  1. I'm watching the weather and debating what to do about my son's Try Dive lesson. Thankfully it was only $35, so if we wake up and it is still supposed to happen but he decides it is too cold to get in the water I guess I'll just eat the cost. My husband has been scuba diving since before he was born, so he has really been wanting to try it out. Fingers crossed he gets to do it, because this is the first cruise we have seen it offered (we have 8 cruises booked, and no other ones are offering this). A simple one hour trial would be awesome to see if we should invest more money into actual classes.
  2. Anyone seen this before? I’m looking at my app for next week’s Liberty of the Seas Canada cruise June 20 and saw it. If you have seen it on your cruise, do you have a picture of the offerings menu?
  3. We usually do Disney a few times a year, but annual passes have gone up so much and it has just become a more stressful vacation with the new roll outs. I still love it, but mostly do cheap vacations to Disney just to use our DVC now (we do RunDisney races mostly). So instead we switched to cruises. This year we have 5 booked, and next year we have 3 booked. I search the site often and when I find a good deal I book. My husband just shrugs and laughs. I go stir crazy if I don't go away for at least a night every month, so having all these cruises booked helps to keep my sanity. My kids are at an age where they really enjoy cruising (9,9,11,13), and they don't need to be watched like hawks every moment of the day anymore. So it was a good time to switch from Disney to cruising.
  4. Oh yeh missed that part. I'm direct MCO to FLL. No way I would do it if it wasn't a quick direct flight! I'd happily fork over the Uber money if there was a stopover involved in flying.
  5. I'm doing this in April. I'm running races at Disney then boarding a cruise the next day. It is $60 to fly MCO to FLL, $95 to rent a car plus the cost of gas (and tolls maybe? I didn't look to see if there are tolls). I have to head to the airport to put my son on a plane back to CT, so smartest option is for me to also hop on a plane to get to the port.
  6. I haven't been able to search the cruise up in a few days, so it must be sold out. The Bermuda cruises before and after only have insides left. That's a bummer, I was almost thinking I should extend my vacation...
  7. Thanks for the info! We just did an in person application for our daughters on Tuesday (they are only 9 so it had to be in person), hoping theirs doesn't take too long. We don't need them until September for their next cruise, but it certainly takes stress off to get them sooner rather than the 10-13 weeks they are estimating (last time we did passports 2 out of 4 kids' photos got sent back with instructions that they needed to be retaken. Thankfully we had started them early enough that we still had plenty of time before the cruise!).
  8. When bidding opened up I did low bids for the one and two bedroom grand suites. We can't normally try Royal Up because I have 4 kids and book two rooms. I figured since I'm only bringing two kids this time, I may as well take a gamble and see what happens. Anyone else put a bid in?
  9. I did the barcode trick and can see which balcony room I was assigned. Got my 11:00 check in time, scanned all the passports, now I just need to make myself look presentable one day so I can do pics.
  10. For our May 2019 cruise the water park could have been booked for about $25. One of my cruises now has it for $140! We did it Nov 2022 over Thanksgiving for $50 and didn't even think it was worth that. I'll stick with the free stuff (well except the day bed....I have that booked to try out for my December cruise). Oh wait we also have scuba booked...last year it was $37, this year $67. But even that isn't a bad price so I'm fine with that increase.
  11. I've bought it for $125 for up to 100 photos the last 3 cruises (2018, 2021, 2022) This coming cruise (Xmas 2023) I got it for $150. All the other upcoming cruises are even more, so I am done buying it.
  12. When I had this issue Nov 2022 I sent a message through Facebook and they took care of it for me.
  13. My husband and I were going on a cruise alone for his 40th. A week before we were leaving my uncle died unexpectedly. Then my sister's best friend died unexpectedly a couple days later (my sister was supposed to watch our kids). I spent the week having no clue if we could go, because my sister's friend lived in Colorado and we are in CT - she was leaving for the funeral. My mom said she would watch the kids, so we threw everything together for her to watch the kids and whatever we needed for the cruise and caught our flight. The day of embarkation was also the day of my uncle's funeral. I got to the port and handed them my passport and instantly realized my mistake when I saw the picture - it was my expired passport. My mom thankfully wasn't at the funeral yet, so she ran to my house and took pics of my birth certificate and marriage certificate and emailed them to the rep at the "special help desk." As soon as I got home I shredded the expired passport!
