We liked it at first, but the questions rarely change and the whole thing can be boring if the cruise director isn’t good. Any couple who’s sat through a couple shows should be able to do well if they were up on stage.

Be aware of any events happening in the local area on the day you disembark. We disembarked a couple years ago the same morning as the Miami Marathon. That was a xxxx show of epic proportions.

Something to remember...just because you can put a bid in for an upgrade doesn't mean there are actually cabins available. Royal is all about maximizing their profits, so they hedge their bets for any no-shows and last minute cancellations. In my opinion, the glory days of Royal Up were during the restart. Now that ships are sailing full, not many are getting their bids accepted.

This ^^ We've used Air2Sea a few times since we started traveling in 2019. The ticket prices were within our budget and the "get you to the ship" part of it comforted us. Not having to pay for the flights until the cruise final payment was nice, too....until we booked a flight to Europe that we couldn't chose seats on until we paid in full. Now that we have some traveling experience under our belts, we've come to realize that we are able to book flights better ourselves. We can choose the class, route, and fare we want to pay for (even within the basic classes such as "Economy" there are different fares). We always check Air2Sea when we fly for cruises now, but when comparing apples to apples, we haven't found Air2Sea to be any cheaper. This may be because we are not flying first class...ymmv. We are flying to Heathrow for a cruise this coming fall (on another cruise line), and we were able to book flights cheaper than their Cruise/Air packages.....and non-stop from Boston at that. The only east coast, non-stop options they offered were from the NYC area, but we're a couple hours north of Boston. There is an informative thread about Cruise Air on the other cruise forum. ***Off topic a bit: The "get you to the ship guarantee" went out the window for us last fall when our connecting flight in Lisbon, Portugal was canceled. I was on the phone with Air2Sea while my wife and I were in the long "queue" at the ticket desk. Air2Sea could not verify that the flight was canceled, and until they could, I was told there was nothing that could be done as far as getting us on another flight unless the airline did it....then the call disconnected because all cell service/wifi dropped when we approached the ticket counter. The airline ended up rebooking us on a flight the next morning as well as giving us hotel and food vouchers. To Air2Sea's credit, they did follow up with me to make sure we were all set, but the whole experience didn't leave us with a warm fuzzy feeling.

I’m not old yet, but I’ll be 75 in 2045. While that’s not old either, I’ve abused my body some over the years. I might not be very spry. I’m glad I had the opportunity to be in path of the eclipse this time around.

After reading @Lovetocruise2002’s reply, I realized we lumped Canadian provinces into the count of different license plates (my wife holds dual Canadian/US citizenship and our camp is only a few miles from the ME/Quebec border anyway). Corrected version….we saw license plates from 29 states and three provinces.

lol Yea, our camp is way out there...quite removed from things, including cell service (which we like). We weren't sure if we were going to be able to get in this past weekend. With the early spring, the lakes aren't safe to take snowmobiles across but the roads could have had too much snow to get a truck down. Our timing was excellent, because with the melting yesterday and today along with the rain coming tomorrow, Mud Season will slam into us. The roads won't be passable for a month or so.

We have an off grid camp that was smack dab in the middle of the path. It took some work to get there because it’s very isolated, way in the woods and still winter, but we made it. 20 miles off the tar road and we were able to get within a half mile of camp. Thank goodness for 4wd, good tires, self recovery equipment, and the fact that the road had been plowed a few times this winter for logging…..and also for one of our kids who suggested we get eclipse glasses six months ago. Unlike most people in the state, we were totally alone when we saw it. It’s the first eclipse we’ve seen in our 55 years. It was neat to hear coyotes yipping and geese honking when the sun was covered. All the birds went silent, too. In the negative column was the drive home. A 3-1/2 to 4 hour drive took us just under 9 hours. We saw plates from 32 different states.

We’re on this cruise too. It’ll be our first time on Odyssey as well.

There’s no reason to worry. We would sail on Adventure anytime.

As I recall, there’s a surcharge for going between NJ and NYC when using Lyft/Uber.

GTY is a Guaranteed Cabin. It’s an option when booking to let Royal Caribbean chose your cabin. You can chose the basic category….interior, ocean view, balcony, suite, but they place you in a cabin. It’s typically cheaper (but not 100% of the time), however one must be satisfied with having a cabin anywhere on the ship. No takesies backsies. Occasionally there will be an internet post from someone who booked a guaranteed cabin and was dissatisfied with the cabin they got. There are instances when people who were assigned their cabin and were able to call and get a different location, but the replacement cabin must be in the exact same category as the one assigned.

I dragged my wife up for a Battle of the Sexes in the Star Lounge on Voyager a couple years ago. She was mortified at first, but then we both had a ball. We participate in a lot more things ever since then. I can’t get her to audition for Love and Marriage though….although she agrees we’d do pretty well. I always take note of what she’s wearing just in case she ever changes her mind. We’re at 25 years married, but it’s the second go around for both of us…so technically we’ve each been married longer…
