Yeah Yeah I know this site is Royal but they are related kind of? I used to live on the island of Bimini. A buddy said he saw a RCL ship there a little while back. Thought it would be nice to give it a go for a quick fill in trip, to show Hyperhot , my Fiance, my old stomping grounds. RCL does go there but currently from only Tampa. Next year 5 dates will be added from Canaveral. I live an hour from Lauderdale/ Miami. Saw a couple other lines that do stop there. One was immediately kicked to the curb. I won't say which. Then I stumbled on Celebrity having one that does go there and Key West as well. That being another old stomping ground would knock two visits off my bucket list for her. The question is how much difference is there between them and us. I'm so used to Royal and having a good grip on how to navigate and flow with them. Will I be ok with Celebrity or will it be a stuffy vibe? When out of my area of expertise I always feel ok asking the dumb questions that I don't have answers to. Wondering about the aforementioned snobbery potential. How about food quality? Amenities? Shows? Any other notable differences?

I had that problem after my last cruise. They finally awarded then both on app and on dashboard they were taken back? I called and no Explanation just a "sorry". All was good then they vanished from the app again??? They are at least matching now...

I had a running list of the missing ones. I didn't have a full spread sheet. I had casino chips, and other mementos even had my platinum and emerald pins. They wanted my sea passes that went away during my divorce. Which happened to be around the time my (and ex wifes) accounts were closed then started fresh, missing most of our sailings. So I have had the pleasure of being gold twice, platinum twice and soon to be emerald for the second time instead of Diamond heading toward plus... I got tired of fighting about it. When the last C+A manager tried to tell me that pictures I had of me before and after amp on Indy clearly from same angle in Cozumel (near Carlos and Charlies) was only one in Coz and the other was Legend in Alaska, I knew incompetence was the norm even at higher levels.

I know about that but was curious about ending and starting from a foreign port as possibly being different... Instead of the foreign port just being a port of call.

I have done my homework and have a base understanding of an ordinary b2b. Where my question(s) come in is in the first case is that they aren't closed loop. One departs Seward, Alaska and ends up in Vancouver, Canada. The next departs Vancouver back to Seward. Is the process any different than say Miami RT and Miami RT as a B2B? The next is kind of dreaming big. Vancouver Canada ending in Hawaii followed by a trans Pacific . Same question... Are there different processes than a "Normal B2B"?

That worked. Now ... If C+A ever got their act together and come up with a more accurate way to keep their records straight...

They show both the same? Their accuracy is frequently not their strong suit. Going to unload the app and re install. A person elsewhere suggested that.

Once again I got points issues. The main page on line has me at one set of points. The app is missing some and a different number? Neither one is right but the higher one is closer to what "their count" has been reflecting? How do I get at least the two numbers showing the same? Its the app thats short...

When was your first visit to CocoCay? (a.k.a. Little Stirrup Cay)
deep1 replied to Jill's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
As part of a cruise, Jan of 2000... As a fisherman and it being "Little Stirrup" that dips into the late 70's. -
Yes it went well. As mentioned the other half is already dialing in a "do over" . The peaceful "vibe" of everything put her at ease. I alluded to this cruise as needing to be special and it was. I didn't mention the reason as I didn't want people thinking I was on some pity trip to 'Get something" . No it wasn't a proposal or wedding. Kind of the other end of the spectrum. She lost her cat, her thoroughbred show horse (Professional rider and trainer) then to cap it off she lost her mom. It needed to be restful and smooth. It was...

Quantum is different than most I have sailed on. Instead of a big long straight promenade It was short with a lot of curves. "270" is a big theater aft with windows to watch our wake in the comfort of being inside. Very well done design. The aft part of Windjammer had out door seating. We did not do inside passage so 'fiord" feel was in short supply as a trade off...

PS- The MDR was just fine and the lobster tails surprisingly big. Double the sizes of the ones on either cruise on Oasis or the one on Independence we did this past year or so.