  14. Years ago when I was a teen it was an option for 18-20. They asked when we checked in if my parents wanted to allow me to be able to purchase wine and beer, and they signed their consent. It was then indicated on my key card that I could (I forget how. I think no alcohol people had a certain mark on their card, and if there wasn't a mark you could drink).
  15. We bought the WOW bands once a few years ago but regretted it the first day. We still had to always have our SetSail Pass to get the kids from Adventure Ocean, so we should have just saved our money because we ultimately just ended up using our lanyards. In a couple years, once our kids are older and won't be doing Adventure Ocean, I could see us using it again (we do Disney often and love having the magic bands there).
  16. To help you feel even more secure....unlike a hotel where you can open your own door in each room, on the cruise the room attendant has to unlock the connecting doors.
  17. I've done Taste of the Caribbean (rum drinks) twice on Anthem. My mom recently did it on another ship. The first time I did it, it was very interactive and entertaining. The next time the bartenders just read from a packet and poured us our drinks (the first time they taught us how to use the shakers, how to do fancy looking things with them, and did not need a script at all). It was $40ish, so worth it. If you have the deluxe beverage package you get a discount (20% I think?). We had I believe 6 samples and then at the end we got to choose which one we liked best and they made us a full sized drink of it. We asked guest relations when the class would be for the second cruise, since I knew I had enjoyed it the year before. It wasn't well advertised - it was a Thanksgiving sailing and there were only I think 5 of us doing it.
  18. You can link them all in your account if you have the reservation numbers. Then you'll be able to book things in the cruise planner for anyone. Log into your account, and where you see your cruise there should be an area that says Link a Reservation.
  19. We were on Anthem for Thanksgiving 2022 and it was fine. If you ask my 10 year old it was more than fine...we never saw him without a slice in his hand every time we passed him during the day! And every time he came back to the room he had a plate full to share with the others.
  20. Others have given good info already, but I just wanted to let you know if your child has trouble sitting in the MDR, just let the waiter know and they will get their food out first. Our daughter's first cruise when she was 5 was rough (different diagnosis, similar issues some of which were severe at that time). The waiter was excellent about making sure she and I got our food quickly, then would have my husband bring me the dessert back to the room when he and the other 3 kids were finished with their meals (I had no free hand to carry the dessert because...times were rough with her then). While it wasn't the relaxing dinner I would have wanted, at least I got to eat a hot meal before whisking her back to the room. Also, not food related...but if you do want to try Adventure Ocean they will give you a phone that works on the ship. We let our daughter do it a couple times that cruise, and someone just stayed close with the phone waiting for the inevitable phone call. They NEVER judged her or us, and were so compassionate and understanding. We still get the phone when she goes to AO, but thankfully now are at a point where she is able to tell them something is wrong and they will call us to head it off ("these pants don't fit like I want them to!" - so thankful they are sensitive enough to know they should call us and not just ignore stuff like that).
  21. The 10 year old was comfy, but were the grandparents
  22. This only works in the rooms are near each other, but we just leave the extra cards in each stateroom. So nobody has to carry multiple cards around. If I need to get into my parents's room, I go into my room and get their card. If they need to get into my room, they have the card in their room. So far we have lucked out and had rooms close so we could do this.
  23. The price of the Peggy's Cove tour went up before I decided to book, so I figured I would skip it. But then I saw it was still in my cart under the old price, so I booked. It still gives us the afternoon near the port to just walk around, so it should be a good day. Anyone know how Johnny Rockets is for pricing? Anthem was pay for what you wanted (I think...I admit I didn't actually get anything), but I know other ships are a set price. I figure since we have never done it in all of the kids' cruises (I used to do it ALL THE TIME when I was a kid and it was free), maybe this time we will actually take the time to stop by.
  24. Has anyone done this? How many people per boat? Assuming nobody has booked it yet( it was just released a few days ago, so possibly someone has but let's go with they haben't), it looks like they allow 12 slots per time period. Wondering if that is between 1 boat or 2, because we will have 7 people if we decide to do it.
