  1. We are on this cruise as well (me, my wife, 17 yo son). We are looking to book a trip to the glacier in Olden and one of the train tours in Flam.  Not sure that we have go-to excursions in Stavenger or Haugesund as there aren’t many options. Probably will do the fjord boat tour in Stavenger and a best-of Haugesund tour I found on Viator.

We had never been to Europe til June 2023 and this will be our third trip to London in a year!  We will be limited on time so probably will just stay at Heathrow the night before the cruise but there’s a lot to see.  We LOVE staying around Trafalgar Square because so much is close by.  Take the Tube from the area to the Tower of London, walk to Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Piccadilly and Leicester Squares.  There are also tours either before (through private companies) or after (through Royal) to Stonehenge and/or Windsor.

Scheduled to board Odyssey on Jan 2nd, will be our first cruise since March 2020 cancellation of last cruise.  Definitely interested in any updates you can give as your cruise progresses. Maybe you can settle a quarrel between my wife and I.  Mask on or off in the solarium?  I say its indoor space so yes if your not in the water, she disagrees.

I’m almost positive people went without masks in the Solarium.  We were only in there briefly and kept our masks on but seem to recall others had them off.

  3. We put in a bid for a suite on our upcoming cruise.  It appears that most seem to find out if their RoyalUp bid is accepted about 2 days prior to sailing.  We have purchased Zoom separately and I was wondering if they let you cancel it onboard if your bid for a suite, which includes Zoom, goes through?  It doesn’t sound as if there will be time to cancel it in the planner before it closes pre-cruise otherwise.

  4. W really liked Tabyana in Roatan although there is no open bar - all drinks are ala carte. The food was typical grilled items - burgers, hot dogs, chicken -which were included and we thought were good.  I know Matt has an article about the Mayan Princess, which is right down the beach from Tabyana, which is all inclusive.  We liked Tabyana because the beach seating was more expansive than at the Mayan Princess and there is “security” which prevents the numerous beach vendors from bothering you unless you choose to engage them. The highlight of my entire cruise was watching the vendors go by and seeing what they were selling.

  5. The prices for the Chill Island and Oasis Lagoon cabanas were ~$499 just before Memorial Day then we’re both sold out for our Thanksgiving Cruise on Harmony.  Now the Chill Island is back at $1299 and I check every day to see if it will drop.  I was on the fence about booking it at the lower price but won’t pay anywhere near what they’re asking. I’m hoping Coco beach club will open a bit early and we will just pay to access that (without a cabana).

  6. Eden Rock would be a terrific choice.  It is located to the right of where the tenders dock and s only a few blocks away on the downtown waterfront.  It’s a blue building that you should easily see as you tender in.  Very good diving and helpful staff.  Not sure if they could arrange a buddy, though.

In general, Grand Cayman is very safe so I wouldn’t have any reservations about walking there yourself.  It’s a short walk and they’ll be a lot of cruisers in the same area.