I often read negatives about what didn't go right. Now its time for what did go right, which was most everything. From the time the taxi pulled up to the big blue girl all was good. The Key whisked us past the crowds right on board to a great chops lunch. Muster was quick and easy but required a red do as something didn't register with the system the first time. No problem I like deck 4 any way. Room great, attendant great, pre-ordered blanket and water in place. Ketchikan maintained its rep as my favorite stop. Shopped till we dropped. Gal got a mastodon or mammoth bone bracelet. We watched the salmon in the river. Then we ducked the long lines of the fish house for my snaky "best place" the Crab and Go. Chowder of course good but the halibut they do is the best fish dish I have ever tasted (and I'm a pro fishing boat captain). We did the bears in Sitka and they didn't disappoint. Lunch there was at a street vendor and we had snow crab rolls and wild berry tea. Juneau we got lucky . Cab ride to the glacier was shared. The fog lifted allowing us to see it in all its glory. We saw eagles as well. We had done lunch aboard before going in to town so no food secrets there. Found a blanket in town for 1/4 the price they were charging back on the ship. Sea days were spent on the balcony spotting whales, dolphins, mola, a couple otters and puffins. Even a school of tuna that I had no idea went that far north. We stayed aboard in Victoria. Hated to get off. We did a day room thing in town. Revisited Pike's place. Then off to Airport. Heard nightmare stories about long TSA lines.... They were not exaggerating! Should have listened to advice. Flight packed but smooth. Found out the hard way that sleeping on an Alaska air 737 wasn't gonna happen. Still sleepy as a person could get , I stayed awake reliving the great rip we just had. The mindset on Fiancé was that this would be a one time thing. Not a full day after getting home and she's already fine tuning one southbound on Radiance to get more Alaska time and maybe some inside passage time this trip.

Ex wife was South African . We used her green card (permanent resident) before becoming citizen then her Naturalization documents with BC til a passport was issued. .
-
I bring passport. Then I bring United States Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Officer credential. (Fancy words for fishing charter boat captain license). That would confuse them then add my security cleared TWIC and Homeland Security SBO and their heads would spin... I did a few a long time ago using BC and Crown and Anchor has not been able to find those sailings. Still if passport is nearing expiration bringing the BC as back up can't hurt. Fiance has passport in Maiden name but Drivers License still married name. Brings a bridging doc (Marriage license) to cover that.

Dumb "bringing bottles onboard" questions
deep1 replied to Bruin Steve's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
You're good to go with a couple bottles (1 each adult) of regular strength wine or champagne but cognac, brandy or other high test is verbotten. You are allowed to bring on I believe 12 units of soda in 16.9 oz bottles. Possible that number is per person but I don't honestly know. These items are to be carried in carry on bags. A 12 pack of soda and couple bottles can and does get heavy. -
Aug 28. I found that thread over on the social media page about the Kayak cancellation. Someone asked if it was because of "timing" and that that particular excursion set for 1:15 just minutes after arrival? So even on that thread confusion exists as to what's cancelled and what's not. Hoping we can get some real info pertaining to that here. I had originally planned to do the blue bus. Then switched to taxi to the visitor center then hoof it to the falls. Not sure if that can be done now???? I was up there about 20 years ago and we couldn't even turn toward Endicot due to mass calving, Icebergs and also flood issues . That trip we did a helicopter up to the glacier that wasn't affected.
-
First they stopped the blue bus runs to Mendenhall. Ok people booked alternates that include other activities or others choosing to rent cars or hire taxis. Now we had some dam break and flood the area. On other social media I saw at least a kayak tour was cancelled but didn't see what date it was for. I'd imagine that more cancellations have happened or will be. Anybody hear anything we could use this thread as an information pool.

Alaska, -Vancouver-airlines? NY or other airport?
deep1 replied to Pattycruise's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I did Alaska Airlines last time Loved em... -
I have had it a few times. Each time bought it very close to price for two devices internet. Final cost to me very little net. My fiancé loves it. That line around the building? Not with the key. Right inside and right on! Nice quiet lunch away from the Windjammer stampede. Carry on bags at room. No wait for stuff. No problem getting in shows. Good seats. >>>> All that stuff that comes with a suite.... I see it list for like $47 each a day on upcoming cruise? We got in way way lower. Never in a million years would it be worth that $47 tag. If you already have a suite, do not throw your money away to get the same perks you basically already have. If we did or do get a suite, the Key is not on the "must list"... If you're stuffed in some dungeon and its priced about that of internet access alone? Go ahead...

Once upon a time I was a pretty decent photographer. That was in dinosaur days with film and stuff. Today there is a new breed and hoping that you, fellow cruisers could point me in the right direction. I see "bridge" cameras that have good pricing. I actually had a couple. Most of the older ones had CD's you ran to get the computer to be able to read. I'm seeing newer that run a SD card...? I think that is something you stick in one of the ports on computer or have a card reader? This basically means no matter what I gotta wait til I get back home to my computer to transfer. Then we get to the "adult cameras"... DSLR. Looking at a camera package by Canon. That one comes with a regular lens and a telephoto 75-300... I see under connectivity "Wi-Fi and NFC"... I have no clue what NFC means. Wi Fi has me curious? Does that mean it has the capability of transmitting images to my cell phone directly or to somebody else back in the states? If this were possible it might be the deciding factor. Fiancé wants to send steady stream of Alaska pics to daughter back home in college.

I always tip extra... Most times 50 to each in the dining room then 50 to cabin attendant.

Recently I have been having problems on a regular basis with it not letting me enter with "stored Id and Password. Each time its making me type in both? The app works ok on my phone though.
