Perfect info!  Thanks Lovetocruise. I’d love any insight into how to flow of family time and adult time has worked for you with your two kids at those ages. I’m hopeful my girls will enjoy the kids space at least an hour a day and maybe do some general activities together on the ship.  But I have no idea what they’ll like and how safe I’ll feel letting them go.
(I know this was a post about food, but I can hijack my own post, right?? ? TIA! First time cruising with kids and haven’t cruised in 20 years!)

Your 12 year old will be in the teen club.  The teen club is supervised typically in the evening however the teens can come and go as they wish.   If you are traveling over a school break, the teens will be separated into a 12-14 group and a 15-17 group.  If you are traveling during school, then there might be less teens onboard.  The biggest suggestion is to make sure she goes to the teen club the first night as that is when there is a meet and greet.
Here is a sample of the teen club compass.  It won't be exact as it is a longer sailing on Allure but will give you an idea.  https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/cruise-compasses/allure-of-the-seas/sun-2017-10-22-0000-0
I'll be on a 4 night Navigator cruise in July and will send Matt the teen compass.

As long as they're not ALL the way in the back, I think the aft rooms are more easily accessible to most activity areas than those on the front of the ship.  There seems to be less movement (although I am not sensitive to movement) in the aft versus the front.

Go with Deck 9.  I don't like being under the pool deck because of the moving chairs.

Thank you thank you!!  You guys are so helpful and patience with this newbie.
Now that I’m looking at the aft rooms I’m thinking about one by the library.  Might be nice to have that space close.

Just read the cruise compass from twangster and it looks like solarium’s hours are 8:30am-8pm.  Might be safe to have a room under it??  I love the quick access for the kids to the pool. Just don’t want a story like Jason12!
