlantic flight a later departure fom the ship would be great, but accept we're part of a small minority.

They weren't impressed. The weren't impressed

Southampton AB car Parking - Arrival time.
Mike.s replied to AndyPandy's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
We arrived just before 11 for our 11:30 boarding on Anthem, it was very well organised, porters waiting to pick up your cases. Parking was directly opposite the ship. Just remember to print out your permit, we forgot the first time- 5 replies

You'll probably find the prices are about the same, Royals sales are never what they claim to be. If you get OBC, it's normally because the price of the cruise has been increased
-
Not for the first time recently Royal Caribbean Group has oversold one of it's ships. https://www.cruisehive.com/celebrity-cruise-ship-oversold-six-months-before-sailing/99276 Thet really do need to sort their IT out

Do the changes mean people in the UK who booked via a US travel agent will no longer be able to benefit from repricing?
-
As an alternative Celebrity is sailing there, https://www.celebritycruises.com/gb/itinerary-search?sailStartDate=2024-04-01&sailEndDate=2024-10-31&dateToggle=M&portsOfCall=YOK

Should be a lifetime ban for any family that gets "asked" to vacate the ship mid cruise.
-
The UK prices include the 18% gratuity upfront, does the US price include them or add them when you checkout? Might be a reason for the difference, or that Royal can get away with charging higher prices in the UK market.

We booked a GTY junior suite on Anthem as we figured they're all in reasonable locations we'd be happy with. It saved us nearly £200 each.
-
Yes you should be able to, most ships have both 110V and 220V outlets.

last minute is the way to go at the moment
Mike.s replied to Morganno's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Not sure that's an option in Belgium, certainly isn't in the UK -
Depends where you're sailing from. This is from the FAQ on their website. The minimum age to consume alcohol on Royal Caribbean International ships on sailings originating from North America or the Caribbean is twenty-one (21). The minimum age to consume alcohol on Royal Caribbean International ships on sailings originating in Dubai, United Arab Emirates is twenty-one (21). The minimum age to consume alcohol on Royal Caribbean International ships on sailings from South America, Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand is eighteen (18). The minimum age to consume alcohol at all private destinations remains twenty-one (21) without regard to where the sailing originated.

Explorer of the Seas...dry dock
Mike.s replied to Billy B's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
Highly unlikely but I guess we'll find out tomorrow. I'm sure someone on the boards will be sailing on her when she resumes service. -
Stateroom Attendant New Policy - Independence
Mike.s replied to Irony of the Seas's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I assume that as they are increasing the number of rooms each attendant has to cover they'll be reducing the number of attendants. That concerns me more than only having the room serviced once a day, the attendants work hard to support their families at home, sadly a significant number of them may be looking for alternative employment. -
