Walk-in for specialty restaurants lunch on embarkation day?
KristiZ replied to AhaOhio's topic in Royal Caribbean Dining
I don't think you will have any trouble getting in to one of the open specialty restaurants upon embarkation. Just head there promptly and either go right in or make a reservation. Most people are either boarding later than noon or else busy checking out the ship and not thinking about lunch. -
Mahjong games/lessons available on Spectrum?
KristiZ replied to SJay's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Pre-covid when we sailed Spectrum, there were set times in the cruise compass for Mahjong play in the MDR. There may have been a lesson or two also. Hopefully it is back! -
I actually saw a wine package on my last cruise (Jewel to the Arctic, June '22). I was surprised, as I hadn't seen one in years. You can always ask! It has never been available before the cruise, to my knowledge.

A cocktail geek walks into a cruise-ship bar....
KristiZ replied to SeaSomm's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Talk to the bar manager and find out which sommelier they recommend as the most experienced, then talk to that person about what interests you. There are sometimes one-off bottles or limited supplies of wine that don’t make it to the menu. Never hurts to ask! Also, if you can catch the last one or two sailing before a ship heads to dry dock you can get some great wine deals as they empty their cupboards! -
I hadn't gotten emails for years, even after switching to a gmail address. Then a month ago I called C&A for an unrelated reason and they went through all my information, confirming it was still valid. Suddenly I'm getting emails. I think even though I changed my email on the website, the database was still clinging to my old hotmail address that never worked for the marketing emails. Worth a shot.

Bringing soda or water cases onboard
KristiZ replied to KristiZ's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
The FAQ still has the non-alcoholic beverages policy, so as usual things are in direct conflict -
Just got our cruise docs for our March 5 departure and I noticed that bringing soda or water onboard during embarkation is no longer allowed. Curious if anyone else has seen this? Might just be a Barbados thing. I just wouldn't want anyone to be surprised by a change if this is a new direction: "Guests are not allowed to bring beer, hard liquor, fortified wines (vermouth, sherry, sake, and port wines) or nonalcoholic beverages onboard for consumption or any other use. Guests may bring personal wine or champagne onboard only on embarkation day, limited to two (2) bottles (no boxes) of 750 mi per stateroom. Wine should be brought onboard via carry on if possible. Luggage containing wine or champagne will not be delivered to the stateroom and guests will need to retrieve their luggage from security once the ship has set sail."

Yes, that's the cleanest way to do it. Navigate to logoff.com and you're all set.

They are not. And there was a pretty hard sell when we did this. The photos were great, but not that great

General travel requirements for entering foreign countries
KristiZ replied to D Alt's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Your airline should handle advising you of that kind of requirement, since they’re on the hook if they transport you without making sure you meet requirements. As far as Royal is concerned you just magically appeared at the ship at your assigned boarding time -
General travel requirements for entering foreign countries
KristiZ replied to D Alt's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
As of right now there are no special requirements (visa or covid) for Americans going to Barbados. -
They're on the last page of your Cruise Documents, that you can find online or will get emailed to you. Glad you're having a good time!

Symphony accessible ocean view balcony
KristiZ replied to Nonniecruiser's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Welcome to the boards! There are accessible balconies as low as deck 6. I recommend working with a travel agent to find what you need. -
I seem to remember it being in the app, once you're connected to the ship's wifi.

Welcome to the boards! A cup of coffee (rather than a latte or capp) will be free. A soda is $3.50

Welcome to the boards! Just bring both your passport and your birth certificate. I'm guessing you're on a closed-loop cruise from Ft Lauderdale? And you're American? If so you should be able to use your birth certificate if your passport is questioned.

Is this your first cruise in the Med? If so, I would do Voyager -- spend the savings on great shore excursions (Private Journeys or 3rd party or whatever). When we were in the Med we made sure we ate on shore at lunch as much as we could, so dining on the ship was less important. We just weren't much hungry at the end of the day Like you we sail mostly in suites, but on the port-intensive trips we often just do a JS, especially with our Diamond drinks. There just isn't time for the suite/concierge club most of the days.

Did you try the app, to see if the lunch menu is there? You can see it ahead, usually.
