  1. They should put that 300 million into some fresh carpet on the Voyager class ships.
  2. Hey, here's an idea. Instead of relying on the company to pick you out of thousands of guests, work a little harder in life if the GRAND SUITE is soooooooo important to you. The good ole age of entitlement is getting OLD!
  3. Go on an Oasis class ship, you'll change your mind quickly about RCL.
  4. There was was a news story of a 15 year old girl getting gang raped on Empress of the Sea's. Just because you go through security does not make these ships any more safe.
  5. Call me crazy, but out of all the ship classes, (I have been on them all), I actually enjoyed the Windjammer setup and food on Majesty of the Seas the best. Everything seemed extremely fresh and well prepared with delicious pasta salads and even Manhattan Clam Chowder which I have never seen on any other ship. *This was back during the Cuba sailings.
  6. Their books are getting pummeled by these hurricanes. They have to make it up somewhere and this must have been the easiest target to save/make some quick cash for the Q1 Earnings report of 2020.
  7. Yeah I have to lose 5k in the casino for that bottle of red wine LOL
  8. Very well written write-up! Sometimes I enjoy reading summary reviews more than full extensive reviews as these get right to the point and can be read in just a few minutes. It sounds like you had a Grand Suite? The Grand Suite is usually my go to unless I can get a RoyalUp bid to go through or a great Casino Rate on a Crown Loft Suite. If you have the opportunity in future, by the sound of it, I think you would enjoy it very much as you are on 17 and have everything very close, including the bar for more drinks!
  9. I definitely hear you out on that and apologize if I sounded sarcastic in my responses. There are some real losers out there, and it's especially frustrating when you are on vacation for something like that to happen. It's all fun and games until you get that one person that can't handle their alcohol and turns into a raging a-hole.
  10. I'm sure you you were in the right, but I just don't think it's appropriate to bring up regardless who was at fault. This really isn't the forum to relay those type of situations as it can open up a huge door for all types of bantering/insults/negativity. To be clear I don't live in Texas, I just don't think it's fair to call out groups people in a forum that's supposed to be fun and informative. You could have just as easily got your point across without name calling.
  11. So the next time I have a issue with someone and they are from a different geographic location than me, should I use that to aid in my argument? Don't be cute with the "Texan" label, own up to the insult.
  12. Not sure if any of you have been on Norwegian Escape. The casino on that ship is built into the atrium of the ship. When I was on it back in 2017, as soon as I boarded the ship you could smell the scent of stale smoke. I'm not sure if it's still that way today but Royal usually having their casinos tucked away kind of solves the problem for most of the ship. In essence for the non-smokers, it can be much worse. On the Norwegian Bliss they built a completely walled off smoking section (looking at you Royal). There was still a faint smell outside the room from the doors opening but I would say it corrected the smell by 90% from the old setup on the Escape. I truly feel bad for the employees that have to work in that room. The smoke was so potent you could hardly stop your eyes from tearing up, (not an exaggeration). They need to find a company with state of the art equipment to filter the air. For how much the casinos pull in, I think it's the least they can do. Simple calculation, conduct surveys of how many of their customers smoke while gambling. If the casino is 10,000 square/feet and 30% of customers smoke while gaming, have a 3,000 sq./ft. gaming space dedicated for them.
  13. Do you ever get pegged by customs about how much cash you have on you? Has only happened to me twice, out of around 20 cruises, "luckily" I lost on those trips lol
  14. I still like the upstairs (double) shower on Allure & Oasis. Now its just a lonely water saving shower head. I guess there must have been a lot of requests for tubs lol
  15. I always tried to figure out if this some how affected my comps at the end of the cruise because RC are taking a 3% hit from the credit card companies on the money taken out. I feel that a couple times that I took out 10k plus, my comps seemed a little light at the end of the cruise. Not sure if anyone has some inside information on this , as there could be a variety of factors. Thanks.
  16. Exactly, that's the beef I have with their system. The land based casino's record precisely how much money you buy in with and precisely how much money you leave the table with. This helps the casino determine your discretionary comp balance which is different than the points you accumulate. When they swipe your card they don't enter any information, it just records the game you are playing at, and for how long. That information is imported to the casino floor's spreadsheet where they manually enter how much you are playing per hand which it turn renders your points. Where they make up for it is a free cruise that can have a base value of $3,000 +/- depending on which category you earn. If you lose a lot of money quickly (table games), at a land based casino you can always ask a host or pit manager for an room, dinner, or other comp based on your net loss, even if it was fast. On Royal Caribbean, they are basing their comp's solely off of your theoretical loss over time. Example: If you play Roulette for 10 hours over the course of a cruise with a theoretical hold of 5.6% with an average bet of $100 per spin (20 spins per hour) the casino can theoretically expect to win $1,120.00 from you. [$100 per bet * 20 spins * 10 hours] * [0.056 hold]. If the casino issues back 10% (varies at different casinos) of your theoretical losses, you can expect a folio credit of $120.00 + points accumulated.
  17. Yeah I'm on the 9/28 cruise on Symphony, trying to go from a Grand to Crown Loft again. Ship is completely booked solid, maybe someone will cancel again lol
  18. Does anybody know if Royal will be looking at AMPING any of the Radiance class ships after they are done with the current lineup schedule?
  19. Out of curiosity, if anyone was on an extended cruise due to Hurricane Dorian, how does Royal Caribbean handle the extension of drink packages, specialty dining, and internet? I would assume they make you pay a daily rate but I really couldn't find any concrete information on the issue.
  20. I personally love that class of ship (Radiance). I feel it is just the rite size of ship, not too small where you feel cramped but not so big it's a chore walking from point A to point B. With that being said it's also seen it's better days in terms of aesthetics, I wish they would AMP these ships. Are you sailing out of Tampa? If so you will find the port to be extremely easy in terms of getting to the port and getting on the ship. Getting off the ship is long as they only have 3 customs agents and one of the agents is dedicated to the porter line. If the line is long I highly suggest putting $10-$20 aside and have the porter take you to the front of the line.
  21. Less than 48 hours for me, Junior Suite to a Crown Loft on Allure. I'm guessing someone cancelled.
  22. Well if you absolutely don't have to have both phones connected at the same time you can just buy 1 package. Some people tend to think that it only can be used on "1 device", it can be used on any device just "1" at a time. If you plan on using it to text each other on the ship, you can use Royal's message system in the app (I think it's around $3-4 day/device).
  23. $12.97 in Tampa, FL (Total Wine). Gave it try this weekend, WOW.
  24. I find the internet to be quite good. If you have ever sailed on Norwegian (even their newest ships) RC internet blows them completely out of the water (no pun intended). I have even had luck using Wi-Fi calling depending on how strong your signal is (with Surf+Stream) package. So if I talk to someone using Cellular at Sea @ $5.99 minute, after 2 minutes, the plan pays for itself. Some people just like to turn their phones off and for that I commend you but I'm just too addicted to the web lol.
